Read the following short description about Ananda Coomaraswamy


and fill in the information sheet given.

Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy was born in Colombo, Ceylon, now


Sri Lanka. He was born on 22nd August 1877. His father was Muthu
Coomaraswamy and his mother was Elizabeth Beeby. Coomaraswamy
attended Wycliffe College in Gloucestershire and entered University
College, London. He studied Geology and Botany. Then he served in Sri
Lanka as a geologist and mineralogist. Coomaraswamy wrote more than
30 books on different subjects.

Origin of the Buddha Image, The Essential Elements of Buddhist
Iconography etc. are some of the books he wrote. Coomaraswamy made
important contributions to the philosophy of art, literature, and religion.

My school is Dharmapala Vidyalaya. It is in Middeniya. It is a mixed
school. It has several large buildings, a library and a small playground.
It has classes up to grade thirteen. There are about sixty teachers and
about one thousand five hundred students in my school. The founder
of my school is Sir Henry Steel Olcott. Our principal is Mrs.Chamila
Gunasekara.

The place I like most is the library. There are very valuable books in it. I
borrow books from the library every Friday. When I am free, I go to the
library to read newspapers.
All our teachers are very kind, friendly and helpful. I am proud of my
school.
