II. The Business Concept

Cookie Works is a service-product venture, it provides customers with customizable-cookie

flavors served at a physical store. It is in its early development stages and is in its start-up phase.

The business targets people of all ages who have sweet cravings with a different twist in which
the consumers can customize the flavor of the cookie according to their preference. In addition, we
plan to sell affordable cookies which will be very beneficial to both the consumers and the economy of
the business. Moreover, it will be very beneficial to the consumer itself since they are able to
customize the flavor of the cookie according to their cravings/taste buds.

Our business has licensed and copyrighted multiple aspects of our venture, namely; our recipe
for the base of the cookies; our logo which encapsulates our core values which conveys our loyalty
and customer-oriented nature; lastly our catchphrase that will be embedded in our customers’
minds. The management will apply from the local government unit concerned pursuant to Executive
Order No. 71 and 72 for the approval of plans for cookie shop establishments of the following;
Department of Trade and Industry, Mayor and Business Permit, Barangay Clearance, Bureau of
Internal Revenue, Social Security System, Fire Permit and Sanitation Permit. Distribution of our
products and franchising will not be permitted as of the moment but will be possibly authorized later
in the future.

III. Industry/Market Analysis
The cookie business has a substantial market pertaining to regular cookies and customizing
cookies locally and internationally. TOP Data looked into the American consumption of cookies during
the pandemic and reported that there is an increased consumption of cookies by 25%. The cookie
industry has been creative in making their products stand out. Examples of cookie trends are
incorporating different cookie bases and toppings. It would be beneficial to the cookie industry to look
further into making cookies that can be nutritional to babies and pets as this would widen the market.
The cookie industry can be sustained for a very long time, the reason being there are many ideas of
flavors to test and try out.

The market for the product or service may be obvious, yet the feasibility analysis must
validate its existence. In the venture feasibility analysis, it may be enough to prove that a sufficient
market exists for the venture and that no further in-depth research is warranted. However,
entrepreneurs should always study their competition in the marketplace. Lessons learned from
competitors provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to find the unique distinctions in their own
concept.

Porter’s 5 Forces
The evaluation of the threat of new entrants is high since entering the food and beverage sector
is a distinct possibility, particularly in the Philippines, where it is continuously expanding. As for the
evaluation of rivalry among competitors is high due to the fact that food and beverages in business are
well-known and established in the Philippines, that’s why there is fierce competition among current
companies. In terms of the evaluation of bargaining power of buyers is high since Cookie Works is a
start-up company. There is no guarantee that our products will be marketable and be in demand. It is
also important to be flexible since the business is still unestablished. Therefore, it is necessary for us to
ensure that the customers are able to check the price-range of our products for them to compare and
have a wide selection of cookie flavors they can choose from. The evaluation of bargaining power of
suppliers is low since Cookie Works belong to the food industry, finding suppliers for ingredients is
available widely. Therefore the power of suppliers is low. As for the evaluation of the threat of
substitutes is high because the cookies industry in the Philippines continuously thrives. As a result,
cookie products continue to offer different flavors for consumers. The market can easily switch and find
alternatives as the industry offers a wide variety of biscuits and they are widely spread which can be
located easily. Additionally, other than the cookies, consumers can find alternative products through
other brands/bakery shops.

freshness and warmth of the cookie.

Cookie Works also has preset cookies that come from the different cookie lines; Global Cookies
which exhibit and incorporate different flavors of the world, i.e. the famous “dalgona” flavor from
South Korea. Booze Cookies which incorporate low alcohol content into the cookies, and The Classics

Cookie Works have developed a unique cookie dough that serves as the base of all the cookies
on the menu and for custom cookies. The recipe used for the cookie dough is secret and is an

that these machines may malfunction in the process of making the cookies. Additionally, the kitchen
should be kept clean and free from any debris that might contaminate the cookies as this would
intoxicate the customer and receive a poor rating in sanitation.
