Vencel Resil is one of the UKs largest manufacturers of expanded polystyrene (EPS) and under the Jablite brand, supplies a range of bespoke insulation products and solutions to the construction, industrial and housebuilding markets. Vencel Resil specialises in providing industry-leading insulation solutions that meet current and future Building Regulations requirements for the specification of floors, walls and roofs of commercial, public sector and residential buildings.
Established in 1973, the company has been a member of the Synbra Group since 1996. Synbra is a multi-national organisation specialising in producing high quality EPS products throughout Europe. Being part of a European group means having the benefit of access to extensive resources and technology.
Technical support
Vencel Resil provides technical and design support and has a dedicated team of professionals who have extensive experience of working in the industry. Many clients find the technical support they receive invaluable in ensuring that specifications are in line with modern building requirements. Being more than just a manufacturer of EPS products, it is the companys expertise within this sector and the knowledge within its team which establishes Vencel Resil as one of the leading providers of high performance insulation.
Jablite Premium
Jablite Premium is an innovative Low Lambda (EPS) insulation material that has the capacity to enhance a buildings thermal performance by up to 20%. This enables builders and contractors to meet ever tightening Building Regulations without having to change their build practices A relatively new innovation in EPS insulation, Jablite Premium is becoming widely used in the floors, walls and roofs of domestic, public sector and commercial buildings. Instantly recognisable by its distinctive grey board with orange speckles, it provides the reassurances to architects, specifiers and contractors that the material used on site is the same as the one specified and, crucially, that the resulting performance matches the approved design intent. A major benefit of Jablite Premium is that it offers improved U-values without having to alter the thickness of the cavity wall or change the construction of the floor or roof. This ensures contractors on site maintain their efficiency, whilst clients benefit from maximum internal floorspace and low running costs.
Environmental credentials
Expanded polystyrene is recognised for its excellent energy efficiency and low environmental impact. It has an ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) of zero and a low GWP (Global Warming Potential), which is exemplary. Vencel Resil is fully committed to sustainability in all areas of its operation. Energy saving and modern methods of construction are all carefully considered when researching and developing new products, as well as end of life recyclability.
Floor Insulation
APPLICATION:
Floor insulation below ground supported slab
Products: Jabfloor Premium 70 and 100
Jabfloor Premium insulation can be used in all floor constructions for both domestic and commercial buildings. The application will determine the grade of Jabfloor Premium required for your project. Jabfloor Premium 70 is mainly used for domestic floors, whereas Jabfloor Premium 100 is widely used for commercial floors where higher loadings are likely to be encountered. Jabfloor Premium
Jabfloor Premium 70 and 100 can be used below the concrete slab in solid groundfloor constructions to satisfy the relevant U-value requirements.
Type
Jabfloor Premium is supplied as EPS 70 and 100 as defined in BS EN 13163 Reaction to Fire Class E, containing a flameretardant additive.
U-values
The rate of heat loss through a ground floor varies with its size and shape. The thickness of insulation required to meet a given U-value will similarly depend on the size and shape of the floor. Approved Documents L1A , L1B, L2A and L2B guide you to BS EN ISO 13370 as the method for determining floor U-values based on the floor perimeter and floor area where: P is length of exposed perimeter in metres and A is floor area in square metres. The measurement of both the floor area and perimeter should be made on the internal finished surface of the walls enclosing the heated space; unheated areas such as garages, porches and storage spaces need not be included. For buildings such as terraces or blocks of flats and apartments, the measurement should be taken over the total gross ground-floor area. Table 1.1 shows the required thicknesses of Jabfloor Premium 70 and 100, to meet U-values of 0.25, 0.22, 0.20, 0.18, 0.15 and 0.10W/m2K. These values are based on the following k-values: Jabfloor Premium 70 Jabfloor Premium 100 0.030W/mK 0.030W/mK
Easy to handle
Jabfloor Premium is manufactured from expanded polystyrene (EPS) which is lightweight and easy to handle on site
Approvals
Jabfloor Premium has been assessed and approved by the British Board of Agrment for use below the concrete slab in solid ground floors; Certificate number 87/1796.
Permanent
Jabfloor Premium is rot-proof and durable and will remain effective for the life of the building. It also has the added advantage of being flood-proof.
Dimensions
Standard size: 2400 x 1200mm. Standard thicknesses: 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75, 100, 120, 150 and 200mm (Other thicknesses available to order)
Rapid construction
No specialised trades or equipment are required.
Fire
Solid ground floors are not required to provide fire resistance. When properly installed, Jabfloor Premium is fully protected by the concrete slab, and will have no adverse effect on the fire performance of the floor.
Versatile
Jabfloor Premium can be used above or below the damp-proof membrane.
Environment
Expanded polystyrene has been awarded an A+ rating by the BREs Green Guide to Specification.

Jabfloor Premium
Jabfloor Premium should be loose-laid over the prepared surface; all joints should be tightly butted. If the concrete slab is to be poured directly onto the Jabfloor Premium, the joints should be covered with 75mm-wide adhesive tape to prevent the ingress of concrete or grout between the boards. Vertical upstands of Jabfloor Premium edge strip should be used around perimeter to prevent cold bridging, as detailed in BRE Report 262.

Concrete slab
The concrete slab is laid to the required thickness and either tamped or powerfloated to provide the required finish. During these operations, the surface of Jabfloor Premium or the DPM should be protected from impact damage or excessive trafficking by the use of spreader boards.
