INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background

PKL (Field Work Practice) is an effort made by all vocational schools, especially at the
SMK level, to introduce each student to what it's like, how to get to know the outside world
(business world) and also to add experience, especially Majalengka 1 State Vocational High
School.

Where so far students have been doing practical learning on a small scale, it makes
students feel bored with that's all they see and do every day. To overcome this, the State
Vocational High School 1 Majalengka held PKL (Field Work Practice). By holding a program
like this, it can make students who are educated feel happy and also increase their
knowledge.

Apart from being able to hone the skills they have learned so far at school, they can also
get to know the business world or the institutions where they do their internships. Hopefully
with the holding of this program education in our country will be more advanced and
developed, especially in the field of vocational schools.

1.1.1. DU/DI Overview

PT. AMANAH JAYA PERSADA is a place for the business world in the
industrial sector (workshop). Located on Jl. Raya Lame RT 04/04 Leuwimunding
District, Majalengka. In this place there are several kinds of machines that are used to
support the business world, including conventional lathes, milling machines, CNC
machines, and others.

PT Amanah Jaya Persada often accepts students to carry out internships/PKL.

Apart from school students, there are also students who have carried out street
vendors in this place. In addition to assisting employees in completing their work,
students are often invited by employees to send ordered goods or buy new products
out of town.

Pak Adi and Pak Wawan are the main directors at PT AMANAH JAYA
PERSADA and have 5 employees working at the PT where they have different tasks,
there are as production and also as operators. And there is 1 person as Drafter whose
job is to draw workpieces to be turned or milled.

Amanah Jaya Persada already has a name/business entity, namely PT

(Limited Liability Company). This place has also collaborated with other industries,
for example with PT. KALDUSARI NABATI, PT. WIKA INDUSTRI, and so on.

2.4 Work Process

Before making hinges, we must first know what tools and materials must be provided,
the following are the tools and materials that must be provided, including:

 The tools that must be provided are:

1. Wearpack (workshop clothes)

2. Lathe

3. Caliper

4. Saw / cutting tool

5. Safety glasses

 The materials that must be provided are:

1. Iron (workpiece)

2. Pictures/designs of hinges

 Work steps:

1. Cut the workpiece into 2 parts, one for the stepped shaft and the other for the hollow
shaft

2. Lathe both surfaces of the stepped shaft and the hollow shaft

3. Lathe diameter of stepped shaft and hollow shaft according to JOBSHEET

4. Multilevel shaft lathe according to JOBSHEET

5. When finished, both ends of the shaft are graded in the CHAMFER according to the
JOBSHEET

6. Make a center on the hollow shaft

7. Make a hole in the hollow shaft using a lathe by first using a 9 mm drill bit then drill 15
mm

8. Lathe the surface of the shaft with holes due to traces of drilling

9. One end of the hollow shaft in CHAMFER as finishing work process

10. Save the equipment used in the box/equipment area then clean the machine parts

11. Lubricates lathe parts such as, machine base, sleds etc.
2.5 Implementation of Work Safety

Occupational health and safety has now occupied an important place in the company,
especially in construction work. A sense of security and comfort at work is a demand for
companies to be able to fulfill it in order to provide job guarantees for project workers,
employees, or school students who are carrying out Field Work Practices (PKL).

To avoid work accidents, PT. Amanah Jaya Persada implements work safety
procedures which include:

1. Use the tool according to its function and comply with the procedures for using the tool

2. Return the tool and rearrange it to its original state

3. Carry out work in accordance with existing procedures

4. Clean the workplace to make it look neat

5. Wearing PPE (Wearpack)

6. Obey the workshop regulations.

At PT Amanah Jaya Persada, implementation of occupational safety and healthhas

been going quite well, when employees practice using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
However, it is still seen that employees do not heed the regulations in the workshop, such as
not wearing goggles during the turning process and not wearing a mask while in the
workshop.

2.6 Results Achieved

What I achieved during my field work practice were:

a. Gain insight into the wider world of work
b. Add new knowledge about machining techniques that have not been obtained at
school,
c. Get experience of what it's like to work in the industrial world, learn to deal with
the problems faced in carrying out tasks, and get used to when you have to deal
with the work environment,

d. Learn to think maturely and professionally in carrying out tasks,

e. More grateful and more appreciative of the hard work of others.

CHAPTER III

FINDINGS

3.1 Implementation (Supporting and Inhibiting Factors)

- Supporting factors

1.Assisted with employee guidance,

2. A clean work environment that makes me feel comfortable in carrying out tasks,

3. Good and friendly employees make me not need much time to adapt to the work
environment,

4. Adequate facilities can help me to do my assignments quickly.

- Obstacle factor

1. Lack of mastery of tools that we just know and of course we don't understand what
these tools are used for and how to use them,

2. Lack of experience so that the work done is sometimes halting and takes quite a
long time.

3.2 Perceived Benefits

1.Good cooperation between one team,

2.Gaining new knowledge and experience,

3. Adding knowledge about how to install the chuck on a lathe,

4. Knowing more about what can be made on lathes and milling machines,

5. Know the names of the tools and workpieces used in the street vendors.

3.3 Development/Follow Up

1. Will develop skills in accordance with what has been learned in the world of
business and industry,

2. Will apply what is learned at the Field Work Practice to friends who don't
understand or even can't yet about how to use lathes and other machines,

3. Proposing to schools to improve students' abilities in dealing with the

implementation of Field Work Practices,

4. Suggest to the school supervisors to increase the activities of guiding their

students during internships or street vendors.
CHAPTER IV

CLOSING

4.1 Conclusion

After doing this Field Work Practice (PKL), I got a lot of experience and
knowledge. If at school we are taught various theories, during the Field Work Practice
(PKL) that theory will be used as the basis for carrying out an activity (Practice). The
experience gained in the field of work, especially in terms of technical implementation,
is more practical when compared to the lessons received at school, this is because in
the field it is required to use time as efficiently as possible with the smallest possible
errors. Meanwhile, in schools the learning experience is aimed at actual things from
scientifically based theories that can be accounted for and scientifically proven. In
essence, street vendors activities are very useful for developing what is taught in
school. Street vendors are usually referred to as a complement to the process of
being involved in the world of work (DU/DI).
4.2 Suggestion

 Suggestions for schools:

 The school should place students who will carry out Field Work Practices (PKL) in the
world of work (DU/DI) so that they are in accordance with their expertise program so
that students can really apply the knowledge gained at school to be applied in the
world of work,
 Improving the quality of students with truly tested debriefing so that there is no
impression that the implementation of street vendors is only a fulfillment of the
curriculum,

 Schools with national standards should have tools and materials adapted to the
changing times and more complete equipment provided as a means for learning.

 PKL debriefing is accompanied by provision of student discipline from supervising

teachers,

 Debriefing before the release of street vendors participants must be further

strengthened and more effective by providing a broader explanation about the world
of work (DU/DI) that will be occupied and holding trainings that are expected to be
carried out in the world of work (DU/DI) so that it makes it easier for students to carry
out Street vendors and provide an overview of the conditions and jobs that exist in the
world of work (DU/DI).
 Suggestions for workshops:

 If there are students who are street vendors, please give them quicker directions and
guidance so that after finishing the street vendors, students' knowledge and
experience will increase.

 At the end of the street vendors, please test students for their abilities so that it will
make it easier for students in the assessment and also the name of the workshop in
question will be better because it has produced/produced skilled street vendors
students,

 With the Field Work Practice (PKL) program, it is hoped that there will be a good
cooperative relationship between PT. Amanah Jaya Persada and SMK Negeri 1
Majalengka.
