A Lesson Plan in
Introduction to World Religions & Belief System

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of the elements of Taoism: a. Founder: Lao
Tzu (604 B.C. - ?) b. Sacred texts: Tao Te Ching, Book of Chuang Tze c. Doctrines: Wu-Wei, Law of
Reversion, Following nature d. Tao as the Origin of all Beings, unnameable and eternal e. Issues:
Inaction, Superstitious practices, Environmentalism

Performance Standard: The learner identifies the things she can do without by making an inventory of
personal belongings (e.g. things in the bedroom) and writes a reflection on Taoism based on the result of
the inventory.

Most Essential Learning Competencies: *Analyze the brief history, core teachings, fundamental
beliefs, practices, and related issues of Taoism

I. Specific Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. Identify the things one can do without by making an inventory of personal belongings.
b. Understand the brief history, core teachings, fundamental beliefs, practices, and related issues
of Taoism
c. Write a reflection on Taoism based on the result of the inventory of things one can do
without.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Daoism

Materials: Laptop, T.V.

III. Procedure
A. Activity/Motivation/Review(15 mins)
Directions: The students are asked to identify the things one can do without by making an
inventory of personal belongings (e.g. things in the bedroom). The things will be bought in a
virtual grocery store and be placed in a virtual pushcart. The students will be asked at the
later part of the class to justify their answers.

B. Analysis (5 mins)

C. Abstraction (10 mins)


The topic will be presented in class using PowerPoint presentation. The following are to be
discussed/demonstrated:
a. Founder: Siddhartha Gautama (563-483B.C.)
b. Sacred texts:Tripitaka
c. Doctrines:
Four Noble Truths,
Eight-fold Path,
D. Application/Synthesis (25 mins)

Individual Activity:
Recognize Filipino ill habits that can be ommited by practicing Buddhist Middle Way
(eithfold path).

Differentiated Group Activity:


With the differentiated group, the students will apply possitive values of Buddhism in a
creative manner.
1. To achieve this;
a. Visual artists will do poster-slogan
b. Musicians will make and perform a jingle
c. Dancers will do an interpretative dance
d. Actors will do a short skit
e. Online students will do a Collage showing the the eightfold path with description
2. 5 mins is given for preparation and 5 mins per performance
Output will be evaluated using the rubric below:
