A) INFO
Westlife are an Irish pop group formed on 3 July 1998. The group's original lineup
comprised Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Shane Filan and Brian McFadden
(departed from the band in 2004). The group is the only act in British or Irish history to
have their first seven singles go straight to Number 1, and they have gone on to sell over
44 million records worldwide[1] which includes their studio, single, video, and
compilation albums. Despite the group's worldwide success, they've only had one U.S. hit
on the Billboard Hot 100 charts: "Swear It Again", which made it to 20 in 2000.

Westlife were originally signed by Simon Cowell and are currently managed by Louis
Walsh. They garnered 14 number one singles in the United Kingdom, the third-highest in
UK history, tying with Cliff Richard and trailing behind only Elvis Presley and The
Beatles. The group has also broken a few top records, including "Music artist with most
consecutive number 1's in the UK". It was officially announced by the Official Charts
Company that they are the "2nd biggest selling artist" (trailing behind Robbie Williams)
and "Biggest selling band of the decade" (beating Coldplay) in UK with 11 million album
sales.

On 1 June 2008, Westlife marked their 10th anniversary with a concert in Croke Park,
Dublin which had more than 83,000 fans attending the special occasion. Music Week
revealed on their website that Westlife is the official third top touring act within the years
2005–2008, while they were 7th top touring act of 2008. Also in 2008, they were
declared as Ireland's ninth-richest celebrities under 30 years old and 13th in general with
36 million euros as a group. In 2009, they dropped as 16th richest Irish with estimated 8
million euros each. They are named as the fourth most hard-working music artist in UK
by PRS in 2010.

Prior to becoming successful, Egan, Feehily and Filan along with fellow Sligo men
Derrick Lacey, Graham Keighron and Michael Garrett, were part of a six-member pop
vocal group called Six as One and was later changed to IOYOU. Managed by
choreographer Mary McDonagh along with two other informal managers, they released a
single titled "Together Girl Forever". Walsh, the manager of the 1990s boy-band
Boyzone, was contacted by Filan's mother and came to know about the group. However,
IOYOU did not meet Cowell's approval for a record deal with BMG, and thus changes
were needed. Cowell told Walsh, "You are going to have to fire at least three of them.
They have great voices, but they are the ugliest band I have ever seen in my life." [9] Three
members of IOYOU were told they would not be part of the new group, and auditions
were held in Dublin where Byrne and McFadden were recruited. The new group, formed
on 3 July 1998, was re-named Westside but as the name was already taken by another
band, it was later changed to Westlife. In Westlife - Our Story, Byrne revealed he was
keen to change the name to West High but the others wanted Westlife. Brian also
changed the spelling of his name to Bryan to make it easier to sign autographs. Boyzone
singer Ronan Keating was brought in to co-manage the group with Walsh. The band then
released an EP titled[Swear It Again.]

Dreams Come True: World Of Our Own (1999–2002)

Westlife's first big break came in 1998 when they opened for the Boyzone and Backstreet
Boys' concerts in Dublin. Later Act' award at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party.[10] In
March 1999, the group released their first single, "Swear It Again" which immediately
topped the charts in Ireland and in UK for two weeks. [10] Their second single, "If I Let
You Go", released in August 1999 along with the highly acclaimed "Flying Without
Wings" (their first 'Record of the Year'), released in October the same year, also followed
suit. "Flying Without Wings" was also included on the soundtrack of the Warner Brothers
film, Pokémon: The Movie 2000. The first album, simply titled Westlife, was released in
November 1999 and peaked at #2 in the UK. Ironically, the album was the biggest chart
dropper in the music history of UK, falling from #3 to #37. In December 1999, the
double a side fourth single was released,"I Have A Dream"/"Seasons In The Sun",
knocked Cliff Richard's "The Millennium Prayer" off the top spot and earning them the
1999 UK Christmas number-one single.[11][12] The fifth and last single from the album,
"Fool Again", also peaked at #1. Then, the group went on a short UK, US and Asian tour
in support of their debut album before releasing a second album.

Coast to Coast was released a year after and was another #1 UK album beating the Spice
Girls' Forever album. It became the country's 4th biggest selling album of 2000 and is
Westlife's biggest selling album to date. The album was preceded by a duet with Mariah
Carey on the Phil Collins' classic "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" and the
original song, "My Love" (the song that bagged their second 'Record of the Year' award).
Both singles reached #1 on the UK charts. [17][18] With this, Westlife broke an unexpected
record of having their first seven singles debut at the top of the UK charts, tying with The
Beatles. However, in December 2000, they failed to secure their eighth chart-topper in a
row with their UK and Ireland only single "What Makes A Man" when kid's favourite,
Bob The Builder's "Can We Fix It", was crowned as the Christmas number-one single of
that year.[19] Outside the UK/Ireland territories, they have released "I Lay My Love on
You" and "When You're Looking Like That" and gained chart success. In 2001, they
launched their first world tour, "Where Dreams Come True Tour", unofficially
nicknamed "The No Stools Tour" due to the group's reputation of performing while
perched on stools.

A) INFO

StreamlStefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (born March 28, 1986), better known by her
stage name Lady Gaga, is an American pop singer-songwriter. After performing in the
rock music scene of New York City's Lower East Side in 2003 and later enrolling at New
York University's Tisch School of the Arts, she soon signed with Streamline Records, an
imprint of Interscope Records. During her early time at Interscope, she worked as a
songwriter for fellow label artists and captured the attention of rapper Akon, who
recognized her vocal abilities, and signed her to his own label, Kon Live Distribution.

Gaga came to prominence following the release of her debut studio album The Fame
(2008), which was a critical and commercial success and achieved international
popularity with the singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face". The album reached number
one on the record charts of six countries, topped the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums
chart while simultaneously peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 chart in the
United States and accomplished positions within the top-ten worldwide. Achieving
similar worldwide success, The Fame Monster (2009), its follow-up, produced a further
two global chart-topping singles "Bad Romance" and "Telephone" and allowed her to
embark on a second global headlining concert tour, The Monster Ball Tour, just months
after having finished her first, The Fame Ball Tour. Her second studio album Born This
Way was released on May 23, 2011[3] after the arrival of its eponymous lead single "Born
This Way", which achieved the number-one spot in countries worldwide and was the
fastest-selling single in iTunes history, selling one million copies in five days.[4]

Inspired by glam rock artists like David Bowie, Elton John and Queen, as well as pop
singers such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Amy Winehouse,[5] Gaga is well-
recognized for her outré sense of style in fashion, in performance and in her music
videos. Her contributions to the music industry have garnered her numerous
achievements including five Grammy Awards, among twelve nominations; two Guinness
World Records;[6] and the estimated sale of fifteen million albums and fifty-one million
singles worldwide.[7][8] Billboard named her both the Artist of the Year in 2010 [9] and the
top selling artist of 2010;[10] ranking her as the 73rd Artist of the 2000s decade.[11] Gaga
has been included in Time magazine's annual Time 100 list of the most influential people
in the world as well as being listed in a number of Forbes' annual lists[12] including the

Birth name : Anggun Cipta Sasmi

Genres : Pop, Dance-pop, Pop rock, Adult Contemporary, R&B

Occupations : Singer-songwriter

Anggun was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, as the second child and first daughter of Darto
Singo, an Indonesian songwriter. At the age of 7, Anggun started receiving highly disciplined
singing instruction from her father. She trained on a daily basis, learning various vocal
techniques To help further develop her career, her mother began serving as her manager,
accepting singing offers and handling business concerns. [1] Later on, at the age of 9, Anggun
recorded a children's albuIn her teens, Anggun was influenced by native Javanese artists as well
as by rock & roll singers and bands such as Elvis Presley, Metallica and The Police. In 1986,
with Ian Antono, a famous Indonesian music producer, Anggun released her first official album
in Indonesia, titled Dunia Aku Punya. Anggun's fame continued to rise with the release of
subsequent singles, "Mimpi" and most notably "Tua Tua Keladi" (the latter earned her the "Most
Popular Indonesian Artist" award for 1990–1991). These singles were massively popular in
Indonesia. In late 2009, Rolling Stone Indonesia magazine placed the song "Mimpi" at #47 on
their "150 Greatest Indonesian Songs of All Time" list. Following the success of these singles,
Anggun returned to release follow-up albums; Anak Putih Abu Abu in 1991 and then Nocturno
in 1992. Both albums achieved great success and moreover established her as one of Indonesia's
"Lady Rockers".

In 1992, Anggun began a relationship with Michel Georgea, a French man, whom she had met
the year before in Kalimantan while touring. The couple decided to marry, despite their age
difference and a rumored objection by Anggun's family (reportedly because they felt Anggun
was too young to get married). After the marriage, Anggun founded a record company, Bali
Cipta Record,[6] (making her the youngest Indonesian singer to do so) and released what would
be her final Indonesian studio album, Anggun C. Sasmi... Lah!!! in 1993.[6] She attempted to
shed her tomboy image with the video for the album's first single, "Kembalilah Kasih (Kita
Harus Bicara)".[6] Meanwhile, it became the first music video by Indonesian artist to appear in
MTV Asia, Hong Kong. The album was another smash hit for Anggun, but she began to feel
unsatisfied with her success in her own country and started thinking about an international music
career. Previously, in 1992, Anggun had signed a deal with a renowned Japanese recording
company in Singapore, Pony Canyon, to record an English album which would be released in
Asia. But later the project was cancelled, as Anggun wanted to bring her talent to the West
instead.

Finally, in 1994, after the release of a compilation album containing all her Indonesian hits
(entitled Yang Hilang), she sold her record company to fund her move to Europe.

[edit] 1995–1996: Tough beginnings in Europe

Having given up all of her success in Indonesia, Anggun and Georgea, her then husband moved
to the UK. The couple settled in London and stayed there for about one year. In a 2006 interview
with an Indonesian music magazine, Trax, Anggun admitted to experiencing "culture shock" and
having some serious financial problems while trying to start her new life in Europe, saying "I
thought the money that I got by selling my record company was enough [to sustain life in UK],
but I began to lose my money, little by little. I had to spend so much money on taking cabs and
eating! So I ended up taking buses everywhere and going to clubs to introduce myself as a
singer." She also admitted that she "had to convert from being this shy, introvert, 'real' Javanese
woman to being an unabashed, fearless, "fake" Javanese woman."

She began writing songs and recording demos, but after a few months, all the demos she had sent
to record companies around UK had come back with negative replies. She eventually realized
that her career in the UK was going nowhere and began thinking about moving to another
country. She thought about moving to the Netherlands, thinking that it would be easier to start
her international career there, since there are many Indonesians in that country. But she changed
her mind and went to France instead, which ended up being a good choice. She recalls, "The
moment I stepped my feet in Paris, it felt like home right away. So I decided to stay."
