Executive summary:

I had done my internship in Bank of Punjab Kachari Road Wazirabad Branch. Bank of
Punjab was formulated in 1989. BOP one of the biggest working bank In Pakistan with
two hundred ninety three branches. Bank involve in all type of banking activities and
provide many major services toward customers such as E-Banking, Remittance,
Deposit in Foreign Account (currency), Agriculture Loan, Trade, Leasing, Industry loan,
ATM etc. Bank of Punjab own First Punjab Mudrba (subsidiary) in 1992, which is
managed by PMS (Punjab Mudraba Services Private limited)

This report and analysis are based on my internship work and various activates which I
had done in BOP Wazirabad branch. This report include SWOT analysis and PEST
analysis and complete information which I have learn during my internship period. In
this report major problem of the bank also discussed which I had observed during my
work. And this internship is very helpful for me in future and also increase my
intellectual abilities and skills.

First day in Bank of Punjab I spend with operational manger Mr. Hafeez. He was very
humble and cooperative person, I learn many things from Mr. Hafeez. He perform many
activities like Clearing of cheque, Accounts, Account Opening, Remittances, Voucher
and Cheque filling, Account Deposits, Account Opening, Data posting in computer etc.
During my six week internship in Bank of Punjab, I learned many banking activities, I
learned how to open an account and also perform the account opening activity. When
new customer open a bank account bank provides a cheque book toward customer for
withdrawal of amount from bank account. I learned about the required documentation
for ATM card.

Here I’d like to give remark that many students want to do internship in well establish
and well growing bank for learning and future opportunities. Well establish bank did not
give too much opportunities toward students, these banks demand too much
experiences and skilled employees. But after internship I learn one thing, a developing
and growing bank are create too much opportunities of new students, and in these
banks lot of things for learnings, its develop skills, knowledge etc. developing banks

give opportunity for internee to see daily problems which face by bank and how to
managing these problem in efficient way .

I learned and experienced the following activities during internship.

Procedure of accounts opening, requirements for opening an account in bank, How to


verify the documents, how much initial deposits required for opening an account,
signature verification specimen signature card (SS card), account closing procedure,
procedure of issuance of the cheque book, clearing of Cheque online within city and
outside city, how to collect the utility bills, inter bank credit advice (IBCA), demand draft
and pay order numerous kind of letter of credit, customers elaborate in letter of credit,
necessary requirements for opening a letter of credit, creation the proposal for letter of
credit, basic requirement of the letter of credit, foreign currency account and foreign
remittance.

The duration of internship was very good for me, I work in very friendly environment and
learn many professional activities. This internship period well be very helpful for me in
future for working in any organization and adjusting in organization.

What is a Bank?

“Bank is a financial institution who borrowing and lending the money.”

There are further two more types of banks:

 “Commercial bank.”
 “Investment Bank.”
o Commercial bank relates with the deposit, withdrawals, short term and long term
loans etc.
o Investment bank relates with providing services to the organizations. I.e.
underwriters.

Short History of Bank:

The banking concept is too old. First time in 2000 BC bank system used in Babylonia
and Assyria later on its use in Greece. In past a person who have some extra money its

give to the other people as a loan and charge some interest on that amount. Chinese
and Indian history also tells the lending activities are made in past. The modern banking
concept start form Italy.  Medici Bank was the formal structure and first bank which is
open in Italy in fourteenth century. .  Medici Bank performed only borrowing and lending
activates in 1407 first depositary bank open in Geneva Italy.

Seventeenth century is the most important for the banking sector because all modern
concept start from that time. The bank of England first time issue the bank note in
1695, the royal bank of Scotland introduced draft facility toward the customers in 1728.
In nineteenth century banking system establish too much its provide locker facilities,
bank clearing concept, investment, loans etc.

Introduction of Report

The internship at the end of MBA 6 th semester is very helpful for my future job because I
learn bookish knowledge in class but now it’s time to work like professional and practice
the all thing which I learn during semesters.

Internship report importance:

This report is very important for my degree requirement. Without writing a report on
which I learn during internship will useless because this report is very helpful for my
future job prospective. Calculation and decontamination of statistics become productive
when it comes in form of info. It’s too much hard work to transform the data into the
information, because it need too much time, still internship was a great practice for me
to work like professional. For internship I was choose Bank of Punjab Wazirabad
branch. The time period of my internship is six weeks, and it was great experience for
me.

Yes, I have attained the above stated goals during the internship in Bank of Punjab. The
BOP has a massive business size in Pakistan economy.

Methodology of study:

My internship at BOP Wazirabad branch the very important duty was to gather as much
worthy info about organization as likely. Due to this aim, a sum of practices were used
to assemble the essential material of BOP and accumulate the report. In this report both
primary and secondary data were used. Primary data is based on my own observation
and different interviews. And secondary data was based on BOP manual, annual
reports website etc.

History of Bank of Punjab:

The BOP was established in November 19, 1989 under BOP Act 1989. BOP was open
its first branch in Lahore in 1989. At the early days the BOP was fixed as non-scheduled
Bank in Punjab. In opening year the major depositor was the Govt. Because it was open
to support Govt. in 1994 bank changed the policy and changed into scheduled bank.
The approval given by the Govt of Punjab. In September 19, 1994 bank open its first
branch in Islamabad (blue area) as a scheduled bank. Now BOP has two hundred and
ninety three branches in all over the Pakistan with a strong communication network.

Bank of Punjab has more than five thousand employees. In which most employees has
master degrees and also well educated.

BOP offers all kind of bank services like deposit in foreign and local currency, loan and
advances, remittances, leasing, Industry loan and agriculture loan, ATM, E-banking etc.
The BOP has certainly arrived a new period of discipline to the nation below knowledge
and expert indicators of its organization. BOP has play a vital role in Pakistan economy
and also has 7th rank out of top ten commercial bank in Pakistan.

The BOP is Public Bank with limited liabilities and offer different types of services to the
public .It’s simply the BOP play a major role in Govt. of Punjab. In BOP different types of
accounts are opened include foreign currency account and local currency account.
Bank also collect the utility bills and different types of charity funds. In BOP the
requirement for opening an account is very minimum even a salary person can easily
open his/her account. Govt. also pay salary of government employees through BOP
accounts. BOP offers best rate on depots among the all commercial banks in Pakistan.

Reserve:

The basic rule of the BOP that when bank earns profit it took some portion from profit as
a reserve.

Capital:

The major source of the BOP, banks own capital. Bank uses this source for earn profit,
bank invest the capital to earn profit and give loan to the customers and charge interest.

Liquid Assets:

State bank of Pakistan make a rule for all bank that all bank have a fixed amount in form
of liquid asset to full fill the daily transections. And bank can use this amount as a fund
to earn further profit.

Political Environment:

Political environment for Bank of Punjab has right favorable so far. Good and bad
political environment affect the organization operations. September 11, 2001 was the
major cause of instability in Pakistan political environment. Afghan war also affect the
Pakistani environment because Pakistan indirectly Involve in war.

Economic Environment:

Economic environment in not good for Pakistan due to depression period.


Unemployment and high inflation rate and imports showed negatively impact on
Pakistan economic. That’s why investor dose not invest money in Pakistan.

Social Environment:

In Pakistan people does not have right information about market and show biasness in
market. Pakistani culture is very different from many countries because over norms
values different from other countries. In Pakistan most of people live in villages and
does not know well about banking system. In village lander give money to borrower on
high interest rate. But now trend is changed day by day and BOP developing good
image in banking sector as well as in social environment. BOP also play role in society,
bank give Charites to many institutions and also focus on CSR program.

Technological Environment:

Now world become a global village. People link with other peoples which live in other
countries via networking. Now a days customer have perfect knowledge about market
and also rational. That’s the reason BOP try to enhance I.T department, provide batter
online banking system and services to its customers and also want to engage
customers more and more. Because BOP want to become number one bank in
Pakistan.

Organization contribution in economic development:

BOP is one of the most establish bank in Pakistan and bank earn favorable profit in
every year. Bank have two hundred and ninety three branches in all over the Pakistan.
Which is the 6th big commercial bank network in Pakistan.

Good management techniques improved profit. Although Bank of Punjab have high
credible rating in Pakistan. Bank also actively participate in corporate social
responsibility, it give many charities and also active in sports. BOP have own domestic
cricket team.

Now a day’s technology is the necessary for every organization because technology
make easy work for organization. BOP also use technology in form of servers’
computers ATM, to done work efficiently. Now all branches of BOP are computerized
and interlink with each other through internet. Bank install ATM machines almost in all
branches.

Bank participate in economic growth through agriculture sector. Because Pakistan is an


agriculture country. Most people live in village and link with agriculture sector. Bank
provide most schemes and loan for agriculture sector to boost the agriculture sector,
because Pakistan’s most export depend upon agriculture.

3.4 Introduction of Departments:

There are some major Departments in BOP. Employees of all department work
efficiently and respect each other and also play an important part to increase BOP
productivity.

Cash Department:

Dealing and Working:

Cash department deal with the cash and cash relating all things. Bank work like a hub
and it’s require cash for borrowing and lending. Another feature is that, without cash
department a bank cannot meet the daily expense and daily requirements. Cash
department also show the efficiency and performance of the bank.

In Bank of Punjab Wazirabad branch Mr. Zeeshan handle the cash department. He is
well educated, skilled talented and hard working person in BOP. Mr. Zeeshan got MBA
degree and also have two year experience in banking sector. He know well how to deal
with customer and how to build customer relation.

There are some major purposes of this department:

Payment:

Cash department is very sensitive department its pay cash on when cheque is present.
When a cheque holder demand the cash and give a cheque to the cashier than the

cashier give a required money toward cheque holder. Cashier also record the all
transection which are made by the customers. At the end of the day cahier check the
balance and verify the all transactions.

Clearing

Another major feature is clearance of the cheque. It contains confirmation of the date,
authorizations, amount, clearing, stamp (both front and back), and sign. After
confirmation of checks the cash are delivered. When cash is issued to the client, than
cash is debit in client account.

Receipts

Its responsibility of the casher to give a receipt toward the client when payment is made
or withdrawal.

Billing Department:

Every bank have billing department, bank of Punjab collect the all kind of utility bills. It
collect on the behalf of PTCL, Gas department, WAPDA. For the collection the bill bank
1st check the last and due date of the bill and then calculate the amount and then collect
the amount. After collection the amount bank put a paid stamp on bill and also put the
signature on bill. After collecting the bill chaser give a receipt to the customer and one
keep hold. Bank charge some charges on collection of the bills.

Clearing Department

 In cleaning department cheque clear through following procedure.


 Check the name of preferring party.
 Check the name of the bank and branch name (code).
 Check the cheque number.
 Check the amount which is written on the cheque.

After enter the transaction on the clearing register, clearing is sent. Future date is noted
on clearing register. Than voucher and cheques are separated and then cheques to the
clearing department for clearing.

At the same day, credit receipts makes cleare and enter in to the sheet as a credit
balance. After that check the amount which is written on the cheque and also check the
total instruments. And at the last a summery attached with the voucher.

 “Telephonic Transfer”
 “Demand Draft”
 “Payment Order”

For telephonic transfer, the account of receiver must be open in the bank branch.
Demand draft is also arranged and receiver can get sum.

Fisrt fill the form fill by the buyer party along with cash or cheque. Then cheque or chah
received then firstly it’s sent to the computer for balance of account. Then posting entry
tax are calculated if NTN number is not given.

For example:

 Rupees 10000 @ 0.1 percent.


 More than rupees 40000 @ 0.4 percent.

Commission also charge on DD, or TT, which are paid by sender in form of cash or
deduct from cheque amount.

Locker:
Bank of Punjab pervoide the locker facilities to ward the customer who, lockers are available in
small medium and large form and bank change some account yearly on lockers. For the locker
the customer mush have the bank account in that bank branch.

Deposit Department

Deposit refers, bank receive money from customers, different institutions etc. bank keep
these money safe and circulate that money in to the market for earning profit. People
deposit in to bank froe the following purpose.

 To earn profit.
 Security.
 Different types of scheme.

Use of funds:

There is no gain no loss on current account up to limited transections. Bank also


facilitate the customer to give credit balance on current account. Bank charge a
percentage on profit and loss saving account and customer can make maximum seven
transection in a month. BOP charge 6% on profit and loss saving account.

Advances Department

This department deals with different kind of transections. These transection as fallow:

 Forgone investment, staff-finance, export-finance etc.


 Different kind of finance preparation and posting.
 Recuperating and accrual.
 Mark up on Finance.
 Approval for DD and TT in different branches.
 Write down the weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly summery of bank transection
as well as prepare the statement.
 Fund transfer from one account to another account.
 Write the proper finance record.
 Submission the report on time.
 Check out the all department on daily bases and also check the computer and
servers of the branch.
 Balance the al activates which are related with the finance.
 Recover the all financial instalments.
 Prepare a summery on different markup value of finance.

Remittance Department:

This department link with the different types of fund transferring.

There are two major kind of remittance.

 “Local remittances”.
 “Foreign remittances”.

Its contain DD, TT, MT (mail transfer) and pay orders. These remittance further more
categorized.

 Telegraphic Transfer
 Pay Order
1. Demand Draft

DD or demand draft refers to pay on demand. DD is use to transfer money from one
place to another place. Its issue by one branch and its payable on another branch of the
same bank or different bank branch. For example DD issued by bank of Punjab and its
payable on Habib Bank.

2. Pay Orders:

Pay order is an instrument which are issued by a bank and also payable in the same
branch. For example Bank of Punjab issue a pay order and its payable only in same
branch of the BOP. Pay order issued on the specific person or account. Only receiver
can cancel the pay order.

3. Telegraphic Transfer

TT is used when a customer want to send money outside the country. This facility
provided by the bank for customer, in this customer can easily and quill send his
amount to abroad. For TT sender bank account is not necessary, in this customer fill the
application remittance form, and mention the bank in which they want to transfer the
money and also mention the name off receiver, address, account number etc. bank
charge some amount to the send for the providing tis service.

Foreign Remittance:

It contains foreign DD, foreign TT, and foreign online transactions. The procedure of
foreign remittance almost same.in this bank charge some extra amount as compare to
the local remittance.

Zarco Remittance:
Bank of Punjab work with western union money transfer and money gram. Anyone who want to
send money from outside the Pakistan to its family can use that service for transferring the
money.

Foreign Exchange Department

Bank most of transaction made in local currency. Foreign exchange department (FED)
is about how to deal foreign currency and its maintenance. FED convert local currency
in to the customer desire currency i.e. Pak rupees convert into the US dollar. Foreign
exchange department deals with foreign trade, foreign currency, remittances, and
foreign exchange rate.
FED department deal in following currency:
 Euro  US Dollar
 UK pound  AUD
Minimum five hundred balance required for opening a foreign currency a/c. foreign
currency a/c also open as fixed account, current account, profit and loss saving account
etc.

Foreign Currency Saving Account:

Bank of Punjab offer to its customer foreign saving account. For the
opening this account minimum 500 foreign currency require. There are
some basic requirement for opening this account that a customer should be
have:

 Selection of different varieties of currencies for example Euros, US Dollars etc.


 There is no cash usage responsibilities from the clients.
 Gain different smart rates reliant on the money you select.
 Get the best rate in the market.
 There is no limit for with drawl the cash or deposit.

There is some different types of foreign transactions:


 “Capital”  “Short-term financial”
 “Current”  “Working balances”
Current:
It’s divided in to two categories:
 Trade of physical goods for example mercantile.
 Trade of inviable good, like interest rate, commission rate etc.

Capital:
These transection are different from other transactions. When a country invest into
another country for the long term purpose, these transection are capital transection.
Short-term Transaction
If one person transfer its foreign exchange from one country to other country for short
time period due to political or environmental circumstances. It’s called short term
transection of finance.

Working Balance:
Sometime bank keeps its reserve in foreign currency due to political and economic
circumstances. If the condition of the country going down and economic indicator show
bad performance of the country than that foreign reserve currency balance the working
condition and save the bank.

Online Banking:

Technology change the global word, and also make work easy. Technology make work
more smooth effective and efficient. Now a days all bank branches computerized and
also connect with each other through server. So it is easy now to check a customer his
balance, withdrawal his amount from any branch of those bank in which customer have
account.

BOP all branches interlink with each other through server so bank can easily transfer
the funds from one bank to another bank or transfer funds from one country to another
country.

Bank of Punjab Debit Card:

BOP also provide the ATM/debit card to customer who want to get this card.

BOP offers ATM + debit card with the name “Apna Cash Card”.

There are some information which is written on the front side of the card:

 Card Container’s Name.

 Six digit International bin number.

Comments on the Organization Structure:

Bank of Punjab is well organized bank in Pakistan. A well-built and right organize
assemble is a key constraint for the perception of any Bank. Its provide the basic guide
line to do work right and deficiently. In every business organization structure is most
important for any organization if the structure of the organization strong than
organization will improve and if organization structure week organization performance
decrees. The action of bank includes a numerous activities, which are related with
choice making, and communicating of these choices. These activities must be
corresponding so that objectives of the association are attained successfully.

Now a days Bank of Punjab work across the Pakistan. More than five thousand
employees work in Bank of Punjab and two hundred and ninety three branches are
work in Pakistan.

The atmosphere of branch is good all employees help others subordinate. Most of the
employees in Bank of Punjab are well educated and skilled and they know how to don
work efficiently.

The basic objective of the organization to make an organization which practices set

which are used in Branch.

Branch manager is responsible person how to run branch and how to engage the local

Communication refers to exchange some information between two or more people. It


can be formal and it can be informal it’s depend upon a person that how they want to
communicate. Communication also play a vital role in employee’s motivation
employee’s behavior. In down sending communication information sent from tom to the
lower lever. For example manger give direction to the operational manager then
operational manager give information to assistant operational manager etc. top level
management communicate with its organization employees through email, latter,
speech etc.

Chain of Command:

The chain of command is a line of authority that links all persons in an organization and
explains who reports to whom. By analyzing the organizational structure of BOP it can
be found that there is a scalar principle followed with in the Bank because each and
every person knows to whom he should report. The authority and responsibility for
different sort of tasks and duties are different, over and above everyone knows the
successive levels of management all the way to the top.

Authority and Responsibility:

Authority of structure show the organization structure and chain of control. Manager
responsible to make goals and other employees responsibility to achieve that certain
goals. In bank of Punjab centralized system of authority. Every subordinate responsible
to report its manager and every manager responsible to reported its regional manager.

Delegation:

Delegation refers to a manager transfer his authority to its subordinate to do a specific


task etc. but if subordinate does not work properly then manager will be responsible for
that. But bank of Punjab manager does not give authority to its subordinates they think
the subordinate misused the authority.

Branch Introduction:

I freshly done internship at BOP (Bank of Punjab) Wazirabad branch. The branch
address is Kachari Chowk Sialkot Road Wazirabad. The building site is single story, and
it’s include all BOP main sections. Branch site is fine because big Firms, Schools,
Colleges, Petrol Pumps CNG stations, etc. are very nearly to the bop branch. The
branch manager has good interaction and relationship with the School staff, Firms,
Colleges, petrol pump and CNG owner.

All staffs have lot of skills and experience in banking sector, especially appointed Mr.
Imtiaz Ahmad Cheema has five years’ familiarity with this branch. The total staff of Bop
wazirabad branch are nine. Only 5 members relates with banking operations, such as
cash and received, opening an account, online payments, checking account etc. 2
members are security guards, one member is sweeper and one member is senior tea-
boy.

1st Week detail:

My day first at bank of Punjab is about introduction with staff members. At 2 nd day
operational manager MR. Abdul Hafeez told me how to deal with customers. 2 nd day
sub operational manager Mr. Khurram Shazad tell me about different types of vouchers
and teaches how to fill that vouchers. Two different types of voucher were there.

 Inspection Vouchers.
 General Vouchers.

Firstly I lean how to fill general voucher and then learn how to fill inspection voucher
because some information is written in general voucher and it was necessary for
inspection vouchers.

In actuality, those two kinds of bonds was measured by general way of the balancing
the payments.

On 3rd day Mr. Khurram Shazad tell me about banks account opening form, deposit slip
and how to fill deposit slips and also assigned me to work to fill it these forms. On 4 th
day I learned about different types of forms which are very important for employees to
know.

On 5th day Mr. Hafeez gives me over-view about cheque book, account opening
application form, E-Banking and how to transfer money online.

2nd Week detail:

2nd week is too much important for my internship because I learn very important things
in 2nd week, I learn how to deal with customer, what is foreign remittance, foreign
currency accounts etc. Foreign currency account and remittances are too much difficult
work, especially for new job holders & internee, but I did not face any problem because
cash deposit in-charge Mr. Shahid Mahmood was very humble and supportive person. I
also learn data verification in this week. Mr. Shahid told me about how to data verified of
a person on NADRA web site. Mr. Mahmood was stated me that before deposit and
creation of any cheque, 1 st check CNIC and secondly match the CNIC number with data
receiver info from the writer of cheque or sender. There were CNIC copy attached with

the data information. Last days of the week I observed the Payment of X-Press Money &
Aftab Money accounts. Which was very helpful for me during internship.

3rd Week detail:

Cash Department:

What is cash?

Cash is lawful coins or tender that are used to interchange or exchange the goods,
services, debt etc.

Who is Casher?

A person who deal daily with the cash in the bank.

Cash department:

Cash department is the penetrating and sensitive department of any bank. Cash
department is relates with the cash inflow and out flow, cash flow banking operations,
banking fees, bills and many other operations. The job of cash department is too much
hard because casher need to check and balance of total amount, also accountability of
single penny.

Responsibilities:

How to maintain cash department, its casher responsibility. Because a casher can
handle cash department in very best way, daily interaction with customers and good
communication with customers.

Is the effort in good assurance?

Working

3rd week of my internship I spend in cash department. Mr. Zeeshan handle the cash
department and he was officially casher in BOP Wazriabad branch. On my 1 st day of
week 3rd in BOP Mr. Zeeshan was tell me about obligation and duties of a casher, he
was also told me that cash department is too much sensitive department because it’s
relates day to day cash transactions foreign payments and trading etc.

The things which I was learn by Mr. Zeeshan are below:

 How to deposit cash and make  How to pay amount on cheque and
deposit enter. online transactions.
 Arrangement of cash.  Deposit slip detail.
 How to check notes.

Recommendation by Cashier:

Do work easy and relax mind, and don’t be nervous on performing your duty in cash
department.

During the counting of the cash odd numbers always on your 1 st finger and even
number should on 2nd finger. On 1st day of week 3 I also observed ATM machine
functions, how to work that machine.

Mr. Zeeshan Maqsood also assigned me duty, to collect fee of M.Z.A.K (Mollna Zafar Ali
Khan) Govt. degree college’s students. There are three charge slides on challan form of
college students, first give back to the student and other took in to the bank. I was also
calculated total cash of the whole day and also writes foot notes of many different
accounts which I have been balanced. This was very hard and difficult job for me but I
also work hard for improving this skills.

On 2nd day of 3rd week Mr.Zeeshan give me some notes and told me how to practice
that notes. Firstly I can’t understand that how to practice the notes but casher give me
some extra time and helped me to understand that’s notes then I practices on that nots.

On 3rd day Mr. Zeeshan was told me how to check the note and how to deduct the
illegal note and how to report it. He told me difference between original note and illegal
note. Original note have fixed colour and illegal note did not have fixed colour, there are
size difference in original and illegal note. Casher also give me some different notes for
counting, and I start count them but I was nervous. Because they are different price
notes. Then manager of the branch told me if you have different price notes first you
separate all the notes according to the price and size then count it. Then you will easily
count all the notes.

On fourth day I was collected deferent types of utility bills. I notice that people wait for
the last date of the bill and then pay it in to the bank. Mr. Zeeshan told me about
different things for checking in account receivables.

 Fist check the date of the bill.


 Second check the amount of bill.
 Third check the bank stamp and signature on the bills.

On fifth day all Pakistan bank close due to 6 September holiday.

4th Week detail:

On 1st day of 4th week I learn how to open women account, those women were work in
TMA wazirabad and Mr. Khuram Shahzad told me the risk of women account is too
much hish as compare to men account, because women’s resource of income vary form
men.

Second day I lean about how to fill up the cheque book and deposit slip, I also learn
about BOP server how it’s work and purpose.

Third and fourth day I learn how to fill online transaction form and practice them all day
because it was a difficult work for me but after practicing whole day it become easy for
me. Especially third day I lean how to issue the cheque book to the customer and
process of issuance of the cheque book.

Fifth day I learn what kind of signature problem and how to resolve that problems. I
learn the process of changing the signature of customers. On fifth day Mr. Imtiaz
manager of the branch conduct a surprise quiz for me, and after the result manager
satisfy with my interne work.

5th week detail:

First day of the 5th week I was learned what is the “Young lions saving Account” (YLS).
YLS account is only for those customer who are under 18 year age. In other word YLS
accounts is especially for the miner customers. Bank provide some totally free services
for the YLS holders.

 1st cheque book.


 Interest rate on deposit is 6 present on quarterly and daily bases.
 Issue 1st credit card.

Mr. Zeeshan was told me about YLS account, he also told me the requirement of YLS
account and rules and regulation too. Parents or guardian signature is necessary for
opening the YLS account. Mr. Zeeshan Maqsood spoke my mind and has no parent. On
the second day of fifth week I perceive the rudimentary difficulties held by customers.

The some general issues were as below:

 Many customer mostly those people who lives in village area did not know how to
open bank account.
 If Rs. 1000 note change with the small price note, people does not get change from
any shop and they come to bank for get change of Rs. 1000.

On third day I was learn about demand draft (DD) and what is the purpose of the
demand draft, who issue the demand draft and what is the procedure of demand draft.

Fourth day of the week I was learned about foreign exchange department, in foreign
exchange department there are different kinds of accounts like currency etc. and learn
about the different. I didn’t open foreign account because bank manger does not allow
to do that so I get only information of different currency account and foreign remittance.

On fifth day of the week I learn different kind of schemes which are issue by the bank.
Fifth day is too much busy for me because branch manager assign me to do many
works and also many people come to the bank for pay utility bills. I am counting the
cash and balance it. I also fill many bank account forms because Mr. Khuram Shahzad
was on leave.

6th week detail:

Sixth week was my last week in BOP. On 1 st day I learn which kind of loan and advance
payment bank provide to its customers, what is the procedure of the loan, and what is
the requirement of the loan. On 2 nd day of the week I was asked to Mr. Hafeez, what

kind of facites bank provide to its internal customers (employees). Mr. Hafeez told me
bank provide loan to its emplyees also issue share of the bank, give medical allowance
and many other allowances. The employee can get car on lease from bank on easy
installment. Mr. Hafeez was told our branch manager Mr. Imtiaz had a car on lease from
bank and he pay Rs. 3000 in form of installment. Every month Rs. 3000 were less from
his salary

3rd day of the week bank face cash shortage problem. Mr. Khuram and I went to
National Bank of Pakistan Wazriabad branch for carrying cash to full fill the bank daily
needs. The branch manager told me BOP have an account in National Bank, and we
use these account in case of emergency or shortage of cash.

Fourth and fifth day I learn about pension customers and deal with pension customers.
Mr. Hafeez give me authority to do work as an operational manger not as an interne. He
told me this practice is very use full in your future if you did banking job. I enjoyed lot of
in these two days as well as I practice many thing in the bank as operational manager.
On my final day Mr. Imtiaz appreciated my work which I done in 6 week in bank and
give me appreciation and internship latter, he also give me a good farewell party.

Internship Learning Summary:

Qualifications & Skills:

Every student want to job in well establish organization and bank. My 1 st day at BOP is
very excited for me because after study it was my first experience to do work for an
organization. During my internship I get lot of experience, I met many different type of
people, some people live in city and some live in village. I was learn many concept and
do practices on that. My knowledge increase about banking sector, 1 st time in my life I
open bank account and know about that how bank works. I learn customers behavior,
how to satisfy the customers, what kind of problem face by bank and how to resolve that
problems.

4.4.2 Academic Information:

I had some knowledge and experience during my internship work in bank of Punjab. I
learn basics of debit and credits, what is entry and how to pass an entry into the
computer, How to open an account in bank, banking history, information about cheque
book, how much time period required for issues of a cheque book.

Leasing procedure, interest rate on dissimilar types of deposit, proper account


information while account is PLS, current deposit account or fixed deposit etc.

Responsibilities:

During working in banking job, there is require to spend more time to resolve the
problems which are occur during job like traveling, come to bank on time, work
according to situation, clam and relax etc.

During my internship on first day. I get up at 6:30 am, get ready on 7:15 am and leaving
house at 7:45 am. Bank of Punjab wazirabad branch is not so far from my house. So I
reach in bank 30 min before bank open. In banking sector the time have too much
importance because I you don’t reach bank on time, it make problem for you.

In banking sector it’s my responsibility to keep always well dress because dress show
your personality. There are some responsibility in banking sector as follow:

 Don’t leak any info which are relating with the organization. I.e. if you work in
banking sector you should never give any inside information to your customer it is
you responsibility to hide inside information.
 Do work with relax mind and listen everyone but do which is best for organization.

4.4.4 Impact of internship on future job plan:

Future Effects:

Internship have an impact on my future plan. Because when my study is completed,


than I have knowledge which a read in books and also have some practice which I done
in internship. I believed that this experience create a base for me and describe me
which sector is good, and suit to my personality, rather I join private firms or Govt.
firms etc.

Banking sector is very good for creating employees personality. Interaction with many
people and work in bank play very important role in future, a man can earn respect with
good communication and relationships as well as with good personality. There is most
attractive thing which is part of our personality its smiley face and maintain, all these
thing I learn from internship.

Relationship between banking knowledge and banking knowledge:

Academic knowledge and banking knowledge and work closely relates with each other.
Learning in academic institution or getting knowledge were very useful in banking field.

I’m student of MBA and I learn about banking and business work that how getting work
are done also know the basics of accounting, how interest rate find, how to find present
value and future value, how to reduce risk, know about basic of cheque book etc. all
things wo learn in academic learning and then practice it all during internship.

Summary:

Working in banks is very useful for me especially when my degree were nearly

During internship I practiced many thing which I was learn in my study tenure. Work
experience will be beneficially for my job carrier and very use full to understand any
organization. After internship experience I learn following things which are very useful

Bank of Punjab very famous and growing bank. Bank open many branches in different
areas of Pakistan to facilitate the customers. Bop create good image in market and try
to expand business in many ways like bank provide agriculture loan, student education
loan etc. BOP also provide ATM facilities to its customers. The bank infrastructure is not
too good, because bank rely on old computer and servers that is the cause low
efficiency of the bank. Bank should need to focus on high efficiency, all employ in BOP
are cooperative but they need to provide latest computer and servers to done work
smoothly. Bank of Punjab does not create opportunity for the students. Bank focuses on
external customers rather than internal customers.

Recommendations

Recommendation and suggestion is most important and critical part of the report. BOP
is top ranked bank in Pakistan. Location of BOP branches are very good places and
also near to the markets and industrial areas. Logo of the Bank is quite different, orange
colour is used in logo and orange colour is light colour and create attraction toward
customers so customer can easily find the bank in the market. In now a days many
banks uses very deep colours Like Meezan Bank, HBL, Bank AL-Habeeb and these
banks near to industrial area many large buildings are situated near to t bank building
and this condition it’s not easy to find bank branch. The BOP should need to use
mixture of two or more colours to attract more customer in commercial area as well as
in markets.

After done my internship and study I suggest some recommendations. These


recommendations are as fallow:

 Now a days trend changed people are more educated and use technology for ease
of work so BOP need to install ATM machines in every branch.
 BOP should need to changed infrastructure and furniture of the organization
because in BOP the furniture are too old.
 Need to facilitate internal customers because if internal customer are satisfy then
they satisfies bank external customers.

 Advance the I.T department and need to change computer, servers etc.
 Provide separate place for manger, operational manger and employees. Because if
employees have separate room they will increase bank performance.
 Need to increase staff in cash department because cash department is very
sensitive department and single person can’t handle whole cash department.
 Need to increase security guard for security purpose.
 Need to increase sweeper staff for cleaning the bank.
 Increase the salary package because BOP give less salary to its employees as
compare other banks. That’s the reason of increase in employee turnover ratio.
 Need to satisfy customers and train tea boy to filling the voucher in any case if other
staff is busy to perform other tasks.
 Give bonus ion the bases of performance.
 Bank should need to provide good services at low cost to its customers.
 BOP need to start credit card operations. It’s very helpful to increase customers
because now a day’s people made most of transaction on credit bases.
 Hire an employee who resolved the customer problem and complains. And also
install the complaint box in every BOP branch.
 Need to develop employees training system because technology and system
changed day by day and if BOP want to increase efficiency and profit than bank
need to train its employees time to time.
 Need to decentralize the organizational structure. Because employee can batter
handle the organizational practices.
