PROBABLE CAUSE AFFIDAVIT

I, Detective Andrew Rushing, WITH THE MONROE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, UNDER PENALTY
OF PERJURY, state that on or about March 22, 2022, Suspect Justin L Hollingsworth committed
the criminal offenses of: Attempted Murder a felony under IC 35-42-1-1, Aggravated battery a
level 3felony under IC 35-42-2-1.5, and Arson a level 4felony under IC 35-43-1-1; such belief is
based on the following:

On March 22, 2022, at approximately 6:30PM, I was contacted by Sgt. B. Dillion of the
Monroe County Sheriff's office. He informed me he had responded to the scene of an assault
and structure fire located at, 8919 South Ketcham Road in Bloomington, Indiana, within
Monroe County. Sgt. Dillion reported he made contact with 72-year-old Victim Steven Webb
laying in the front yard of the residence. Sgt. Dillion stated that the residence was on fire, and
Victim Webb was badly injured with severe facial trauma and swelling about the head. Victim
Webb reported that his grandson. Suspect Justin Hollingsworth, had assaulted him with a blunt
object inside the residence, and then proceeded to intentionally burn the residence. Victim
Webb was transported to Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital for emergency
treatment, and the Fire Department eventually extinguished the structure fire. Prior to Victim
Webb being transported for medical attention, Sgt. Dillion observed a man emerge from a
wood line on the property. Victim Webb identified this subject as his grandson, and verified he
was the individual responsible for the assault and structure fire. Sgt. Dillion identified this
person as Suspect Hollingsworth, and took him into custody.

Sgt. Dillion informed me Suspect Hollingsworth told him he and his grandfather were
assaulted in the residence by an unknown assailant. Suspect Hollingsworth reported he
attempted to chase the assailant into the woods, but could not catch up with them. I requested
Sgt. Dillion have Suspect Hollingsworth secured in an interview room for interview. After
speaking with Sgt. Dillion, I called Detective Sgt. N. Peach and Monroe County Evidence
Technician B. Boettjer, and requested they process the crime scene. I met with Suspect
Hollingsworth at the Monroe County Sheriff's Office in interview room 2. 1 activated my body
camera, and asked him to explain to me what happened. Suspect Hollingsworth told me he and
his grandfather were assaulted by one intruder into their residence. When I began asking
Suspect Hollingsworth for additional details he invoked his fifth amendment right, and
requested an attorney. Suspect Hollingsworth was then booked into the Monroe County Jail on
battery and arson charges.
