I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, pupils are expected to:
1. Identify the characteristics and properties of 3 states of matter.
2. Compare and contrast the properties of solid and liquid, liquid and gas.
3. Give an example of each three states of matter.
4. Participate in the class discussion.
5. Perform simple experiment to identify properties of matter

III. PROCEDURE
1. Preliminary Activities
a. Prayer
Dear God,
Thank you for looking after our school.
Thank you that you love each and every one of us here.
Help us to learn, play and share together.
It’s incredible that you are there every second of the day,
everywhere,
all the time,
beside each of us.
Amen.
b. Checking of Attendance
On the teacher’s table, there will be a paper with the sitting arrangement of
the whole class. The teacher will look at the chairs and see who is absent. The
teacher will then ask the students who are absent for confirmation.
c. Classroom Management
Before the class starts the students are expected to tidy up themselves and
the classroom. They will be in their assigned seats wearing their complete school
uniform. When the teacher begins to talk, every student will listen.
2. Review of the Past Lesson

The students are asked to engage in answering the recap questions on their prior
meeting's last discussion. The recap questions would be:
1. What is a mass?
2. What is a volume?
3. What is the difference between mass and volume?
3. Unlocking of Terms
Pupils are expected to learn the definitions of the following terms:
1. Liquid - .a substance that flows freely but is of constant volume, having a consistency
like that of water or oil.
2. Inflate - to swell or distend with air or gas.
3. Weight - the heaviness of a person or thing.
4. Lesson Proper
a. Activity (Motivation)
The teacher will show the pupils pictures of a gasoline tank, water, and a table.
After the teacher shows the pictures to the pupils they will be given five minutes to think
about the pictures. The pupils are expected to identify what objects they are.
Analysis
The pupils are expected to answer each of the questions given by the teacher:
1. What can you see in the pictures?
2. If you touch the table, what do you feel with the table?
3. What are they called?
b. Abstraction

d. Application
The teacher will divide the pupils into 4 groups and ask them to stay in one place.
The teacher will give marbles and a can for each group and ask each group to put the
marbles in the can. After that, the teacher will give a glass of water and glass to each
group and ask them to pour the water into the glass, then let them observe. After the
pupils pour water onto the glass, the teacher will then give each group a balloon and ask
one member per group to inflate the balloon by blowing air and tying the end. Once the
pupils are done with the balloon, the teacher will tell the students to get a one whole piece
of paper and write their observations.
