clarifications of our past lesson?
-None ma’am!

If there’s none, let’s proceed to our next topic.

B. Lesson Proper

A. Motivation
(Pupils will watch the presentation.)
Show a 3 minutes presentation about the importance
of plants in our life.

observer to the presentation because it will be part of
your activity later.

You will know later. So, we have to proceed to our

group activity game first.

Alright, this time we will have another activity. I will

be grouping you into three groups, each group will
have a hand-out for our activity. I have here a Manila
paper, what you are going to do is to brainstorm in (Pupils will actively participate to the group
your group and you need to list down all you know activity task)
what are the parts of the plant. Just only what you
see on the plants. Create a name with your groups
with different types of plants whenever I call your
group, the group that can shout the types of the
plants will be the first that have the chance to
answer, you are only given 5 seconds each term, if
there is no answer after 5 seconds then I will call
another group and the group that will have the
correct answer will receive an emoticon which is
again equivalent to 5points. -About plants, Teacher Liezl.

What do you think will be our lesson today? -Yes, Teacher Liezl.

Do you want to learn?

C. Presentation and Discussion

Our next lesson is about the parts of the plant and its
functions.

I have here a picture to show it with you and you will

identify this picture.
-A plant, teacher Liezl.
Okay, Amanda. What picture is this?

Very good!
Design, gives air, beautiful and green
When you saw a plant in your house or everywhere,
what comes into your mind?

So, what are the parts of the plants? Let us discover.

Plants are living organisms that cover much of the

land of planet Earth. You see them everywhere.
They include grass, trees, flowers, bushes, ferns, (Pupils will listen to the discussion)
mosses, and more. It is living thing that grows in the
ground, usually has leaves or flowers, and needs sun
and water to survive.

Let’s us proceed now to the parts and functions of a

plants.

Plants are mainly classified into two parts:

1. The Root System
2. The Shoot System.

(Pupils will listen to the discussion)

Now, let’s talk about the parts of the plants.

(Pupils will listen to the discussion)

(Showing picture of parts of a plant with label)

Leaves, stems, roots, flowers and seeds.

Now, Let’s go to the functions of each part.

ROOT
The root is located below the ground. It helps to
anchor the plant to the ground so it does not fall over.
It absorbs water and nutrients from the soil and sends
it to the stem.

STEM (Pupils will listen to the discussion)

Stem performs much vital work for the whole plant.
They support the plant and held up towards the light.
Stem acts like the plant’s transportation system.
LEAF
A leaf is usually green, flat lateral structure attached
to a stem. The leaf is known as a plant food factory
because it prepares food for the entire plant through
the process of photosynthesis. Under this process,
the leaves make glucose, or food, using sunlight,
water, chlorophyll and carbon dioxide.

FLOWER
Flowers are the reproductive organ of flowering
plants. It makes seeds, which become new plants. (Pupils will listen to the discussion)
Along with reproduction, flowers are also a rich
source of food for other living organisms such as
insects, birds, animals and humans.

FRUIT
A fruit is part of flowering plant which protect the
seeds by covering it.

SEED
A seed is the reproductive part of a plant. It is the
part of plant what we plant in the ground and from
which a new plant grows.

D. Reflective Feed backing

- Shoot System
Pants are classified into two parts, what are they? - Roots System

Which part of the plant makes seeds for a new plant? -Flower

Where do most plants start their life cycle?

C. Closure Activities

A. Generalization

After students listen to teacher’s discussion, they are -We will not be able to survive without plants.
able to answer the following questions: They help to purify the air that we breathe.

⚫ What is the importance of plants in our life? -Plants are different from other animals and
humans in that they are able to produce their

⚫ How plants survive? -Like humans and animals, plants need both
water and nutrients food to survive

B. Application

Children, group yourselves into three groups.

For every group, you will need to use the Manila

paper to make a “graphic organizer or “bubble
quotes” to write down as many as you can on how
important plants in our daily life.

Try to connect the video clips that you have watched

during our motivation and our discussion in order to (Pupils will do the activity)
think and reflect on the different parts of the plants.

Do it for 5 minutes.

Present it in front each group.

Criteria for the Activity:

C. Valuing
(Pupils raise their hands)
Why do we need to study and explore the parts of
the plants? Is there any benefit to us to learn and
discover the different parts of the plants? What does - Plants are an essential resource - we rely on

breathe, habitat, our climate and many more.
Okay, anyone in the class.

Very good! That’s a great idea!

So here are the things that you need to follow and I

will give you materials you need to use to our
activity later.
-We are ready, Teacher Liezl.
Things to follow:

⚫ Grow a plant with soil, seed, water and sunlight

⚫ Grow a plant with sunlight, seed, water but
without soil

Materials to use:

something missing. Let’s see the result in our next
activity. (Pupils read the direction)
