BBSA/DBSA 2204: BUSINESS ETHICS / BUSINESS ETHICS PRINCIPLES

LEVEL: SECOND YEAR, SECOND SEMESTER


Contact Hours: 3 hours per week; 15 weeks = 45 hours
Tutorial Hours: 2 hour per week; 15 weeks = 30 hours

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This introduces students to analysis of ethical issues arising in contemporary business life. It
covers the concepts of ethics as applied to business, ethical business values and practices.
Sample topics include: fair and unfair competition, responsibilities towards employees,
society and the environment, honesty and integrity in business, and the moral status of
corporations. Basic Principles are discussed and relevant values nurtured to shape the
student to act in a manner sound and ethical all times.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of this course are to;
1. Enable students to gain the knowledge pertaining to ethical concepts in business.
2. Teach students to appreciate the role of ethics in business
3. Preparing students understand the ethical business practices and inspire them to become
responsible citizens.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. Identify different codes of conduct and their applicability in the field of work.
2. Appreciate the importance of value systems, rights and duties and moral rules, and
community morality in the business organization.
3. Handle their future managerial roles responsibly by applying ethical business practice
