ABSTRACT:
 InThis Project We Should Learn The Simple
Control method of Induction Motor With
Improved Dynamic Response And Steady-
State Performance.
 InThe Simulation Results,We Should
Observe The Steady- State Performance and
Quick Dynamic Response By Using PTC
Method.
INTRODUCTION :
 Here, We are Using Induction Motor Than
DC Motor.Because Of It has Lower Cost,
Robust Characteristics and Higher
Reliability.
 The Main Advantage Of Induction Motor is It
Consumes the 95% Of Load.
 There are three Control Methods to Reduce
Torque Ripples :
1) Predictive Torque Control (PTC) Method
2) Direct Torque Control (DTC) Method
3)Model Predictive Control (MPC) Method.
 This PTC Method Removes the Large
Amount of Ripples as compared with the
Remaining two Methods.
 This PTC Can handle with over-current
protections.
 This PTC Method Reduces the Ripples Of
the Stator Current and Torque.
DTC Method MPC Method

 The Main Drawback  The Drawback of

of the DTC Method MPC Method is it
is the Torque Ripple increases the
size of the DTC Torque and Stator
depends on both flux Ripples.
operation state of
the motor and the
voltage Magnitude
of DC- Link
Capacitor.
Block Diagram : Block Diagram of PTC
Method
 This Block Diagram shows the process for
Torque Ripple Reduction By using PTC
Method.
 This Block Diagram Consist of two parts :
1. Open- Loop Control System
2.Closed- Loop Control System
 Inthe Open- loop System,We can Use Both
Rectifier and Inverter.
 Here Rectifier Is not visible .But it
compulsory to Reduce the impurities in our
supply.
Conventional PTC Method :

 In Conventional PTC Method, The Voltage Is

Fixed and It Produce large Torque Ripples
and Slow Dynamic Response.
 From the Block Diagram :
Te*- Reference Torque
LambdaS* - Reference Flux
. Te - Measured Torque
LambdaS - Measured Flux
PROPOSED TORQUE RIPPLE REDUCTION
METHOD
 To Simplify The Control Structure Of the
Conventional PTC, We can Limit the active
Voltage Vector Magnitude (Uk=Kus).
K= Coefficient (0<K<1)
 When We Increases K to improve
Dynamic,The Torque Ripples also increases.
 When We Decreases’K’, the Torque Ripples
also decreased and Dynamics will slow
down.
 To overcome this Disadvantage, keep the
value ‘K’ as Variable.
 We can obtain the active Voltage Vector
Through Mathematical Equations to Minimize
the Torque The and Flux LambdaS.
 This Torque Ripple Reduction Method for the
Proposed PTC has Two-step Design.
 The First Step is to determine the Magnitude
of the Reference Voltage.
 Thesecond Step is to Modify the Reference
Voltage Vector U*mod.
 Here,The Coefficient ‘K’ has to be Changed
by the Proposed PTC Method to improve
Dynamics and minimize Torque Ripples.
 In the Block Diagram,We are Using Flux and
Torque Estimation block to estimate The and
LambdaS.
 In the Predictive Control block,We can Set the
∆Te to Zero and Calculate the Us*.
 In the Ripple Minimization Control, The
Magnitude of the Modified Reference Voltage
Umod* is Determined by ∆LambdaS.
 Inthe Stator Flux Controller,It Creates the V*
Using Hystersis Control Technique with
Umod*,TetaR and ∆LambdaS.
 If ∆LambdaS is greater than Zero, the Final V*
is selected by |Umod*| using Teta mod*
 If ∆ LambdaS is Smaller than the Zero, the
Final V* is selected by the |Umod*| using
π-teta mod*.
 This Final V* is given to the SVM method to
Control the Inverter.
OPEN LOOP DIAGRAM EXPLANATION :
SIMULATION RESULTS :
We should observe the behaviour of the Torque
ripples in two methods :
1) Conventional PTC method
2) Proposal PTC method
1) Conventional PTC Method :
 Fromthe Simulation Results,It Can be
Proved that”When the voltage is fixed, it
produce large amount Ripples and Slow
Dynamic Response”.
 The below figure(A) shows the Simulation
Results of Motor Torque and Stator flux with
Load 300 r/ Min.
 The below figure (B) Shows the Simulation
Results of Motor Torque and Stator flux with
Load 500r/ Min at in -accuracies
Ls =Lr=146.213MH.
 Fig(A) :

 Fig(B):
2) Proposed PTC Method :
 Fromthe Simulation Results It Can be
Proved that”When the voltage is Variable,it
Minimizes the Torque Ripples and improves
the Dynamic Response”.
 The below Figure (C) shows the Simulation
Results of Motor Torque and Stator flux with
Load 300 r/Min.
 The below Figure ( D) Shows the Simulation
Results of Motor Torque and Stator flux with
Load 500 r/ Min at in- accuracies
Ls= Lr=146.213 MH.
 Inthe proposed PTC Method we can
Minimize the Torque Ripples by using
Mathematical Equations.
 This proposed PTC Method varies the time
duration of voltage vector.
 This proposed method Reduces the Torque
Ripples and improves the Dynamic
Response.
 Fig-(C) :

 Fig-(D) :
 Inthe following Simulation Results, We can
Observed that the Torque Ripples are low
at the In-accuracies Ls= Lr=141.213MH.
 Inthe following Simulation Results, when the
voltage Magnitude value increases the
Torque Ripples are also increases.
Ls=Lr=156.213MH
Conclusion :
 ThisPTC Method provides the Control
method to improve the Dynamic Response
And Steady-State performance .
 The proposed Method minimizes the Torque
Ripples and provides better Dynamic
Response based on Mathematical Equations.
 From the Simulation Results,It can be
concluded that, “The Ripples Produced in
Conventional Method are Minimized in
Proposed Method.
