Poverty is a widespread and widespread problem worldwide.

In 2015, the number of people

living in extreme poverty worldwide was about 1.2 billion people. If everyone in this group were
to gain complete financial independence, they would have enough money to buy an
unimaginable number of luxury items- such as a new BMW every month for the rest of their
lives. This number is shocking and proves that eradicating poverty is a difficult task. However, it
is not impossible; there are many ways to help end this global epidemic.

One way to help end poverty is by providing social safety nets and welfare programs. These
programs provide sustenance to those who are unable to find it otherwise, and they have proved
extremely effective in reducing poverty rates. The most well-known welfare program is
undoubtedly the American welfare system- the Social Security system- which has been running
for decades now with minimal issues. Other programs that have proven successful in reducing
poverty rates include free school systems and free healthcare systems for all citizens. While these
programs cost money, they are inexpensive compared to the impact they have on society.

If these programs were adopted world wide, we would see immediate changes in how poor
people live. Instead of living on the streets or in poor conditions, people could afford food and
shelter without difficulty. Life would be much more comfortable for those who were once forced
to live in poverty- regardless of whether or not their situation was caused by circumstances, bad
decisions or both. Ending poverty would be much easier if there were social safety nets in place
to help people escape poverty.

Our world would be a much better place if poverty was ended. We would have fewer sick
individuals living off of other people's money without any chance of becoming self-sufficient.
Instead, we would have individuals who are able to make positive choices without being limited
by lack of funds. More importantly, these positive changes would help those who are poor now
and will one day become extremely wealthy due to their natural abilities and hard work ethic.

What messages would you like to bring to

large NGOs, international companies and
government agencies on what they should
do to more effectively end poverty?
Poverty is a complex issue that impacts many aspects of life. The lack of
adequate living standards leads to social and economic problems in the
affected areas. Poverty is a major issue that requires immediate attention.
Large organizations- such as multinational corporations- have the resources
to create significant change. However, they must use those resources in a
way that benefits their local economy and community.

One way that large organizations can help alleviate poverty is by creating
jobs for locals. Many companies choose to outsource labor to countries
where it is cheaper. However, this practice creates more than just economic
disparity; it also displaces the local population from their homes. Jobs
created by international companies often go to people from countries with
the fewest labor laws and standards. This exploitation of workers causes
further economic distress in affected areas, which is why hiring locally is so
important.

Large organizations also have a moral responsibility to improve their

communities- especially when those communities are poor. This could mean
donating money to charity or working with local charities to create solutions
for poverty. Additionally, they could also set up programs that provide
education and employment opportunities for locals. Companies should
utilize their resources to make an impact where they are most needed.

Government intervention is another way to combat poverty. Governments

should implement higher taxes on large companies and international tourists
to fund anti-poverty programs. They could also implement infrastructure
projects to help create more jobs and improve the economy. Plus, they could
also increase the minimum wage so that workers earn enough money to
support their families and pay taxes. Increasing taxes on businesses and
tourists helps offset the added cost of inflation caused by increased
government spending. Plus, it encourages businesses and tourists to look
elsewhere for better prices and more sustainable destinations when they can
afford it better than their own government.

Some people believe that addressing poverty requires the individual’s

involvement instead of large organizations’ involvement. They think that
working locals are not qualified enough for their jobs and that companies
should hire from abroad instead. However, not all locals are qualified for
these jobs either because of lack of education or previous experience. Plus,
employing locals also creates more jobs in other industries that need
employees too!

Others believe that poverty exists solely because poor individuals make poor
decisions and cannot be blamed on society at large. They think that poverty
is self-inflicted and should not be solved by outside forces instead.
Governments should instead focus on improving national economies so that
everyone has the opportunity they deserve in life instead of solving a
nonexistent problem by creating more problems elsewhere!

Others believe that increasing taxes on businesses and tourists will force
businesses to move elsewhere instead of creating new jobs locally. They feel
that only education - not taxes - can solve the problem of poverty instead of
creating more of it through waste education programs like Teach for
America! However, increasing taxes on big business would still generate
revenue for sustainable charities since tourism would still occur with or
without these taxes in place!

Although addressing poverty requires a variety of approaches, large

organizations have a role in helping solve this problem. They can create jobs,
donate money towards charity, or set up sustainable education programs to
tackle poverty at its source instead of creating more problems elsewhere!
