Welcome to the Technology and Livelihood Education -Industrial Arts Grade 6 Self-
Learning Module (SLM) on creativity and innovativeness in enhancing/ decorating
bamboo, wood and metal products!

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators


both from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in
helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while
overcoming their personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and

aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into

What’s In

At home or anywhere we go, there are lots of bamboo, wood and metal
products that can be found. What is the best thing to do in order to create
something new out of those old products?

What’s New

It is important that the products you make whether they are made of
bamboo, wood and metals look beautiful and have a high market value. In
this lesson, you will learn the different techniques on how to improve products
made of bamboo, wood and metals. A product’s embellishments, color, shape,
size, and overall designs usually attract customer into buying it. This is the
reason why companies invest a lot in good packaging of their product.

What are the different industrial ways or methods to enhance and
decorate bamboo, wood, and metal products? Are these methods help
improve the quality of our products? How about the life of the families who
engaged in various livelihood activities? Would they do the same? Let us
find out in this lesson.

ACTIVITY 1: Bamboo Flower Vase

Direction: Inside the box is an empty bottle. Collect bamboo sticks and dress
the bottle with your own design using the sticks. You may use paint
to make it colorful to create bamboo flower vase.

Materials: a piece of wood


Varnish
Rugby
Decorating materials

Caution: Do not inhale rugby.


Be careful in using any sharp object.

Direction: Get a piece of plywood. (8x11 size of a short coupon bond)


Using decorating materials of your own, create a beautiful family
picture frame. The finished material must have a picture of your
family.
