CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction to Internship

The internship program is actually designed to provide students engaged in a real world field
experience to have their sights and visions to be accomplished. The career  related environment
in the education can present many opportunities for the learners  by the help of supervisors of the
company.

The PU for the BCIS requires the final year students to complete a six credit  (minimum ten
weeks/180 hour long) internship as a part of the course requirement. An  internship is on-the-job
training, similar to an apprenticeship, more often taken up by  college and university students
during the undergraduate or master degree in their free  time to supplement their formal education
and expose them to the world of work.  Students are free to choose either government or private
sector organizations for this  purpose. From this training, students are exposed to the real working
environment  whilst at the same time benefit in terms of personal and professional development.
At  the same time, feedbacks gathered from the participating organizations help the  students as
well as the faculty in improving the character and professional skills of the  graduates. The
internship experience is expected to enable the students to assist in the  resolution of complex
problem associated with database systems.

1.2 Problem Statement

It is very important to maintain efficient software to handle information of a Hospital.  This

application provides a way to record this information and to access these in a simple  way. The
existing systems provide the basic functionalities needed to be handled in a  hospital management
environment. There is no intelligence of the software in such cases.  In the existing system all the
patient details, doctor availability details and regarding the  tests done to the patients prescribed by
the doctor is maintained manually by the  receptionist. If a patient has to be admitted we need to
check the availability of the bed  which consumes lots of time if done manually.

1.3 Objective
1.3.1 Internship Program Objective

Internship allow BCIS students the opportunity to work in a professional setting  encouraging
them to apply the theoretical learnings from the previous semesters.  From the process of System
Development cycle to the database relationships,  algorithms and marketing are discussed in the
internship background. It also depends  on the quality and quantity of the IT companies
providing the better supervisors for  students. Some of the objectives of Internship program can
be summarized as:

1. To enhance and supplement formal academic instruction and knowledge.

2. To promote the student’s personal development and professional preparation in  order to
prepare for the real-world IT market of Nepal.
3. To focus both on project oriented and participant-observer oriented theme where a  student can
work on the current project and is also been scrutinize by the mentor or  the supervisor.
4. To apply brain-storming ideas and viewpoints on the problems presented to them.
5. To aware the students about the different procedures and rules applied in industries  such as IT
Law and Policy in Nepal.
6. To give students a broad view or in-service orientation to the possibilities of IT  careers which
helps them to choose or change their professions according to their  interest and passion.

1.3.2 Internship Project Objective

The board objectives of this project are as follows:

1. Identifying the flow of Hospital.
2. To gain practical knowledge about Hospital Management System.

1.7 Motivation

As it is one of the Software company of nepal, at first, I came to know about it through  my friend
where my friend involved their as a employee. When I visit branch office of  pokhara which is

consulting with him, I became familiar with their vision  and objectives. They provide favorable
environment for the trainees by providing  instructors and advising with proper guidelines
whenever necessary.

CHAPTER TWO: METHODOLOGY

2.1 Internship Placement Details

2.1.1 Organization Selection

The selection of organization is twofold. The first is the student’s area of interest and  second is the
willingness of the host company to take the student as an intern. As a  student in search of a host
company for internship program, students are required to  prepare a competent résumé and
perform well in the ‘interview’ and/or ‘assessment’.

I was a taken interview by a organization for post of Implementation and support as a  intern .I
wanted to utilize internship program to explore and learn about Hospital  management system.
After exploring available options, I conclude that to intern under  Mr. Sundeep parajuli at Imark
private Ltd. will be the best option for me to fulfill my  expectations.

Table 2: Duration

2.1.4 Internship Responsibilities

As an intern my responsibilities at Imark is to Configuration of a Software in a hospital.  Support
to Hospital user. Database correction. Gathering requirement from client .Data  migration. Under
the supervision I need to perform the following responsibilities:
1. Software Configuration
2. Requirement Gathering
3. Data correction from backend
4. Data migration
5. Documentation
6. Support user

2.2 Feasibility Study

The feasibility study is a practicability research of a Three-month intern work of overall  learning
and evaluation of Hospital management system .This hospital management  system can able to
track all the activities of patient from he enter to exit from hospital. It helps to record a data of
patient permanently and can able to see history anytime. The  feasibility can be measured on the
basis of certain criteria with the help of quantitative  and qualitative data of the project.

2.2.1 Technical Feasibility

The technical analysis shows we can assure the required resources are positively accessible. Due
to the availability of different tools and knowledge, it makes the project technically feasible.
Technical knowledge about different tools helps to develop the project rapidly. Technical
guidance is also necessary for completion of project. Furthermore, the project fulfills the
requirement of compliance with many agreements concerning to interface of applications,
protocols for communications, privacy and safe keeping standards.

2.2.2 Operational Feasibility
Operational feasibility is a measure of how well a proposed system solves the problems,  and
takes advantage of the opportunities identified during scope definition. For the  system, it is not
necessary that the user must be a computer expert, but any computer  operator given a little bit of
knowledge can easily operate. Since our system is people
oriented and acceptable in social aspects regarding manpower, labor, manager and  organization,
we can conclude that the project is indeed operationally feasible.

2.3 Implementation Tools

To create the user interface of application we are using React JS. To store the data, we use My
SQL database and to store the payment bills we are using the AWS S3. Some of the tasks are
scheduled so we are using AWS SQS for that

2.3.1ASP.NET CORE Framework

ASP.NET CORE is based on the Model-View-Controller (MVC) development pattern. MVC is a
software approach that separates application logic from presentation. In practice, it permits your
web pages to contain minimal scripting since the presentation is separate from the C# scripting. The
Model represents your data structures. Typically, your model classes will contain functions that help
your retrieve, insert and update information in your database. The View is information that is being
presented to a user. A View will normally be web page, but in ASP.NET, a view can also be a page
fragment like a header or footer. It can also be an RSS page, or any other type of “page”. The
Controller serves as an intermediary between the Model, the View, and any other resources needed
to process the HTTP request and generate a web page. ASP.NET core is more than a MVC
framework as it allows you to create Restful APIs and it is very fast, scalable and reliable and it is
one of the best frameworks for the Enterprise application.

2.3.2 MsSQL Server for Database Management

MsSQL, the most popular Open-Source SQL database management system, is developed
distributed, and supported by Oracle Corporation. It handles a large subset of the functionality of
the most expensive and powerful database packages. It works very quickly and works well even
with large data sets. MsSQL is a database management system. MsSQL databases are relational.
MsSQL software is Open Source. The MsSQL Database Server is very fast, reliable, scalable, and
easy to use. MsSQL Server works in client/server system.

2.2.3 Economic Feasibility

The economic feasibility of system is measured by a certain analysis. Cost/Benefit  analysis is a
cost and profit evaluation of the project which concludes that it does not  need a lot of manpower
and investment for startup. The development of the proposed  application is highly economically
reasonable. The organization only have to buy  information or contents from the news vendor
yearly, if necessary, otherwise all  hardware and software cost is minimum. This assures the
profitable ROI (Return on  Investment) in future if the maintenance and popularity of the project
grows.
