Clap ONCE if the picture shows a renewable resource and clap TWICE if it shows a non-
renewable resource.
Possible Answers: Sun-Renewable, Gold-Non-renewable, Wind-Renewable, Plants-
Renewable, Coal-Non-renewable

The teacher will ask the following questions:

 What is the difference between renewable and non-renewable resources?
Possible Answer: Renewable resource can replenish itself at the rate it is
used, while nonrenewable resource has a limited supply.
2. Explore (10 Activity:
minutes)  The teacher will show a painting of Fernando Amorsolo.
 The students need to identify five things in the painting that does not
originally belong.

 The teacher will then ask the following questions:

1. What are the things that we found in the painting?
Possible Answer: We found an airplane, meteors, satellite, ozone
atoms, and aurora borealis.
2. How are these things related to each other?
Possible Answer: They are all found in the Earth’s Atmosphere.
3. What is an atmosphere?
Possible Answer: It is a mixture of gases that envelopes the planet.
4. What is the major role of the atmosphere?
Possible Answer: It provides the essential gases to make the earth
livable.
3. Explain (15 A. The teacher will discuss the different gases that comprises the atmosphere and how
minutes) these gases are consumed on Earth.
 Nitrogen 78%
 Oxygen 21%
 Other gases (mostly Argon) 0.96%
 Carbon Dioxide 0.04%
B. The teacher will discuss the five layers of the atmosphere and their distinguishing
features.
 Troposphere
 Stratosphere
 Mesosphere
 Thermosphere
 Exosphere
C. Activities:
1. The teacher will provide images of objects that are found in the
atmosphere.
2. The students will identify in which part in the atmosphere these
objects belong.
Possible Answers:

4. Elaborate (15 A. The teacher will discuss different human activities that have negative effects to the
