REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

The relevant literature that has been reviewed by researchers is presented in this chapter. Several
books that are connected are taken from secondary sources like audio and video, books, articles, journals,
and scholarly papers.

LOCAL LITERATURE

[According to Ruth Abbey Gita-Carlos., December 2019] The ROTC join the Reserve Officers
Training Corps (ROTC) or its training program, as Rodrigo Duterte advised, and be patient as those are
prerequisites for graduation from the Philippines' educational system. Duterte demonstrated his patriotism
by encouraging senior high school students to foster the sense of nationalism and patriotism necessary for
the protection of our nation and to concentrate on training and hard work in order to create a prosperous
nation. He also thinks that the required ROTC will help him realize his goal of providing the Filipino
people with a nice existence. It is claimed that ROTC is significant and that students should participate in
it to develop their nationalism.

A legislature filed a disagreement statement against putting a mandatory ROTC for grade 11 & 12
students, because many students or "victims'' of ROTC have been exposed to corruption and hazing, and
also it cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that some of the students who were listed for ROTC died because
of corruption. An example of students who died because of ROTC is Mark Welson Chua, he died on
March 18 he exposed his school's ROTC corruption in their public application then after that he started
getting some death threats then on march 18 his body was founded bloated decomposing body in a carpet
floating in the pasig river. [As cited by Mara Cepede December., 2018]

FOREIGN LITERATURE

Women were banned in direct combat in the late 1980's. The study focuses on gender fairness
among ROTC. The US selective service system currently excludes women due to gender-neutral policy.
However, Individuals specially women or transgender are still discriminated against in terms of military
services. They believe that women are unable to acquire the necessary accolades for positions across the
military [As cited by Barret Peavie at Walden University., 2018] . "Colleges should not recognize ROTC
until the military extends equal rights to womens and transgender". Furthermore, The current policy
disordered the gender-neutral policy in military ROTC. The Effectiveness of social change should be
changed with the inclusion of both genders. [According to Peavie., 2018]
