Ìyáàmi Òsòròngà - Mother of Witches

Aje E Ile, o s o Ile, m’ohun mi,

Witches and sorcerers of the Earth, you all know my voice,

Eleye kii ba eleye wino.

This comes from Odu Ifa Oturupon Odi

Iyami Òsòròngà - Divine Power, who lives between Heaven and Earth in space, which is called
orita meta aragbansala. Iyami Òsòròngà Adzhe - Mother of Witches, birds or manages eleye
(class of spirits). Olodumare (creator) has given these powers of the world that they control
nature. Before arriving at Earth, these forces have lived in Ikorita aragbansala - the space
between Heaven and Earth. When these forces arrived on Earth, they settled at the crossroads -
orita meta ona-ara. They also settled in Iroko trees. (From Wood Iroko (Cholorphora excelsa),
manufactured OPON (board ELISA) and other ritual tools used in the rituals of Ifa).

According to the teachings of Ifa, there are two categories of bird’s forces - eleye; «useful" and
"harmful."

(A) «Useful" also known as "white birds" bring benefits. They protect against external
aggression, hunger, epidemics, and infertility.

(B) «Harmful» eleye can be divided into two groups: "black birds" and "red bird".

(I) «Black" is usually harmful to others. They cause infertility, create disorder; give rise to hatred
and other forms of destruction.

(Ii) «Red" also hurt others, and does not listen to anyone who applies to them.

Many verses of Odu Ifa, Odu and Merindinlogun (prediction with 16 cowries) may indicate the
existence of problems with these forces. Or to solve specific tasks necessary to hold a ceremony
IPESE (pacification forces Iyami Òsòròngà). Identify the need for the ceremony, May, through

Translation: When the birds are headed to Earth from the spirit world.

Translation: They told him that they were heading to Earth

Orunmila Ni kinni won nlo se

Translation: Orunmila asked, "For what purpose?”

Translation: They said that their mission was to make a mess

On Iyami Òsòròngà reported in many verses of Odu Ifa, like this: Oyeku meji, Irete Meji,
Irete Olota, Ogbe Yonu, Odi Meji, Ogbe Osa, Osa Meji, Irete Ogbe, Ose Oyeku etc. Ode
Irete meji tells us about how these forces came to Earth. Ode Irete Owonrin - talks about
how Orunmila came to learn their secrets. This verse contains the details of how a person can
enter the lucid dreaming (ala). Ode Ogbe Ogunda says that makes these forces are angry. Also
described as Orunmila exploring the mysteries of appeasement of anger of those forces. Verse of
the Ode Irete Owonrin reports on how Orunmila grasped the mystery of this force.

Owuyewuye awo ile Orunmila.

Orunmila ni ilu eleiye t 'on lo yii, on le r'idi nwon?

On si le ko re bo nibe? Nwon ni k'Orunmila o rubo.

Translation: Owuyewuye - Babalawo fulfilled the prediction of Ifa for Orunmila in the day when
Orunmila going to go to the Land of Birds. Orunmila asked Ifa - I'm going to the ground the

work.

Witches predicted that Orunmila goes to them, and decided to feed him poisoned soup.

Translation: Ash turned into a man and went to the witch. He told them that Orunmila has a bird

When Orunmila sat among the witches, they were told that very carefully being watched, and not

Nwon ni k'o si ni adie opipi. Nwon ni k'o ni eko kan. Nwon ni k'Orunmila o ni egbe fa owo.
Orunmila sise e bee.

Translation: Orunmila consulted the Ifa in the day when witches gathered to kill him. Ifa
recommended to Ebo. Ifa said - to take the seed ekujebu, chicken, etc.

(These materials are used to appease the forces of birds). After the spiritual work Orunmila
protected. Witches could not understand how Orunmila defended.

(Orunmila protected mystery of birds, so he was protected from exposure to them and knew how
to appease them).
