The Eucharistic Celebration and Baccalaureate Mass

of the Academy of International Education Class 2021 – 2022

Introductory Rites
Commentator: Good morning my brothers and sisters in Christ. The liturgy of the Eucharist
which we will witness today is the celebration of the success of the academic
year 2021-2022, as it comes to a close, and the joyous life of our beloved
students. This year marks the struggles of our dear graduates and completers
who may have broken their hearts in two and the triumphs that gave delight in
their hearts. They embark on courage, dedication, perseverance, and excellence
throughout the year amidst the challenge. It is today when Christ makes things
work for our good. And weave us into His hand. Let us be Christ’s living
witnesses in this Eucharist, just like Him, let us be merciful, show love, and
pursue kindness. Let us rejoice and be fulfilled by His grace and love. May this
be the instrument to look forward with respect to universal values and adhere to
become a builder of the community.

To celebrate with us, we have ________________. As one community, let us all

stand as we sing the entrance hymn.

ENTRANCE HYMN
(After the people have assembled, the priest and the ministers go to the altar while entrance song is being sung; when the
priest comes to the altar, he makes the customary reverence with the ministers, kisses the altar. Then, he goes to the
chair)

GREETING
After the entrance song, the priest and the faithful remain standing and make the sign of the cross, as the priest says;

PRIEST: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
ALL: Amen.
Then the priest, facing the people, extends his hands and greets all present with the one of the following greetings;

PRIEST: May the grace and the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the
fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you always.
ALL: And with your spirit.
PENITENCIAL ACT
PRIEST: My brothers and sisters, in the presence of Jesus Christ, let us renew the awareness of
our many shortcomings and the need to be purified through his forgiveness.
A brief moment of silence

ALL: I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
(strike
breast) through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I
ask
blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to
pray for me to the Lord our God.

PRIEST: May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting
life.

ALL: Amen.
KYRIE
ALL : Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.
Christ have mercy. Christ have mercy.
Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.

GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST

ALL : Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for
your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Fa- ther,
You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right
hand of the Fa- ther, have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most
High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen!

OPENING PRAYER
Afterwards the priest, with hands joined, sings or pray;

PRIEST: Let us pray.

Priest and people pray silently for a while. Then the priest extends his hands and sings or says the opening prayer, at the
end of which the people response;

PRIEST: Oh God our father, you sent your Son among us to kindle the faith of the people you
have made your own. We pray, the grace you have bestowed, that our graduates and
completers may grasp and rightly understand in what font they have been washed, by
whose Spirit they have been reborn, by whose blood they have been redeemed. Through
our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy
Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

ALL: Amen.
Commentator: Let us all be seated as we listen to the word of God. The Book of Acts tells
us how the Church grew in numbers and esteem, thanks also to the healing power of
Peter and the other Apostles. (Pause) The first reading;
LITURGY OF THE WORD
The reader goes to the lectern for the First Reading. All sit and listen. To indicate the end, the reader adds;

First Reader: A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (5:34-42)

But someone in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law
honored by all the people, rose up and ordered the men to be put outside briefly. And he
said to them: 'Men of Israel, you should be careful in your intentions about these men.
For before these days, Theodas stepped forward, asserting himself to be someone, and a
number of men, about four hundred, joined with him. But he was killed, and all who
believed in him were scattered, and they were reduced to nothing. After this one, Judas
the Galilean stepped forward, in the days of the enrollment, and he turned the people
toward himself. But heal so perished, and all of them, as many as had joined with him,
were dispersed.
And now therefore, I say to you, withdraw from these men and leave them alone.
For if this counsel or work is of men, it will be broken. Yet, truly, if it is of God, you will
not be able to break it, and perhaps you might be found to have fought against God.' And
they agreed with him. And calling in the Apostles, having beaten them, they warned them
not to speak at all in the name of Jesus. And they dismissed them. And indeed, they went
forth from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were considered worthy to
suffer insult on behalf of the name of Jesus. And every day, in the temple and among the
houses, they did not cease to teach and to evangelize Christ Jesus.

The Word of the Lord.

ALL: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM
The cantor sings or recites the psalm;

READER: As we are one in Christ, let our response be;

One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.
The people respond;

ALL: One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.

READER: The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector
of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?

ALL: One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.

READER: One thing I have desired of the Lord; this will I seek after; that I may dwell in the
house of the Lord all the days of my life. That I may see the delight of the
Lord, and may visit his temple.

ALL: One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.

READER: I believe to see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.

ALL: One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.

READER: Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart; and wait
thou for the Lord.

ALL: One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.

Commentator: Let us all stand to honor the Holy Gospel.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: ALLELUIA, ALLELULIA, ALLELULIA

The priest goes to the lectern. He sings or says;

PRIEST: The Lord be with you!

ALL: And with your spirit.
PRIEST: A proclamation from the holy Gospel according to John 6:1-15
ALL: Glory to you, Oh Lord.
PRIEST: After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is that of Tiberias.
And a great multitude followed him, because they saw the miracles which he did on them
that were diseased.
Jesus therefore went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
Now the Pasch, the festival day of the Jews, was near at hand.
When Jesus therefore had lifted up his eyes, and seen that a very great multitude come to
him, he said to Philip: Whence shall we buy bread, these may eat?
And this he said to try him; for he himself knew what he would do.
Philip answered him: Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that
every one may take a little.
One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him:
There is a boy here that hath five barley loaves, and two fishes; but what are these among
so many?
Then Jesus said: Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. The
men therefore sat down, in number about five thousand.
And Jesus took the loaves: and when he had given thanks, he distributed to them that
were set down. In like manner also of the fishes, as much as they would.
And when they were filled, he said to his disciples: Gather up the fragments that remain,
lest they be lost.
They gathered up therefore, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five
barley loaves, which remained over and above to them that had eaten.
Now those men, when they had seen what a miracle Jesus had done, said: This is of a
truth the prophet, who is to come into the world.
Jesus therefore, when he knew that they would come to take him by force, and make him
king, fled again into the mountain himself alone.

At the end of the Gospel, the priest adds;

This is the Gospel of the Lord.

ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Commentator: Let us all be seated for the homily.

After the homily

Almighty Father.
ALL: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of His name, for
our good and the good of all His Holy Church.

PRIEST: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, at all times to acclaim you, O
Lord,

but in this time above all, to praise you yet more gloriously, when Christ our Passover

has been sacrificed. For he is the true Lamb who has taken away the sins of the world;
by dying he has destroyed our death, and by rising, restored our life. Therefore,
overcome with paschal joy, every land, every people exults in your praise and even the
heavenly Powers, with the angelic hosts, sing together the unending hymn of your
glory, as they acclaim:
ALL: (to be sung) Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts. Heaven and Earth are full of Your
glory. Hosanna in the highest, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna
in the Highest.

Commentator: Please remain standing.

The priest with hands extended, says;

PRIEST: Lord, You are holy indeed, the fountain of all Holiness.
He joins his hands, holding them extended over the offering, says:

He takes the bread and, raising it a little above the altar, continues:
PRIEST: He took the bread and gave you thanks. He broke the bread and gave it to His
disciples, and said:
He bows lightly.
PRIEST: Take this, all of you, and eat of it; for this is My body which will be
given up for you.
He shows the consecrated Host to the people, places it again on the paten, genuflects in adoration.
Then he continues:
PRIEST: When supper was ended, He took the cup
He takes the chalice and, raising it a little above the altar, continues:

blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed
for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of
Me.

When we eat this bread and drink this blood, we proclaim Your
death oh Lord, until You come again, until You come again, we
proclaim Your death oh Lord.
Then the Priest, with hands extended, says:
PRIEST: In memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Father, this life-
giving bread, this saving cup. We thank you for counting us worthy to stand
in your presence and serve you.
May all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ, be bought together
in the unity of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, remember your Church throughout the world; make us grow in love,
together with Francis, our Pope, Antonio, our Bishop and all the clergy.
Remember our Brothers, and Sisters who have gone to their rest in the hope
of rising again; bring them and all the departed into the light of your presence.
Have mercy on us all; make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the
Virgin Mother of God, with the Apostles, and with all the Saints, who have
done your will throughout the ages. May we praise you in union with them,
and give you glory.
He joins his hands.
Through your Son, Jesus Christ. He takes the chalice and the paten with the host and,
lifting them up, sings or says:
