TENNIS BALL CRICKET TOURNAMENT RULES

TCM Cricket Tournament Rules &


Regulations for Men’s Cricket
General Rules:
1.A player who has played in one team is not allowed to play in another team.
2.This tournament would be played with RED Vicky Tennis ball.
3.Each innings would start with a new ball.
a.In case a ball is being lost or broken before two overs of an innings,
then new ball would be issued.
b.If lost after two overs of an innings, old ball [used] would be issued.
4.Knockout matches will be of 8 over preside
5.Power Play:
a.A. Knockout Matches: First 2 overs are mandatory bowling power play &
1 over Batting power play which can be taken anytime between 3 to 8
over’s by batting team, failing to do so the8th over will become mandatory
batting power play over

b.Only 3 players can field outside the 30-yard circle during power play over’s.

c. During the non- power play overs maximum of 5 fielders can be outside
the 30-yard circle, failure to do so during a delivery of a ball would be called
as a No-ball by the umpire.

6.Innings/Match Duration:

a.Knockout matches - Each innings must be completed in 40 minutes


and innings break is 10 minutes. Total match duration is 90 minutes

7.Team Reporting time:

a.Team should report 30 minutes prior to the scheduled match start


time. Toss would be held 15 minutes before the start of the scheduled
time.

8.In case of delay in start of the match due to late arrival of teams.: -

If one team is ready and the other team is not ready to take field at the
scheduled start of play, the overs of team not ready will be reduced at the
rate of full 4 minutes per over irrespective of they are batting first or
second. The team which was ready will get their full quota of overs. If the
delay is caused due to other factors, the umpires will decide accordingly. If
a team does not take the field even after 30 min of the scheduled start
they will not be allowed to take part in the match and will be considered as
not reported. Teams reporting in time but without proper cricketing
equipment’s or giving walkover or conceding the match would also be
looked upon as not reporting. In all cases of not reporting, the match will
be awarded to the opponents.

9. On-field umpire’s decision would be the final one.

10.It is captain’s responsibility to uphold spirit of the game by his team.


11.Any prolonged argument by a team, would yield a walkover to the
opposition team based on the decision by umpires and organizers.
12.If any team walks out of the ground on protest during the playtime, the
team will be disqualified from the tournament.
13.If any team misbehaves or abuses the umpires inside the field or outside
the field during the match, the team will be disqualified from the
tournament.
14.In knockout matches if a tie happens Super over would be held.

Rules for super over

i. The team batting second in the match will bat first in the Super Over.
ii 3 Batsmen from each team can bat and 1 bowler from each team
will bowl
ii. Entire fielding unit is allowed to field
iii., However in case of super over is tied / super over is not possible due to any
unavoidable circumstances or bad light, etc. the winner shall be decided by
the spin of coin.

15.If a match is stopped due to rain, then match would be started where it was
stopped.

16. If a game is stopped due to bad light or weather, or due to any unavoidable
reasons,
a) In case the team batting second could not complete a minimum of 4
overs, the winner shall be decided by spin of coin
b) In case the team batting first has not completed its innings, the winner
shall be decided by spin of coin.

c) In the event of team batting first being all out in less than their full
quota of overs, the calculation of their run rate shall be based on full
quota of overs to which they would have been entitled and not on the
number of overs which the team was dismissed.
d) In the case of the team batting second has completed 4 overs, the winner
shall be decided on the basis of better run rate at the time of stoppage. To
calculate the Run Rate, the total number of runs scored by a team will be
divided by the actual number of balls played by that team, then its result
will be multiplied by 6.
Total number of runs
Run Rate = Actual number of balls x 6
17.In the event of bad or inclement weather or other unavoidable Circumstances, the
Tournament Committee reserve the right to mop up the pitch during the course of the
match in order to facilitate play, in consultation with the umpires.
18.The Tournament committee reserves the right to alter the time, date and venue
of -the match in special conditions
19.Any requests for change of match timings will not be entertained.
20.In matters of doubt not covered by the tournament rules, the decision of
the tournament committee will be final and binding upon all concerned as
per the standard rules.
21.Tournament will be played single wicket, that is, the batsman will play at one
end and after the completion of over, umpires & batsman will change end

Batsman Rules:

1.LBWs are not applicable for this tournament. (legby’s are applicable)
2.All “no-balls” (As per ICC rules: front foot, side-line, above the waist, Fielding
restriction etc)result in a free hit in the next delivery, where field can be changed
only if the batsman strikes changed

3.All the other ICC cricket rules are applicable as it is


Bowling Rules:

1.Regulations are as follows


a.8 Overs Match -> 2 – 2 – 2 – 2 (Max over’s by a bowler)
2.One bouncer is allowed per over, provided the ball passes between the shoulder
and the
head, However, ball passing over the head will be declared as a wide.
3.If the first bouncer is above head height and batsman gets out or scores
runs, then it’s considered as first bouncer and its considered as a legal
delivery.
Also batsman would be declared out or scored runs would be counted
respectively.
4.Free hit is allowed for all No balls
a.In case if a bowler chucks during his action of bowling.I

5.Chucking is strictly not allowed and if batsman at strikers or non-strikers end


appeals against the action it’s left to the umpires on field and organizing
committee to analyze the action and if they find a problem they could warn the
bowler. If the bowler continues with the same action umpires could call a no-
ball.

6. All the other ICC cricket rules are applicable as it is.


12 Judging a Wide:

If the Bowler bowls the ball so high over or so wide of the wicket that, in the
opinion of the Umpire it passes out of reach of the Striker, standing in a normal
guard position, the Umpire shall call and signal "wide ball" as soon as it has
passed the line of the Striker's wicket.

Fielding Rules:
22.Power Play:
A. Knockout Matches: First 2 overs are mandatory bowling power play & 1

play which can be taken anytime between 3 to 8 over’s by batting team,
failing to do so the

Maximum of 5 fielders are only allowed in Leg – side field at any stage of the game
and not more than 2 fielders not allowed behind the popping crease.

39.Umpires: Neutral umpires will officiate in all matches. Umpires decision is
final and should be respected by all players
Substitutions: Substitutions may be allowed if the umpire agrees.

The Tournament committee reserves the right to interpret or modify any of the
rules during the course of the tournament if such a necessity arises. The decisions
of the Tournament Committee shall be final and binding in all the cases.
