Welcome to the 2019 MULTIVAC Training and Service brochure, where you will
find information on our Training Department’s courses including both Engineering
and Operator training.
All courses are available across the full range of Packaging, Processing, Portioning
and Slicing machines and our courses focus on optimising machine performance
and minimising machine downtime.
We are happy to design bespoke courses to suit your specific business needs,
which can be run at either our Swindon Training facility or your site.
The use of tablets also allows us to reduce our carbon footprint through the
reduction of printing of paper based training manuals.

Multi-skills - The New Generation
of MULTIVAC Thermoformers
WHO IS IT FOR?
New customers or new employees. They will need to be competent
Electrical / Mechanical engineers with at least 1 months MULTIVAC
experience.

• An explanation of safety guards and emergency stop circuits
• An in-depth understanding of the IPC control panel
• A working explanation of forming processes
• A working explanation of the sealing station
• An explanation and breakdown of the Beckhoff PLC and flash card
• An explanation and breakdown of pneumatic and vacuum valves
• Determining different film types and properties
• Maintenance required around the whole machine
• An in depth explanation of electrical and pneumatic circuit drawings
• Instruction on cutting equipment
• A working explanation of the advance system
• How to carry out die changes and adjustments
• Fault-finding sessions, with faulty components and materials
• A graded examination to complete the course

Traysealing
WHO IS IT FOR?
Engineering delegates who require an in-depth working knowledge of
MULTIVAC Traysealers. Delegates will need to be competent
Electrical / Mechanical engineers, who have at least 1 month’s experience
of using MULTIVAC machinery.

• In-depth understanding of the machine control panel
• Working explanation of the sealing and cutting stations
• How to carry out die changes and adjustments
• Removal and setup procedures of the loading and die lifting system
• Working explanation of the top web advance system
• Explanation and breakdown of pneumatic and vacuum valves
• Determining different film types and properties
• Maintenance required for the entire machine
• In-depth explanation of electrical and pneumatic circuit drawings
• Fault-finding sessions, using defective components and materials
• Graded examination to complete the course

Line Leaders and
Machine Minders
WHO IS IT FOR?
Line leaders and machine minders who have the responsibility for day-to-day
operation of MULTIVAC machines.
COURSE CONTENT
• Checking the function and operation of all emergency stop buttons
• Visual and operational inspection of all safety guards
• Checking all side covers and interlocks are secure
• How to safely remove trim from the transport chains
• How to carry out a vacuum test and understand the results
• How to perform a heat impression in the forming die
• How to safely clean all heater plates
• How to remove dies
• Basic machine maintenance
• Chain lubrication
• How to check for sufficient air and water to the machine, and clean filters
• How to test the transport chains for wear
• How to remove, clean and replace rotary cutting devices
• How
to make setting adjustments to improve pack quality and keep the
machine operational

leaders and maintenance personnel who require performance enhancing or
problem solving skills.

• Explanation of the labeller control panel
• Explanation of the printing station
• Creating various print formats
• Determining different film types and properties
• Setting up Photo Electric Control (PEC) for top web alignment

Onsite Training
OBJECTIVE
The specific objectives of these courses is determined by you. Typically it is to
develop an understanding of the principles of MULTIVAC machinery in practice,
and to maintain maximum production efficiency. .
COURSE CONTENT
Courses are tailored to meet your specific requirements.
WHAT IS REQUIRED?
A dedicated machine must be available as well as a room for theory and
practical training. Training will be carried out by experienced MULTIVAC
Technicians.
All courses require a 100% booking fee which will be refunded with 14 days notice

and Gas Flushing
WHO IS IT FOR?
Electrical and Mechanical engineers who have at least 2 years’ experience
of using MULTIVAC equipment, or engineers who have recently attended the
MULTIVAC Multi-Skills training course.

SERVICE CONTRACTS
A MULTIVAC service contract is a bespoke programme of pre-planned
maintenance, designed to ensure that your machine is kept in optimum
condition.
For an annual fee (which can be paid yearly, quarterly, monthly or
bi-annually) we will service your MULTIVAC machine on a regular basis
or exact period tailored to suit your needs, dependant on machine age,
cycles and environment.
Our experience, with over 25 years of service contract knowledge, shows
that incorporating a planned maintenance programme for your MULTIVAC
machine, will save you money, reduce the risk of machine breakdowns
and increase efficiency.
By choosing a MULTIVAC service contract you save if the planned
maintenance is Monday – Friday, as there are no overtime rates. Better
still, for a fixed known price, you will save at least 20% on labour costs of
maintaining your machine. Secondly machines under a MULTIVAC service
contract receive a discount on all spare parts used under the planned
maintenance schedule.
