Toba Lake
In a village in North Sumatra, there lived a farmer named Toba. He was a single man.
In a sunny morning he went fishing in the river with his best friend named Joko.
Arrived in river, he said :
Toba : Oh my Lord, I hope I can find a big fish today.

Joko : I’m believed Toba, you’ll get the big one today.
Suddenly when he just threw the hook. After a minute it was wobbling and the big
fish came out from the water then he pulled the hook.
Joko : Tttooobaaa … You got it, pull the hook! Hurry up!!!
Toba : Yeah! I got it Joko. Oh Thanks God, you gave me a big fish, and the fish is beautiful.
Red scales shine like gold. Hmmm.... it will be our lunch menu, Joko.
Joko : But.. Toba, there’s something wrong with the fish. Look!
Putri : Wait! Please don’t eat me! I’ll do everything for you if you don’t eat me. Please!
Toba : Hah?! I heard some voice, but who’s that?
Joko : Yeah, who’s there?
Putri: It's me, I'm talking to you
Toba : What? F..Fish?
And the fish turned into a beautiful girl named Putri. They were shocked. Then, the
fish said :
Putri: Don’t worry, I'm a human as you, guys. Thank you so much for saving me from the
curse of the Gods. I'm willing to be your wife, Toba.
Toba : really?
Putri : Honestly, YES!!
Toba : By the way, who do I call you?
Putri : I’m Putri, and you ?
Toba : I’m Toba. Let’s go to my house and we’ll be get married.
Putri : Sure. But Toba, you have to promise to me for never let anyone know that I'm a fish. If
that happen a huge disaster will be happened in this village.
Toba : Ok. I do promise that I’ll never tell anyone. And you Joko, don’t tell anyone. Oke?
Joko : Ooohhh.. Ookk Toba! I’ll keep secret!
Then Toba and Putri got married. A year later, Toba and Putri had a son named
Samosir. He grew into a healthy and strong boy, but he was naughty
Toba: Mom, where’s my lunch?
Putri : I have prepared it on the table.
Samosir : Okey, thank you mom! I’ll have my lunch.
Samosir was starving and he had eaten all to food on the table, included his father’s lunch.
Then, his mom came and asked :
Putri : Samosir, where’s your father’s lunch? He will be come back home soon!
Samosir : I have ate it all mom.. I'm still hungry, but never mind.. I'm going to play.. bye.
Suddenly, Toba arrived home and said :
Toba : Samosir...!! You always make me angry!
Putri: Be patient darling, I will cook another one. Remember he is the only one son that we
have. Don't let your emotional burn you!
Toba : Arghhh… just cook me some foods to eat, I’m starving.
Putri: Wait, I’ll cook it for you.
At that time, Toba could hold his anger and promise. Until someday Toba can't hold it
anymore.
Putri: Samosir, Help me please!
Samosir : Oh what’s mom? I’m playing.
Putri : Please help me to bring your father’s lunch to the field! He’s hungry and waiting there!
Samosir : Oh mom!!! I’m busy in playing! Just bring it yourself!
Putri : I need to do house work honey, just go to bring this to your father, or he will be angry.
Samosir : Ok then. Give me it!
Samosir wasn't really careful to bring it, and also wasn't care whether to bring it on time
or not.
Samosir : Oh Gosh!!! It’s so far away! It makes me thirsty and hungry. It will be better for
me to eat some of my father’s lunch and drink. He’s with his best friend, Joko there. so, he
can share Joko’s lunch later.
Then, Samosir ate his father’s lunch and drink it. He just left it just a half for his father and
brought it to the field. When he arrived, Joko greet him :
Joko : Hey samosir, what are you bringing?
Samosir : Hey Joko! Here’s my father’s lunch. Hey father! Here’s your lunch and drink.
Toba : Oh thanks, son! I’m hungry. I’ll take a break. Come on Joko, let’s have our lunch
together. Do ou bring your own?
Joko : Certainly, let’s have lunch together.
Then, they take a break and have lunch together. Samosir was playing around the ricefield
while his father open the lunch box. When he opened, Toba was shocked because the food
was so little. Then Toba asked Samosir.
Toba : Hey, samosir. Where was my lunch going? Why it just a little left?
Samosir: I have eaten them when I was on my way here, dad. I was hungry
Toba : I've been starving waiting for the food, and without feeling guilty you just said you
have ate them all?!
Joko : Hi Toba, calm down! You may eat a half of mine.
Toba : No, Joko. It is out of control.
Samosir : But, I was hungry dad
Joko : Yes, Samosir. No worries. I’ll share mine to your father.
Toba : HIII SAMOSIR!!! You’re a naughty boy!
Joko : Plese, calm down. don’t break your promise!
Toba : Samosir!!!! Your attitude is bad!!! You’re a son of FISHHHHHHHH!!!
Samosir: Haaaahh ? What did you say dad?
Joko : Samosir.. run away to the hill now!!!!
Samosir : Mommyyyy…….. (crying)
Putri heard it, and asked samosir to run away.

Putri: Run Samosir! Run! Toba, you why did you break your promise?
Toba: But I did not mean it, I'm out of control. I'm sorry Putri.
Putri : You will get what you have done eventually
Suddenly a huge of water come up, so Toba and all of his surrounding sink into water that
form as a lake and there is small island in the middle of that named Samosir Island.
