GCSE Japanese Yr 10

Curriculum Intent
The Japanese department seeks to develop ambitious and resilient linguists who recognise their common humanity and
strive to gain inter-cultural understanding and respect.
We aim to provide an understanding of Japanese in a range of themes (Identities, Education, Town, Holidays, Leisure, Healthy
living) which enables students to communicate effectively in authentic situations on their exchange visits and prepared for
the challenges of developing the language at a higher level and with an aspiration to continue the language in the Sixth Form.
We intend develop our students to be inquisitive and curious about the culture, knowledgeable and understanding, open-
minded and courageous as they personally develop through their learning of Japanese.

Visits Programmes Within the curriculum

When possible, we offer students the opportunity to visit our Students explore the language through a range of
Japanese partner school, Chuo University Junior & Senior High themes and every opportunity is taken to develop
