The rotation for the volleyball game was confusing for the students due to the fact
that the arrows on the ground were not drawn in very well.

Activities
Day 1- Bump….when ball drops below your head
*3-5 use beach balls and volleyball trainers
*1-2 use balloons and beach balls
Students will practice the bump individually and in groups. Students will rotate to 3 different stations.
Stations
1. Team beach ball volley- students work as a team to keep the ball in the air. Must only use the “Bump”
2. Partner volley-Students will try and volley the ball back and forth only using the bump. The game starts with a
toss to the other player. Players will start out with….toss, bump, catch before moving to a volley back and forth

CUES
1. Ready position-Knees bent, hands and thumbs flat (pancake, pancake, butter, syrup)
2. Make contact with soft part of arm
3. Follow through toward target

Day 2- Set…when ball is above your head (Pass)


Students will rotate to the same stations as day 1 but use the “set”
CUES
1. Make a diamond shape with hands, fingers spread apart
2. Make contact with finger pads
3. Absorb the ball with fingers and push it up into the air

Day 3 –Serve…starts the game


Students will serve toward designated targets. Students will stand behind the track line trying to hit different target in
the middle of the gym.
CUES
1. Hold ball waist high out in front with non-dominant hand, non-dominant foot forward
2. Bring striking hand back behind waist, follow through forward like a pendulum
3. Use heel/palm of hand to make contact with ball

Day 4 –Game concepts


Students will play a modified volleyball game that incorporates the bump, set, and spike. The object is to utilize the 3
allowed hits.

Students will take a quiz
