    Prajan: Let’s see the today's headlines.

    1.A fully vaccinated woman with no travel history tested positive for the new
    coronavirus variant in Gujarat’s Mehsana district. According to Mehsana chief district
    health officer, Dr Vishnu Patel, the woman is asymptomatic and stable.

    2.Meanwhile, India on Thursday recorded 7,974 Covid-19 cases and 343 deaths. With
    7,948 recoveries, the active cases in the country stood at 87,245.

    3.Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla reviews Covid-19 situation in country amid reports
    of about 70 positive cases of Omicron variant of virus in different parts of country.

    4.The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday told the legislative council that no death
    due to lack of oxygen was reported in the state during the second wave of COVID-19, a
    claim rejected by the opposition.

    Sirish: Oxygen Cycle in Nature


    The cycling of oxygen, in the environment in an ecosystem the interaction between and
    activities of producers, consumers and de composers will result in the release of many
    chemical substances such as carbon dioxide, oxygen, nitrogen and water.
    In this session, lets look at the oxygen cycle and see how oxygen moves through the
    environment.
    The atmosphere comprises only 21% of Earth’s total oxygen.
    The major source of oxygen in the atmosphere is photosynthesis. During daylight hours,
    Plants take in carbon dioxide and use it for photosynthesis. A process that includes the
    production of oxygen.
    Phytoplankiton are tiny plants that live on the surface of ocean. Phytoplankiton and
    green algae also make food through photosynthesis and they release oxygen in the process.
    The oxygen that is released by the plants will be used by the animals and plants during
    respiration. And burning of wood and others fuels such as those used in vehicles also uses
    oxygen.
    When plants and animals die, they will be decomposed by the microorganisms such as
    bacteria. The process of decomposition will take up oxygen and release carbon dioxide.
    Let’s recap how oxygen cycled in the atmosphere.
     The trees use sunlight and carbon dioxide to produce energy and release oxygen.
     The animals will breath in oxygen and expel carbon dioxide.
     The trees use carbon dioxide again for photosynthesis and released oxygen
    Summary:
    Oxygen enters the atmosphere through the photosynthesis of plants, animals and land
    take in oxygen through respiration.
    During organisms also use up oxygen.
