The Daily Caffeine

1.1 Background of the Study:

Coffee is a daily ritual of lives of millions of humans around the globe. Especially in these

modern days many people have been addicted to drink coffee every day. But how does the coffee

affect our daily lives? According to hsph.harvard.edu. Human response to coffee or caffeine can

also vary substantially across individuals. Low to moderate doses of caffeine (50–300 mg) may

cause increased alertness, energy, and ability to concentrate, while higher doses may have

negative effects such as anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, and increased heart rate. During the

pandemic lockdown we have discovered our ability to experiment things such as making:

dalgona coffee, iced coffee, and bottled coffee and that actually the reason why we want to start

this business in the future. Our experiences in making a coffee will help us in order to create

different varieties of coffee that we think we will click on our possible customers. We can offer

unusual coffee flavors such as: Double Red Berry Coffee, Pineapple Cherry Coffee, and

Blueberry Caramel. Its very different from the usual coffee flavors because I think this will make

our café unique from other café that’s serves very familiar coffee flavors.

The Daily Caffeine is an Eco-Friendly Coffee Shop that aims to save the environment by

switching plastic into recyclable coffee cups. According to Coffee Shop Innovation Expo, 500

disposable Styrofoam cups are consumed annually, most of which will still be in landfills 500

years from now and having this kind of idea to switch into recyclable coffee cups we can able to

take an immediate action for the betterment of the environment. Moreover, we also want to give

discount to those customers who can bring their own tumblers to reduce using plastic cups.

2
Because it’s helpful to bring your own tumbler whenever possible. Reusable insulated bottles

and tumblers can help save trees and reduce environmental waste, especially when you choose to

use them every single day. Furthermore, we can also switch the plastic straws into reusable

bamboo straws or an alternative to plastic straw with a much lower carbon footprint and

encouraging others to join you, you’re doing your bit for the environment. It might feel small,

but the more people who make the change and talk about it- the more difference we can make. In

conclusion, shopping locally is not only a great way to support the local economy, but it is also

the eco-friendly option. Buying local is touted as the best way to be environmentally friendly

while supporting local communities at the same time. By purchasing food and other goods that

are produced locally, consumers help stimulate their regional economy, help create and retain

valuable jobs, supports families and strengthen community and culture. Understanding the

strengths, limitations and potential pitfalls of local consumption is key to making the most of the

trend. For instance, buying your milk from a local farm and your coffee from a local roaster will

greatly reduce your product’s carbon footprint, ensuring that you’re doing your bit for the planet.

1.2 Statement of the Problem:

The primary problem that arises in this feasibility study is how will you advertise your eco-

friendly coffee shop and what are the challenges of having an eco-friendly business in your

society.

In order to answer the main problem, the following sub-problems need to be investigated as well:

1.What are the effective tools of social media platforms to advertise your café?

3
-Facebook

-Instagram

-Twitter

2. Is having an Eco-Friendly business can reduce the business expenses/costs and help increase

profit?

3. Is using an Eco-Friendly business can attract customers or potential customers?

4. Is an Eco-Friendly business can sustain your business longer in the future?

5. Is an Eco-Friendly business have a competitive advantage towards to the competitors?

international visitors.

1.4 Significance of the Study:

This section clearly provides the benefits of this study to different stakeholders. The following

are the benefits accrued from this feasibility study.

To begin with, the implementation of the proposed project will help the small and medium size

entrepreneurs to accomplish their purpose as a business owner. This study can help them to have

broad ideas and knowledge that can help their future businesses to be successful in the near

future. It can be one of their guides on how they are able to manage and run their business

properly. So, it can be easy for them to create planning and decision making that their business

will benefit from it.

Moreover, this study is significant for the consumers and customers who will buy from our

business coffee shop, it can also help them to be more aware and conscious of what we can offer

for them. Because of their curiosity to try different unusual coffee flavours we are able to attract

them because we're not just a coffee shop that offers very familiar coffee flavours but also, we

offer unusual coffee that I think will make our coffee shop unique from the other coffee shop.

In conclusion,  aside from the owners and consumers who will benefit from this study, this

feasibility study will also help the environment because we are an eco-friendly shop that aims to

help earth to breathe from saving the energy by using more solar panel, conserving water supply,

and by switching plastic into reusable plastic cups and tumblers we can also implement to use

bamboo or metal straws to be able help the environment to reduce negative impact that causing

climate change because of the human activities.

Scope and Limitations of the Study:

This feasibility study is focused to be conducted in Mariveles, Bataan. This study will cover

three out of eighteen Barangays in the town. These barangays that we chose have the biggest

population around Mariveles, Bataan, these are the Barangay Alas-asin, camaya and balon anito.

Specifically, small medium size entrepreneurs will be involved in this study. The feasibility

study will be conducted in the span of three months. The Daily Caffeine study will begin in April

2021 and is expected to be accomplished by 25 of July 2021.

th

Some of the anticipated constraints include the government election this upcoming may 9 and it

will cause some problems due to delaying some of the licences and permits that needed for the

business to operate. Moreover, the new elected city officials in the town will also cause to

delaying the business permit of The Daily Caffeine because of the new guidelines and rules that

should be followed and set by the new elected city officials. However, we can also address that

issue if we are going to communicate with them as early as we can so that we are able to set the

meetings after their elections and it will not cause some delay or problems anymore regarding

the schedule. In addition, all of the researchers are involved in the research process and have

different duties and responsibilities to fulfil so that significant information and questionnaires

can be disseminated in target locations. This will help the feasibility study to meet the target

dateline completely on time.

Methodology:

Sources of Data

The sources of Data were both primary and secondary data.

 Primary Data

The primary data was collected using:

1. A survey or questionnaire was the main instrument in the collection of data for this study. The

questionnaire was validated by Ms. Diane Pauline Gonzales. The recommendation from Ms.

Diane incorporated in the survey. In addition, the data collected from Ms. Diane and respondents

will determine the validity using content validity index. As well as the content validity will be

determined using factorial analysis.

2. Observation will be applied to determine the viability of the business that the researchers will

open, the Daily Caffeine. Observation method will be unstructured. Unstructured is conducted in

an open and free manner without any preconceived or predetermined variables or objectives to

achieve in the study. The procedure is beneficial due to the fact that observation offers direct

access to the researcher respondents and provides flexibility in the data collection process.

8
Secondary Data

The following secondary data source will be used as a strategy to collect adequate data for the

feasibility study.

1. Collect surveys from the grade 11 and grade 12 students of WPI about the small and medium

sized coffee shops business.

2. Records from grade 11 and grade 13 students of WPI about the small and medium sized coffee

form a business and agree to share risks, profits and losses. I believe with the help of other

owners of this business The Daily Caffeine we will be able to achieve our purpose if we are

going to collaborate our efforts and dedication to this business to become a successful Coffee

11
Shop in the Philippines. Moreover, having a partnership business we can able to build a stronger

capital and access to new investors, while better positioning to borrow money. Sharing business

expenses with your partners can help you to save more than you might have on your own.
