TRAVELLING
It is a current topic because is travelling has recently become one of the most popular hobbies.
Nowadays, we travel much more than in the past and people travel for different reasons. I mean, you
can travel because you enjoy it and you want to know other cultures and places. But people travel
also because of work or because they want to be in contact with friends or family.
Well, I would like start saying that most of the people travel on holidays and usually the pick season
is in summer. But there are also other times to travel like at a long weekend when there is a day off,
at Christmas or at Easter. For travellers make a trip is an adventure and it is a way to enjoy new
experiences and to know new cultures. Furthermore, it could be an experience to challenge yourself
or to learn a new language.
But anyway,
1. there are different means of transportation to travel, which people can choose among either
private or public ones. Before choose one or the other, you have to consider some questions
like time and distance, price, comfort, how much luggage you need, etc.
Going by car it’s very convenient because you have your own space and you can take the
luggage you want. But usually is common to pack more things that you actually need. It is true
that if you travel by car you can stop where you want and you can get exactly where you
want, but the disadvantage is that you have to drive and I think that it is more uncomfortable
situation because I prefer not to drive in a long journey.
Another way to travel is the bus or the train. Both of them are typical used by young or elder
people who don´t want to drive or can’t drive. They are quite fast, often very modern and
therefore quite comfortable. The big advantage is that there are many regular bus lines, but
the disadvantage is that you have to be seating all the time and you can move from your seat
until you arrive to the destination.
The means of transport which is use most is the plane. It is very often used when you need to
travel for long distances. Besides, it is very comfortable, fast and exciting way to travel, but on
the other hand rather expensive. Furthermore, although it is fast and you can go everywhere
in a day, you need to spend long time in the airport to do the check in and all the things, so
you have to know that you are going to lose a day.
To sum up, I would like to say that to short distances is better to go by car, but when we have
to travel for long distances is better a plane, a bus or a train.
2. Wherever you go, it is important to travel light and not with heavy luggage. When we are
going to pack the suitcase we have to take only the things we are going to use and no more
for “just in case”. The bag has to be easy to carry, so with reasonable planning it is not too
hard to do. It is very useful to make a list because it is going to help you packing practical.
Besides, you have to take things that can mix and match as much as possible with everything
else in order to bring fewer amounts of clothes.
First, we have to know the way of travel, I mean, in which means of transportation we are
going to travel. If you are going to backpacking it is very important to travel light because you
have to go carry a bag and the more things you take the worse for your back. Then, if you are
going to travel by plane, it is more convenient to carry a light baggage, because you can take it
with you in the cabin and you don’t have to waste too much time making the check in. It is
true that if we travel by car we tend to pack as much as possible, because we have our own
space. But then, we only use some clothes and we come back home with the half of the
luggage without using.
Moreover, it is very important to find out/check about the weather, because depend on the
weather you need more or less clothes and you have to pack some things and not others. For
example, if it is going to be sunny and warm, you don’t need a jacket so don´t pack it.
In my case, I also try to leave a bit of unused space in my bag to allow for some item I will find
in my destination.
To sum up, I have learnt the hard way and I think that is too much better to travel light than
heavy.
