“Sandaang Damit”

Fanny Garcia

There was a poor girl who studied. Her silence in class is noticeable, and she often just sits in a
corner. She is always teased by her classmates because she always wears the same clothes every day.
When it's time for recess, they see her with only a piece of bread without stuffing. Every time she goes
home to their house, she tells her mother about her sufferings at school. Her mother truly felt sorry for
her and told the girl that she would only buy her new clothes and a nice bag if her father got a job.

The day came when she understood their family's situation. She does not tell her mother about
the teasing she experiences from her classmates and has learned to keep her feelings to herself. One day
the girl couldn't stand the teasing of her classmates anymore, and she learned to fight back. She told
them that she had hundreds of clothes in their house. Her classmates did not believe her.

In order to make them believe, she explained the designs of each of her clothes one by one, and
because of this, they believed in her. She was accepted by her classmates and became their friend. She
also became talkative and is no longer shy. Sometimes they even share their delicious food with her.

However, one day the girl was unable to attend class. After a week of his absence, her classmates
decided to visit her at their house. When they arrived, they found a thin woman and saw a house that
was patchy, old, and devoid of luxury furniture. In a corner, they found the girl lying down and
apparently sick. Next to the pallet, they saw a lot of paper posted on the wall. They saw pictures like the
ones that the girl mentioned. It is true that there are hundreds of clothes that they have never seen before.
This is the "hundred clothes" that are only drawn on paper.
