Timun Mas

Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

Hello everyone my name is Fajrina Risti Maharani, I am fourth grade

student of Makrifatul ilmi Islamic Boarding School . now in this occasion I
would like to tell one of folklore from central of java the title is timun mas.
Long time ago, lived an old women named Mbok Sirni. She lived by herself
because her husband had long passed away and she had no children. Every day she
prayed to god to give her a child. “oh my god I’m so lonely without anyone
accompany me, so please give me a child, I’ll be patiently waiting for it … so
Please…please answer my prayer …. aamiin.”
One night, when she was praying, a giant named buto ijo passed her house
and heard her pray. " ha….ha….ha…. mbok sirni ! I will give the thing that you
want, I can give you a child but on one condition, You must give the child back to
me when it is seventeen years old." Said buto ijo. Mbok Sirni was so happy, she
did not think about the risk of losing the child later and agreed to take the giant's
offer.
Buto ijo then gave her a bunch of cucumber seeds. Mbok Sirni planted the
seeds around the house. The seeds grew within several days, and blossom
plentifully. Not longer after that, a big golden cucumber grew from the plants. In a
hurry Mbok Sirni plucked the golden cucumber and carried it home carefully. With
caution and care, she sliced the cucumber. She was very surprised to see a
beautiful baby girl inside the cucumber. She then named the baby Timun Emas (it
means Golden Cucumber).
Years passed by and Timun Emas has grew to become a lovely and beautiful
little girl. She was also smart and kind. Mbok Sirni loved her very much. But she
kept thinking about the time buto ijo would take Timun Emas away from her. Until
One night, Mbok Sirni had a dream.
The next morning mbok sirni told timun emas about her dream. “Timun
emas my lovely daughter last night I had a dream and in order to save you from
the buto ijo , I had to meet the holy man who lived in Mount Gundul” said mbok
sirni. The next morning, Mbok Sirni took leave of Timun Emas to go to Mount
Gundul. The holy man then gave her four little bags, “Timun Emas can use these to
protect herself,” said the holy man to Mbok Sirni.
A few days later, buto ijo came to see Mbok Sirni about her promise. “ha ha
ha… Mbok Sirni! Where is Timun Emas? I will take her back.. ha ha ha ha ha”
shouted buto ijo. In a worried mbok sirni said “My daughter, take these bag with
you. It can save you from buto ijo . Now, run through the back door,” said Mbok
Sirni. But buto ijo saw Timun Emas running to the woods. “ Where will you go
timun mas? I will Cacth you !!”
The giant was getting closer and closer, so Timun Emas opened the first bag,
She threw the seeds, and instantly it grew into large cucumber field. But buto ijo
ate them all giving him more strength. “ hmmm….. delicious “ As the giant was
getting close, Timun Emas took the second bag with needles inside and spilled the
content behind her. The needles turned into bamboo trees, sharp and thorny. The
giant’s body was scratched and bled. “Aaargh, Argh….. Argh….!! I’ll get you,
Timun Emas!” shouted the giant as he tried to get himself out from the bamboo
field. He made it and still chasing Timun Emas.
Timun Emas then reached the third bag and spilled the salt inside. The
ground which the salt touched turned into a deep sea. The giant almost drown and
had to swim to cross the sea. After some time, he managed to get out from the
water. Timun Emas saw the giant coming, so she reached for the last bag. She took
the shrimp paste and threw it. The shrimp paste became a big swamp of boiling
mud. The giant was trapped in the middle of the swamp. The mud slowly but
surely drowned him. Helpless, he roared out, “Help! Heeeeelp…!” Then buto ijo
drown and die. Since then, Timun Emas and Mbok Sirni live happily ever after.
Ok everyone from the story we can take some lessons , first.. we should do
something outside our hope, second we should keep our promise and the third the
kindness will be vital to the crime. Thanks for your attention guys, see you later
and the last I say Wassalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.
The rabbit and the turtle

Once upon a time in a far away village there was a rabbit. One hot summer day the
rabbit wanted to go for a swim. He went out from his den to find a river. Along the
way he met a turtle. And they began talking.
“ hello turtle ! it’s hot today , isn’t it ? do you know if there’s a river near here ?
asked the rabbit.
“ yes. There’s one not far from here. If you follow the path, you’ll get there” the
turtle answered.
“Could you show me the way please ? asked the rabbit. “ Sure ! “ answered the
turtle happily.
So, the rabbit and the turtle started walking together to the river. “walk faster
turtle…Walk Faster ! I want to get to the river quickly ! the impatient rabbit said.
And why is that ? asked the turtle !
Because I’m a rabbit. Rabbit are fast, turtle are slow the boastful rabbit answered.
“ot me !” replied the turtle. “Rabbits can run and hop turtle just crawl” laughed the
rabbit.
“:Not me !” protested the turtle. “ I can walk and I can swim”
“Well… I can jump! Turtles can’t.” the proud rabbit replied..
“Oh really !! but I can beat you in a race” said the turtle.
“What ! you can’t beat me in a race?”, “I’m a rabbit you’re just a turtle”, Said the
rabbit.
“Well. Let’s try and see!” Said the turtle
So the rabbit and the turtle decided to race to the big old tree on the other side of
the river.
Get ready ! get set ! Go !!!
The rabbit went hop, hop, hop, the turtle went walk, Walk, walk.
After the rabbit had gone a long distance he stopped and called.
“Hey turtle where are you ?”
A turtle sitting by a tree answered “I’m here”. The rabbit thinking that it was the
same turtle was racing was suprised. “Oh ! there you are” he exclaimed. And ran
off again . so the rabbit went hop hop hop. After a long distance he stpped and
called. “ hey turtle where are you ?” another turtle sitting nearby answered, “I’m
Here !” again … thinking that it was the same turtle he was racing the rabbit was
very surprised. Oh !! there you are ! he exclaimed . and hopped of again. The
rabbit went hop hop hop hop hop hop and again after a long distance he stopped
and called “ Hey turtle where are you ? another turtle sitting nearby anwered. “I’m
here !” the rabbit was very surprised that the turtle could keep up with him. But he
couldn’t let the turtle beat him so the rabbit went hop hop hop. run..run…run….
run…. Run… faster and faster…. Run ..run faster and faster… the rabbit was very,
very tired. And dropped to the ground. Thinking that he was far ahead and that
there was no way for the turtle to catch him. The rabbit decided to take a nap under
a tree.
And the turtle. The turtle went walk. Walk, walk. Slowly and surely. Walk walk
walk walk.
He dove into the river and went swim, swim, swim. Slowly but surely and he
crossed the river. The turtle went walk, walk, walk slowly but surely. Patiently
talking to himself. I’ll get there. I know I’ll get there.
The rabbit slept longer tha he ad thought.when he woke up.. he Called, hey turtle.
Where are you. There was no answer. So thinking he had one the race, the rabbit
went hop hop hop to finish the race. However to his surprise he found the turtle
waiting for him at the finish line. And … The turtle had won the race.
Oke gaes from the story we can take some lessons, first, don’t be arrogant !

second nothing is impossible as long as we want to try and fight to make it happen.
