40-45. In the early 1500s, the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan led the Magellan-Elcano
expedition, which was accompanied by Juan Elcano. After understanding more about it, I believe
it is one of the most significant historical events to have occurred. Magellan and Elcano were the
first to successfully navigate the Earth, resulting in numerous discoveries. Magellan's voyage
greatly expanded human knowledge in terms of geography and established, once again, that the
earth is an oblate sphere rather than flat. He was also central to the understanding of the strait,
which presently connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. He has clearly proven that
traveling across the world is possible.
46-50 Juan de Plasencia was one of the missionaries who came in the Philippines, and he was
able to create a book that encouraged understanding of the natives and the local languages
among the missionaries, helping the process of spreading Christianity. During the time he was
writing a book, he confronted a particular challenge in which he considered how he would present
faith for those who had never experienced Catholic teaching before. Despite this, he was the
author of the Philippines' first printed book, "Doctrina Christiana," which was written in a different
language and had the specific goal of spreading Christian teaching throughout the country.
51-55 The Kartilya ng Katipunan was about teaching me and others how to live a good and decent
life by exhibiting how to speak and act like such a real Filipino citizen. One of its principles
emphasizes, "Thou must not look upon a woman as a mere plaything, but as a faithful companion
who will share with thee the penalties of life." This simply encourages every man not to regard a
woman as an object. They must value women as such he remembers his mother, who nurtured
him, whenever he meets or interacts with a woman.
56-60 The Kartilya ng Katipunan has one principle that emphasizes, "Whether our skin is black
or white, we are all born equal: superiority in knowledge, wealth, and beauty is to be understood,
but not superiority by nature." With this, a true Filipino treats everyone equally, regardless of
ethnicity or educational level. It's similar to empathizing with and respecting everyone's unique
characteristics. Our individual differences do not separate us as human beings, it is never
acceptable to expose them to unequal treatment.
61-70 Plasencia's account debunks or disapproves the claim made when Spaniards arrived here
in the Philippines that Filipinos were still lacking in culture and uncivilized, due to the fact that we
already had the context of marriage customs and the customary laws for properties or territory.
As well as the child's adoption, in which the kid would be paid twice as much as they were paid
to be adopted. Furthermore, we have a working government, a tax system, a set of laws, and a
criminal justice system, among other things. Finally, it was mentioned in his account that people
wore various clothing and that every house was decorated with idols. All of this was completed
prior to the arrival of the Spaniards, with the Philippines being described as civilized.
71-80 As was mentioned in Plasencia's account, the friars were assigned to supervise and monitor
the gobernadorcillo's activities. Aside from performing religious activities, during the Spanish
colonial era, the friar was also in authority of the colony's administration. They administered the
election of local executives and assisted with tax collection, as well as being actively involved in
educating the youth and fulfilling other civic tasks. As a result, the friars became the pueblo's most
knowledgeable and important leaders over time.
