ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Students explained Food, Food, Food! Os the title of Unit 2.
Students has a minute to write down as many food-related words
in English as they can. Students asked to look at the picture on
page 17 and to discuss what they think is going on in it, in small
groups. Each groups asked to tell the rest of the class what they
decided was happening. Student asked to read the caption and they
asked for their reactions to the event and the hamburger,

1. Students read words 1-5 and their pronunciation
corrected where necessary. Students asked to scan the
text to find and underline these words.
2. Students explained that they should carefully read the
sentences each word appears, in the text to try to
understand its meaning before matching them with

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Students asked to keep their textbooks closed. Student write the
words in red in the ‘Word Focus’ on page 18 of SB on the board.
Students asked to discuss with tehir talk partner the meaning of
each word. Then students asked to look at these same words in red
in the text and to check meaning by looking carefully at the
sentences each word is found in. Students asked to read the ‘Word
Focus’ box and compare their definitions with those given.

1. Students asked to look at sentences in 1-3 and elicit which
sentence has a regular verb in the Past Simple.
Activity B(Page 21)
1. Students asked to match the Past Simple a-c, with the
sentences 1-3 in A. Students asked to read the uses of the
Past Simple in a-c and answer any questions they might
have. Students explained that they should pay attention to
time expressions and time references in sentences 1-3
while matching up their answer.

1. Students asked to look at the verbs in bold in sentences 1-
4 and elicit that they are all in the past Continuous, apart
from rang in sentence 4, which is in the Past Simple.
2. Students asked what the infinitive form of each main verb
is and elicit that the last consonant in chop is doubled to
form the present participle form. They asked which other
verbs they know that do this.

a-d and answer any questions they might have. Students

reminded to pay attention to any time expressions and
time references in sentences in sentences 1-4 when
matching up their answer.

1. Students explained that in this part of the lessons, they
will be practising their listening skills. Students asked to
look at the instructions and make sure they understand
what they have to do.
2. Students chose at random to read a number to you. Any
pronunciation problems corrected. The recording played
once all the way through and students asked to write their
answers. Then students asked to discuss their answers
with a partner and to justify any answers that are
different.
3. The recording played again and students asked to check
their answers and write any missing answers.

1. Students asked to read the instructions and make sure
they understand what they have to do. They have to
imagine they are listening to a chef and that he no longer
works at the restaurant he will be talking about.

differences.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Students reminded the word colorful, tasty, traditional, trendy and
lightly-colored on the board. Students elicited that all these words
are adjectives and that we use adjectives to describe, or talk about,
someone or something’s, character. Students asked to read
information on Ordering Adjectives. Students asked what kind of
adjectives the words on the board are.
LESSON DELIVERY Activity A(Page 26)
1. Students asked to read the instructions and make sure
they understand that they have to do two things in this
task- put a tick if a sentence is correct or rewrite the
sentences correctly if it is wrong. Students explained that
any errors will be in the order of the adjectives only.
2. Students encouraged to read sentence through without
writing any answers. They asked to underline the
adjectives in each sentence and to decide what kind of
adjective each one is. They reminded that they can look
back at the information on order of adjectives at the top of
the page to help them with the task.
Activity B(page 26)
1. Students asked to read the instructions and the writing
task in italics and make sure they understand what they
have to do. Students encouraged to underline words and
phrases in the writing task that show that the information
in the true sentences are correct.

decide which ones are closest to their notes before going
