I. INTRODUCTION:
Almost everyone knows and have already eaten a banana. It is widely spread
all around the country. It’s supply in the market is pretty high and always in demand.
Though, just eating a plain old banana is pretty lame and can get boring after so many.
Although there are some other banana recipes out there, they are already known and
have been tasted by so many people and those people are already starting to get tired
of it. So, we students, entrepreneurs have developed an innovative idea, introducing
the banana pie.

The banana pie is a pocket pie which is a rectangular shaped-pie with a crispy
crust/bread on the outside with a creamy banana purée filling on the inside. This pie is
easy to execute and is definitely going to appeal to the demographic of Diffun. We
chose the banana to be made into a pie because it is already abundant in our local area
and banana is a very flexible fruit. It can be made into various kinds of foods like
desserts and dishes. Also, since bananas are cheap, we think that our innovative idea
is going to be profitable.

Since we are going to cook it with love, our banana pie will be delicious,
creamy, rich, savory, moist, fruity, healthy, air fried, crispy on the outside with a soft
and sweet banana purée filling on the inside so people would really want to buy more
of it. Our product contains banana which is a fruit that is rich in potassium. Eating one
or more bananas per day is considered a moderate intake for most healthy people.
Mixing it with margarine will make it even healthier, this is because margarine is
made from vegetable oils, meaning its composed of “good” unsaturated fats.

In terms of commercial production, we used bananas because of its availability

and it is a very abundant material in our community. Having farmers supply for us
will help them sell their bananas faster and then we can mark-up the prices of banana,
thus improving the economy of our community.

A. OBJECTIVES:

This business aims to generate an income of at least 50% of the cash equity to each
proponent. It also aims to provide a learning opportunity to the fellow student entrepreneurs,
as well as give them the needed business managing skills for future application. This also
provides a nostalgic, inexpensive, delicious and a nutritious food for the consumers.

II. MARKET STUDY

A. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

A Banana pie or Banana pocket pie is a rectangular shaped-pie with a crispy

crust/bread on the outside with a creamy banana purée filling on the inside. The banana pie is
made from Lakatan bananas (Musa acuminata). It is normally deep fried with a coating of
bread crumbs and a loaf bread. It is a popular nostalgic food for most Filipinos since,
everyone grew up with the Jollibee’s peach mango pie.

B. DEMAND STUDY:

Everyone from different kinds of age group loves the Banana pie. It is because of its
crunchy texture, savory and creamy filling, as well the overall nostalgic feeling we get with

every bite, since everyone grew up eating the peach mango pie of Jollibee. It is usually eaten
as a snack on the go, making it easier for everyone to enjoy it anytime anywhere. Thus, there
is a high demand for this product.

C. SUPPLY STUDY

The supply on bananas is pretty high, due to the fact that bananas are available all year
round and bananas are abundant in the Philippines on account of being easy to grow. All
things considered, it’s safe to say that we wouldn’t run out of bananas anytime soon. Thus,
there will be no problems regarding the supply of the ingredients.

VI. SOCIO-ECONOMIC STUDY

We all know that Philippines is well known for its variety of recipes in
cooking bananas. Since the beginning banana has been a part of Filipino culture
that has been cooked in many ways. Like our favorite afternoon merienda banana
cue or also called as sugar-coated skewered banana. Banana cue is one of the most
popular street foods that you can see across the Philippines.

Banana cue is almost the same as our product. It is a pocket-sized snack

that you can carry and eat anywhere. Banana pie is mostly composed of banana
which we can buy everywhere, especially on marketplace as the supply is
abundant. Local farmers who are willing to sell their harvested bananas to us for
our business will be able to benefit from us. Thus, both parties can benefit from
each other.

Moreover, it will lessen the instances of bananas being wasted since they
weren't sold. This will improve the banana industry as we are able to help cope
with the supply and demand. Additionally, most of the ingredients that we
purchased for our product will help maintain economic stability of businesses in
the local market as we are able to purchase more as our business prosper. Overall,
the banana pie will not only become a simple mirienda, but can also help in
maintaining the banana industry and will benefit the local farmers and the
economy of the market.
