Learning Episode 7: Making On-line or Virtual Learning Environment Safe and Conducive

TARGET YOUR INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this Learning Episode, I must be able to explore the different ways of
establishing a safe and conducive on-line or virtual learning environment.
NOTICE

Unlike the traditional face-to-face classroom environment, online or virtual environment

is a bit difficult to manage. It is because Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is imaginary and
not in the physical sense. It has no corners or walls and it can be set up with the support of
technology.

As a teacher, what have you discovered to be easy to implement in your virtual

class?

How I the students show their active participation in class?

ANALYZE

Which of the following is/are your analysis/analyses of on-line learning environment?

______ It was difficult to observe the physical behavior of the students.

______ It takes time for students to learn how to use the platform.

______ Students who are alone in their home space find difficulty to make responses.

______ Internet connectivity is a great factor to support a conducive learning environment.

REFLECT

As a future teacher I feel that the on-line learning environment can be safe if I may be
able to outsmart the hacker; to stop cyberbully; to disclosed my personal information; protect my
password through enabling the password authentication in all social media and email accounts;
turned down the post that could hurt the learners that has been posted by their fellow learners;
create a school policy, and have learners sign it; create an effective cyberbullying reporting
system; get learners involved; keep up with technology; provide resources to students; know the
laws on sexting; set requirements; speak to parents and school administration; effectively impose
and manage the moderate use of gadgets to avoid the risk of exposing the learners of too much
radiation.

I think that teaching in a virtual learning environment is safe more than onsite learning
environment, because on the onsite learning environment learners have to attend class physically.
CHRIST- CENTEREDNESS EXCELLENCE MISSIONARY

So why onsite learning environment is not safe? Recently in thai daycare centre school in
thailand a retired cop killed more than 24 nursery learners and a total death toll including shooter
is 37 according to the police.

While on the other hand, what made the online virtual learning environment safe
according this website and also remind us future educators since we may also acquire this tips in
the future, and the following on how the student should be online with their back to the wall;
Students should not be in their own room; Students and parents need to know how to use the
camera/microphone switches for on/off; You never know who is listening; Remind your kids that
everything is permanent; Hacking is a problem. I realized that those virtual learning environment
safety tips is a massive help, in order for our future learners be safe in an online learning
environment

WRITE ACTION RESEARCH PROMPTS

OBSERVE

Identify the problems brought about by the on-line learning environment.

The problems brought about by the online learning environment are ineffective time
management, lack of instant communication, not receiving timely feedback and clear instructions
or expectations

REFLECT

How would you solve this problem?

I would solve this problem through share time management apps and resorces for learners, utilize
educational technology, increase peer review

PLAN

What initial plan do you intend to do solve the problem?
