OFFICE OF THE 2022 BAR CHAIR

BAR BULLETIN NO. 12, S. 2022

FINAL REMINDERS FOR EXAMPLIFY
REGISTRATION AND SAMPLE EXAMINATIONS

In Bar Bulletin No. 11, s. 2022, the deadline for examinees to register and
install Examplify, and to take both Sample Examinations was extended to October
31, 2022. As of the close of registration, there were 376 examinees who have yet to
register and install Examplify in their devices, as well as 139 examinees who have
yet to submit an answer file for Sample Examination 1 and Sample Examination 2
despite the extension of the deadline therefor.

While there may be examinees who are still encountering issues with their
respective devices which may have affected their compliance with this directive, the
Court emphasizes anew the underlying reasons for requiring the Sample
Examinations – to familiarize examinees with the interface of Examplify, and to
determine the compatibility of their laptops’ specifications with the minimum
system requirements of the testing software. In this regard, examinees who took both
Sample Examinations are reasonably presumed to be acquainted with the navigation
of the testing software and the tools they may use while taking the exam. Any
technical issue or incompatibility with Examplify which may arise while taking the
Sample Examinations will also allow examinees to address these concerns prior to
the actual examinations.

In this light, examinees who are uninitiated with the features of the testing
software may have to contend not only with their answers to the Bar Examinations,
but with the navigation of Examplify and any technical issue that may occur therein.
Thus, following the close of the registration period, the Court reiterates its reminder
in Bar Bulletin No. 9, s. 2022, i.e., that examinees who do not know how to navigate
Examplify will not be given assistance for this during the Bar Examinations.

Further, with the Bar Examinations approaching, examinees are strongly

encouraged to keep in mind some best practices in preparing their laptops for the
examinations. To ensure uninterrupted examination taking, examinees are advised
to:

• Memorize the log-in credentials for the laptop and for Examplify.
• Ensure the laptop’s compatibility with the minimum system requirements of
Examplify.
• Check whether the correct version of Examplify is installed: (1) for Windows
OS, Examplify version 2.9.6; and (2) for macOS, Examplify version 2.9.2.
• Disable the laptop’s sleep or hibernate settings. (Note: The settings may be
restored after the afternoon examinations.)
• Check that the date and time settings are accurate, and synced with the
Philippine Standard Time.
• Ensure the functionality of the laptop’s internal battery and charger, as well
as its wireless internet card.
• Bring a two-pin type A plug adapter as the power outlets in the Local
Testing Centers (LTC) may vary.
• Disconnect the device from any Virtual Private Network (VPN) to ensure
connectivity to the LTC’s WiFi.
• The day before the examination, make sure to disable updates in the laptop’s
operating system.
• Disable all antivirus software installed on the laptop. (Note: The antivirus
software may be enabled after the afternoon examination.)
• Before starting the examination, close all open programs or applications.
(Note: Examinees are encouraged to uninstall, in the meantime, any
messaging applications or programs in order to avoid any unintentional or
accidental opening of these programs during the days of the Bar
Examinations.)
• Before launching Examplify, connect the external keyboard or mouse, if any,
by pairing the wireless keyboard and/or mouse via Bluetooth, or plugging the
wired keyboard and/or mouse to the laptop’s port, as the case may be.

Prior to arriving at their chosen LTC, examinees should also ensure that their
Supreme Court-provided accounts for the 2022 Bar Examinations are logged in to
Examplify. Furthermore, since the morning and afternoon exams would be made
available for download on the Examplify dashboard twenty-four (24) hours before
the start of each Bar Examination day, examinees may download both exams
beforehand. The exam files must be downloaded only on the laptop that
examinees intend to use for the Bar Examinations. Only one (1) download of
each exam file shall be allotted for each examinee.

Examinees should plan ahead and manage their time wisely. Examinees who
fail to download both exam files during the designated download time will be given
a download period after the start of each exam. However, the time that will be taken
up to download the exam files will be deducted from their allotted time in answering
the questions. No extensions shall be given.

Finally, the Court emphasizes that the examinees’ laptops serve as their
testing booklet. For this reason, although the computer software is designed to
prohibit examinees from exiting the application and accessing other applications
during the test proper, examinees are advised not to store any file in their laptops
that has a reasonable connection with the substance and procedure of the
examinations to dispel any suspicion of or occasion for any dishonest behavior.
Examinees are advised to transfer their law-related files and review materials into
an external disk or to other devices before taking the Bar Examinations.

For your information and guidance.
