The lion and the cows.

Once upon a time there lived four cows in the forest.


Everyday they used to graze together in a particular spot. They were all friends. One day a lion
saw the cows grazing together.
The lion wanted to eat them so he went to catch them.
When the cows saw the lion, all of them fought with him. The lion had to run away.
A few days passed and the cows quarreled between themselves and started grazing separately.
One by one the lion killed all of them.

understanding of synonyms and to antonyms by relating them with their relevant
words.
Synonyms
Synonyms are words that mean the same or almost the same.
Example: -
This is Saman. He is Thin.
Synonyms of the word ‘thin' include ‘slim', ‘slender' and
‘skinny'.
So, we can also say
 He is slim.
 He is skinny.

Antonym
An antonym is a word which means the opposite to another word.
Example: -
This is Ravi. He is happy.
Antonym of the word “happy” is “sad”.
So, we can say “He is not sad.”

Competency level 6.1: - Construct simple sentences
Objective: - At the end of the activities, the students will have used the present
continuous tense to talk about activities people are doing in the present time.
Structures: "I am", "He is", "She is", "They are". Target Vocab: cooking/ eating/
drinking/ drawing/ sleeping/ walking/ reading/ playing.

present continuous tense


The present continuous tense is often used to talk about a continuing action or something happening at
the moment of speaking.

 We use the auxiliary verbs “am” / “is” / “are” with present participle verbs (verb +
ing) to make present continuous sentences.

Competency level 6.9: - Use adverbs appropriately.
Objective: - At the end of the activities the students will have demonstrated the
understanding of adverbs by using them to describe verbs appropriately.

Adverbs
We use adverbs to describe how somebody does something.
Example: -
This is Nuwan. He is the best student in my class. He always does
well in exams. He does his homework correctly and enter the
classroom quietly. But he is terrible in sports. This is because he runs
so slowly.

 As you can see in the example, we normally add 'ly' to an adjective


to make an adverb.
 But not all adverbs are made by adding ‘ly’ to adjectives.

There are in all four types of vitamins: Vitamin A, B, C and D, you will get Vitamin A form
milk, butter and eggs. Vitamin B is given from meat and eggs. Fruits and vegetables will give
you Vitamin C. We can get Vitamin D from fish oil and sunlight. A lack of any of the above
four vitamins may cause certain diseases. Lack of Vitamin A may cause blindness, lack of
