    social and literary criticism from the 17th century to the 21st century, what significant
    changes have you observed on the development of style and thematic content of literary
    pieces?

    Throughout history, literature has been a persistent manifestation of artistic feeling.


    Literature has evolved and changed over time as a result of America's evolution. Colonial,
    Revolutionary, Romantic, Transcendental, Realism, Modern, Harlem Renaissance, Beat
    Generation, and Postmodern are the nine eras that comprise this dynamic historical period.
    New literary eras have begun in response to preceding eras and events throughout history.
    When a new age presents itself, American literature adapts prior ideals, beliefs, and literary
    traits. When a new age presents itself, American Literature adapts prior ideals, beliefs, and
    literary traits; this progression is due to changing society views.

    2. Colonialism has been part of literature. How did it give color and add flavor to its
    themes and content?
    Colonialism has played a big role in the changes in a countries literary styles, because of the
    influenced brought by colonizers to a country, changes in literature of that country is
    inevitable. An example of this is Changes in Philippine literature, where changes were
    brought forth by a new set of conquerors such as the Spaniards and Americans. New literary
    forms were introduced, such as free verse, the modern short story, and the critical essay.
    3. As this generation's literature student, what are your personal choices and preferences
    when it comes to selecting a piece to view or read? Discuss.

    As a literature student of this generation, when choosing a literary piece to read, I usually go for
    the adventurous ones. I do read other genres, but the adventurous ones, such as the Percy
    Jackson and Harry Potter series, are always one of my favorites. This is because when I read
    these types of novels, I can feel myself being a part of the characters' adventures, which makes
    it a very fun experience for me.
