following questions.

1. In what occasion would you send:


1. a request letter,
2. a complaint letter, and
3. a thanking letter?

     Give one example of a situation for each of them (to whom and from
whom the letter was sent as well as the context).

      2. You received a gift you really wanted from your friend on your
birthday. Write a thanking (body) letter stating how grateful you are for
receiving the gift.

For question 1, you can answer either in English or Indonesian. For


question 2, you must write in English.

1. The situation of a request letter, complain letter and thanking letter


1) A request letter is a letter used for the buyer to request something from the seller.
The offer or request submitted can be in the form of:
a. asking for catalogue, price list, prospectus
b. asking for details
c. asking for samples, demonstrations
d. asking for discount/suggesting for methodes of payment and terms
e. asking for goods on approval, on sale or return
f. asking for an estimate or tender

Example: a head of department PT. Angkasa Pura Kargo, Akbar R. Saputra asking
estimate to CEO of building contractors, Mrs. Qisthi to enlarge their warehouse Jalan
Adi Sucipto Km. 12 Tanjung Pinang City.

Dear Mrs. Qisthi

We are PT. Angkasa Pura Kargo is a subsidiary of PT. Angkasa Pura II with a service
focus on cargo and logistics services located in Tanjungpinang. We are looking for
estimates to enlarge our warehouse in Jalan Adi Sucipto Km. 12 Tanjung Pinang City.
If you can provide a competitive estimate, please contact us.
Thankyou for your attention. We appreciate for ypur early reply, as we would like to
make a decision within the next few months.

2) Complain letter is a letter that containing complaints when you feel aggrieved. A
letter of complaint is usually made when receiving wrong goods, receiving poor
service, receiving unsatisfactory quality of goods, receiving delays in received
goods/services, receiving damaged goods, or receiving inappropriate prices/bills.

Example: I Had ordered children's toys at an online store named Toys Kingdom, but
some items were found to be damaged, so I ask the customer service requested an
exchange.

Dear Mr/Mrs,
OUR ORDER NUMBER 160922
We thank you for the promptly delivering of the toys ordered on 10 November 2022.
Even though we ordered 15 toys, but unfortunately 5 of them found to be damaged.
I sending an unboxing video along with this letter. I wish I could exchange a broken
toy for a new one

3) Thanking letter is a letter of thanks that aims to provide a close relationship. The
relationship in question is the engagement in working with other companies.
Examples: I’m as HRD of PT. Angkasa Pura Kargo Tanjungpinang thanking for Mr.
Santos as a loyalty business partner
