Cherry Mae D. Panoy

Student

Content Standard The learners demonstrate an understanding of

the different levels of biological organization.
Performance Standard The learners should be able to: employ
appropriate techniques using the compound
microscope to gather data about very small
objects.
Learning Competencies Describe the different levels of biological
organization from cell to biosphere. [S7LT-IIc-3]
I. Learning Objectives At the end of one hour, the student should
 Defined the different Levels of Biological
Organization; and
 Gave example of the different Level
Biological Organization
II. Subject Matter Topic: Levels Of Biological Organization

Preliminary Competencies

Teachers Activity Student Activity

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Greeting:
Good morning class! All: Good morning teacher!
How are you today? All: I’m fine thank you!
Good!
2. Prayer
So, class please stand up for we have to
pray first before we start our discussion
and Jessalyn please lead the prayer Jessalyn: Let’s bow our head and feel the
presence of the lord. In the name of the father,
and of the son, and the holy spirit, amen
Classroom Management
Before we continue, I have some important
reminders,
1. Be ready and have your focus in our
discussion today.
2. Prepare in your desk a notebook and pen, if
you want to take notes
3. Listen carefully while I am discussing in front.
4. Avoid unnecessary noise and things to do in
your seat while we are having our discussion.
5. Participate in any activities that we are going
to do.

Class, did you understand? All: Yes ma’am

Very well
Then class are you comfortable with the seat you
are seated? All: Yes ma’am! We are comfortable
Ok!

1. Checking of attendance
Class, who is absent for today? All: None ma’am
None? Very good?

2. Checking of assignment
Last meeting, I gave you an assignment,
right?
Kindly past your assignment to your front
row without standing up All: Ok Ma’am

3. Review
Before we proceed to our next topic. I
want to recall the topic that we discussed
last meeting.
What’s our topic last meeting? All: Parts and Function of Microscope
Ok, Devine what is microscope? Devine: Microscope is a tool which can help you
see tiny objects and living organisms.
Very good!
Claire how many parts of microscope
based on their function? Claire: Three parts
Meryl what are the three parts that Claire
mentioned? Meryl: Magnifying, Illuminating and Mechanic
Parts
Very good! I am happy that you still
remember it.

4. Motivation
Class have you ever wonder and asked
yourselves on what makes you up and
even the things around you? All: Yes ma’am
That’s good!
I have a picture here and I want you to All: Structure of the human body, intestine,
observe the picture carefully. What do kidney…
you see?
In all the things you have mentioned,
where these things belong to?
Can humans survived if these organs in All: Humans
the picture I have shown will be
removed? Chedyl what do you think?
Why is it so Flora? Why can’t humans Chedyl: No ma’am, humans can’t survive
survive?
Flora: They cannot survive because the human
Very good! Human has an organ and each body need them to function properly.
organ has a specific function that is why
they are classified on their own specific
organ system. Based on the picture what
organ system they belong to?
Very good! All: Digestive System

I concluded from what you mentioned

that every part is interrelated and is
necessary for your continuous existence
on this planet. It is guided by the rule,
“All for one, one for all” because these
parts of your body will not work alone
instead it works as a whole. One part will
not be able to work properly if other part
is missing. It is also same as our planet,
the life in our planet.
Lesson Proper

A. Activity
In related to it I have an activity here
called “I am What?” wherein you need to
match the column A which is these
pictures to column B which are words
that is related to the pictures in the span
of 2 minutes. This activity will be
recorded as your performance, so do well
and think well. I will divide you into four
groups. For these left side, the first two
column will the first group and second
column is the second group. For these
right side the first two column is the third
group and the last will be the fourth
group. Each group should prepare ½
crosswise paper because you will right
down your answers there.
Gather around your respective group and
let’s start. Remember you only have 2
minutes to answer it.
You may now start!
(after 2 minutes)
Times up! Bring your papers to the front
and I’ll be the one to check the activity.
Class go back to your respective seat.

B. Analysis
Based on the activity what do you think
our topic for today? Marlon?
Good! another one, Erica? Marlon: About Biology
All are right! Very good! Erica: Hierarchy
Our topic for today is Levels of Biological
Organization. The words and pictures in
the activity, that is all part of it. We will
classify it and you can also observe if all
of the answers that you choose to match
in the activity are correct or accurate. Of
course, like what the title of our topic is
all about, we will identify the correct
order or sequence from highest level of
biological organization up to the lowest.

What do you think is the highest level of

biological organization? Arlynda
Arlynda: The highest level of biological
Very good! The highest level is Biosphere. organization is Biosphere
What is Biosphere? Anyone? Yes Lorelyn!
Lorelyn: Ma’am Biosphere is a part of the Earth
Correct! Biosphere is the part of the where life exist
Earth where life exist or where living
things exist and can sustain life. The
Biosphere extends from the deepest root
system of trees, to the dark environment
of ocean treanches, to lush rain forest
and highly mountaintops. Anywhere as
long it can sustain life.

Next level, what do you think is the

second highest level in biological
organization? Princess!
Very good! Yes the second is Ecosystem. Princess: Ecosystem
Emmie what do you think Ecosystem
means?
Emmie: Ecosystem is a community and its non-
Regie Mae what do you think the third living surroundings
highest level is?
Good, the third highest level of biological
organization is Community. In science, Regie Mae: Community
Community is called Biological
Community wherein it is an interacting
group of various species in a common
location. That means species that live
together in a defined area.
Ijane gave examples of biological
community?

Ijane: Pond, Grassland, Deep ocean, Forest of

trees and undergrowth, Plants inhabited by
Thank you Ijane, that is all correct animals and rooted in soil containing bacteria and
fungi
The fourth highest level of biological
organization is Population. Clyde what do
you think Population means?

Very good and thank you Clyde. All the Clyde: Population is a group of organisms of one
individuals of a species living within a type that live in the same area.
specific area are collectively called a
population. For example, a colony of ants
living in a garden. Different populations
may live in the same specific area. For
example, the forest with the pine trees
includes populations of flowering plants
and also insects and microbial
populations.
Maby gave another example
Very good!
Maby: People living in Tabango
Next level, Gerimie what do you think is
the fifth level?
Good the fifth level is Organisms
Organisms is the individual living thing Gerimie: Organism
that is made up of one or more organ
system.
Donald, could you give me an example?
Very good!
Zeph, gave me another example Donald: Human
Very good!
All living things are called organisms. Zeph: Plants

Another level, which is the Organ System.

I know all of you know this
Christian gave 5 examples of Organ
System
Very good! Christian: Respiratory System, Circulatory system,
Desiree what do you think Organ System Digestive System, Nervous System and
means based on the examples? Reproductive System

Good! Desiree: An organ system is a group of organs

Ok class let’s go back to Zeph’s example that work together to perform a certain function
of Organism which is a plant and in an organism's body.
according to Desiree’s definition of organ
system that organ system is a group of
organs that work together to perform a
certain function in an organism’s body.
My question is do plants have an Organ
System?
Mia what is the organ system of plants?

Very good! Class: Yes

Mia: Organ system of plant is a shoot system and
Ronalyn, what is the next level? a root system.
Very good!
Organs is a collection of tissues that
structurally form a functional unit Ronalyn: Organs
specialized to perform a particular
function.
Jessalyn gave 5 examples of organs under
the Respiratory System?

Very good!
Jessalyn: Lungs, Nose, Mouth, Throat and
Next level which is the second lowest Trachea
level is Tissue.
Michelle what is Tissue?

Very good! And Devine gave me two

examples of tissues Michelle: Tissues is a group of cells performing
Very good! similar functions.

Of course, in each of that tissues have Devine: Muscle tissue, and Nervous tissue
their own cells and Cells is basically part
of and is the lowest level of biological
organization.
So, Lorelyn gave me examples of cells
Very good!

Class that is all the different levels of Lorelyn: White blood cells and Red blood cells
biological organization from highest to
lowest level!
C. Abstract

With anyone of the components being absent, the biological organization will suffer in more than one
way. In all the levels of this organization, the individual components are responsible for everything
which make life possible.
