AMAALA TRIPLE BAY CONSTRUCTION VILLAGE

2. ACCESS/EGRESS:
The Access/Egress to the site for the easy movement of workmen, material and
3
equipment will be carried out in a safe manner. Any obstacle shall be properly cleared
either manually or employing suitable equipment (Back Hoe). The area for compaction shall be
identified, marked & cleared of obstructions if any. This clearing shall consist of rocks or other obstructions
that will interfere with proper compaction of the areas.

3. LIGHTING:
Safety Lighting
Tamimi PEB will provide Safety lighting at the entry point/s of the project as such
adequate to the basic security of the site premises or in accordance with the project
requirements.

Task Lighting
Tower light or portable light is use in the dark or in reduced visibility, lights will be fitted
and used to enable the work area to be adequately illuminated. In addition, amber
flashing beacons that give warning of the presence of the vehicle will be fitted and used
if necessary.

General

and checked against the equipment delivery.
6.1.3 Ensure that conduits and fittings are stored and protected against atmospheric
4
action, dust, and dirt.
6.2 Prior to Installation check for the Installation
6.2.1 Conduits and fittings shall be as Project Specification.
6.2.2 PVC coated 40 mils stick rigid steel conduit shall be used in damp locations,
exposed to weather, direct buried underground and as conditions of installation,
operation, and on maintenance requiting protection from liquids, vapors, or solids.
6.2.3 Rigid steel, galvanized conduit shall be used in wet locations, exposed to weather,
in areas subject to mechanical injury defied as less than 2.3 m above finished floor
and accessible to authorized operating or maintenance personnel only.
6.2.4 Rigid plastic conduit (PVC) NEMA shall be used below slabs on grade, encased in
concrete, unless otherwise indicated in approved drawings. Extensions above
grade or concrete slabs shall terminate in rigid steel conduit, using appropriate
PVC to steel adapter.
6.2.5 Space conduit at least 6 inches (150 mm) from covering of hot water pipes, 18
inches (460 mm) from covering on flues and breeching, and 24 inches (600 mm)
from radiant heaters.

be made using water tight, insulated throat, conduit hubs.
6.2.11 Wire fill of standard conduit sealing fittings shall not exceed 25% based on the
conduit size. Larger size sealing fittings with reducers or conduit outlet boxes (e.g.
Course-Hinds GUA series) with appropriate sealing covers may be used in order to
utilize the higher permissible wire fill of the conduit.
6.3 Installation
6.3.1 All conduits shall be installed as a complete system and shall be securely fastened
in place. Conduit shall be supported at least every 10 feet (3 m) and in accordance
with table 346-12 of the NEC. Provide additional supports where required or as

factory made split-hinged pipe clamps.
6.3.3 Where conduits are affected by movements of the supporting structures, a suitable
flexible or expansion joints shall be provided.
6.3.4 Conduits shall be cleaned free from burrs and any other sharp edges throughout
their entire length.
6.3.5 Conduit shall be bounded to the grounding system at both end.
6.3.6 Flexible conduits may also be used in connecting to equipment for short sections
where required for difficult runs or where excessive vibration is anticipated. Flexible
conduits shall conform to the requirements of NEC for the area classification.
6.3.7 If damage to wires can occur by pulling them around bends in any conduit run,
additional fittings or boxes shall be installed. There shall be a maximum of three (3)
5
90º bends or equivalent in a run between two pulling locations. All bends shall have
a radius not less than that required by NEC-34610. i.e. (The inside radius of a bend
in a conduit shall be at least 6 times the internal diameter. When the conduit size is
greater than 50mm (2 inches), the inside radius shall be at least 10 times the
internal diameter of the conduit. For fiber optic cable, the inside radius of a bend
shall always be at least 10 times)
6.3.8 Conduit union fittings shall be inserted in conduits connected to lapped equipment
to avoid the necessity of disturbing the assembly when removing equipment for
maintenance. Running threads shall not be used.
6.3.9 Provide green insulated grounding conductors of size as required by code in all
flexible non-conductive conduits or ducts and other race ways having a length of
flexible or non conduit raceway as part of the run.
6.3.10 Channel erector system components (Unistrut or similar) used to support conduits,
cables, cable trays, enclosures, lighting fixtures and other electrical equipment
shall be made of steel or iron, either hot-dip manufacturer.
6.3.11 Conduit fill shall not exceed the maximum fill specified in NEC Chapter 9.

7. PROGRAMME:

 Hazards/risks
Risk Assessment (See appendix)
 Control measures/permits
Permit to work shall in place prior to any work issued by Tamimi Permit authorizer
and must be communicated to workers, operators & staff.

 Third party protection

Obtain third party inspection for equipment and operator if necessary as per AMAALA
Guidelines in Table 1. Plant and Equipment - Training, Licensing, and Certification
Requirements.
 Environmental considerations and sustainability

6
1. Waste Management

Tamimi shall endeavor to minimize waste streams in line with the principles of the waste hierarchy
 Avoidance of waste at source
 Reduction of waste volumes
 Re-use of uncontaminated spoil within the works
 Arrange for recycling of the waste
 Disposal as a last option

3. Operations of vehicles and plant

To ensure minimal impact from the operation of vehicles and plant, operators shall give due
regard and implement the following
 Minimize route and journey mileage to and from and around site
 Prevent nuisance to the community caused by parking, spoil from vehicle movements, noise and
access restrictions
 Ensure prevention of spillage of spoil, fuels, coolants, hydraulic oils and other vehicle fuels
 Maintain vehicles
 Ensure all vehicles and machinery are turned off when not in use

5. Water Protection:
 Fuels, oils, greases and hydraulic fluids must be stored in bunded compounds a minimum of 50m
from the watercourse.
 Excavators will be modified to operate with biodegradable hydraulic oil.
 Diesel to be stored in double skinned tanks/diesel bowsers – refueling of plant to only take place
if drip trays are in position
 Refueling of machinery will be carried out in bunded areas.
 Runoff from machine service and concrete mixing areas must not enter the watercourse;
 Stockpile areas for sands and gravel will be kept to a minimum size, 50m away from the
watercourse;
 Runoff from the above will only be routed to the watercourse via suitably designed and sited
settlement ponds/filter channels;
 Settlement ponds should be inspected daily and maintained regularly;
 Temporary crossings will be designed to the criteria laid down for permanent works;
 Watercourse banks will be left intact if possible.
 If they have to be disturbed, all practicable measures should be taken to prevent soils from
entering the watercourse.

building under construction. The use of these shall be restricted to those quantities
required for daily use and they shall be removed to the safe storage area each day
after use.
Acetylene is to be strictly controlled by means of the permit system.
Other flammable liquids (such as paint) shall be stored safely within suitable metal
containers/storage huts.
Other materials, particularly combustible materials, shall be brought to site and
stored using the ‘just in time’ approach to avoid excessive fire loading of the

 All on site must complete TAMIMI site safety induction.

 Toolbox meeting must be conducted prior to commence the activity.
 Provide awareness training for the new employee for (tools, equipment and
etc.) and discuss a wide variety of hazards that new workers can encounter
while performing different types of tasks, and explains what they need to do to
avoid those hazards.
 Working at height training
