viewing from a lower power objective to high power objectives.
_____2. Observing a specimen is still possible even if the diaphragm is closed.
_____3. You need to look at the microscope from the side when turning the coarse
adjustment knob to lower the objective lens to avoid breaking the lens.
_____4. The specimen on the slide should be placed right above the hole of
the stage.

Illustration Steps Correct Order of Steps
1 Look through the eyepiece. Adjust
the mirror until you see a bright
circle of light.

2 Place a slide on the stage and fix it

with the clips. The specimen on the
slide should be right above the hole
of the stage.

Rotate a lower power objective into
position.

4 Place the microscope in an area with

enough light source and adjust the
mirror so that natural light is
reflected through the stage window.
5 Look at the microscope from the side.
Turn the coarse adjustment knob
carefully to lower the objective until it is
very close to the slide.

6 Put a low-power eyepiece into the

microscope.

7 Look through the eyepiece. Turn the

coarse adjustment knob to raise the
objective slowly until you can see an
image of the specimen
