A Mechanical Checks prior to Start-up


1 Check the make, model and type of the installed pump as per
approved drawing and submittal.
2 Check the location of pumps as per approved drawings.
3 Ensure the method statement and test report formats are approved
prior to testing and commissioning.
4 Check the inertia base and deflection of AV moments as per
approved submitted and drawings.
5 Check all pending snags are cleared.
6 Check availability for access to all components for testing and
commissioning.
7 Check availability of space for cleaning of strainer.
8 Check shipping bolts / clamps are removed prior to start-up.
9 Check there is no rust formation on the equipment and complete
touch-up painting if required.
10 Check the pipes / valves connected to pump are supported
independent.
11 Ensure alignment is checked and completed as per manufacturer’s
instructions.
12 Check the provisions for anti-vibration as per approved details and
submittals.
13 Check all piping connections are complete including flexible
connections as per approved details.
14 Check all nuts, bolts, screws etc., are secure and tightened as
required.
15 Rotate the pump shaft manually and ensure it rotates freely.
16 Check identification labels / tags are provided as per approved
submittals / details.

17 Check and ensure the piping network is flushed and cleaned.


18 Obtain and verify factory test reports of pump.
19 Installation of pump’s certified by manufacturer or their
authorized local representative.
20 On initial start-up check for correct direction of rotation.
21 Check and ensure prior to start-up the impeller and shaft are
lubricated and rotating freely.
22 Check for any unusual noise and vibration on start-up.
B Electrical Checks prior to Start-up
1 Check and verify the factory test reports of VFD’s.
2 Check all cabling and control wiring is completed and tightened as
required.
3 Check the provision of grounding as per approved drawing and
details.
4 Check cables have been tested verify test reports prior to start-up.
5 Check the isolator is fixed close to pumps for emergency shut-
down and maintenance, as per approved drawings.
6 Check the line voltage and phase rotations as per requirement prior
to start-up.
7 Ensure all identification works are complete.
8 Check the current drawn by pump motor is normal on initial start-
up.

9 Record all test results on approved commissioning format.


10 Ensure VFD manufacturers representative completes the pre-
commissioning checks.
