Nutrition is the word used to refer providing our bodies with food. Food is provided by
the head of the family. Eating enough and good food is the best way of keeping the
body healthy. Food helps to make the body grow, give the body energy and make the
body strong against diseases. A person must eat more than one type of food to be
healthy. One should also have enough food for the body to get enough food nutrients.

Hygiene is another word used in connection to our bodies. Hygiene is used to refer to
the activities carried out to keep the body clean. Washing the body and clothes with
soap and clean water helps to remove dirt and germs. Frequent bathing and washing
of clothes help prevent bad smell and parasites. Combing and cutting our hair short
helps to prevent parasites like lice. Lice live under dirty hair and jiggers live under the
skin most on our toes and foot.

Sanitation is the word used to name activities people carry out to keep the
environment clean. It is important to sweep the house and the compound to remove
rubbish. Rotting rubbish brings bad smell and makes the houses and the compound
look dirty. Rubbish also serves as a hiding place for rats. Tall grass hides snakes and
mosquitoes cutting it short removes hiding places for dangerous animals. It also
makes the compound look smart.
