DAILY LESSON LOG IN SCIENCE GRADE 10

THIRD QUARTER SY. 2022-2023

Day/Date: APRIL 14, 2023 Teacher: JOMALYN Q. DADUYO

THURSDAY
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
the information stored in DNA as being used to make proteins
B. Performance Standards
C. Learner’s competencies  explain how fossil records, comparative anatomy, and genetic
information provide evidence for evolution; S10LT- IIIf-39
 explain the occurrence of evolution; S10LT- IIIg-40
1. Cognitive* Describe the Ups and Downs of Population Growth.
2. Psychomotor* Explain the population density.
3. Affective* Be aware of the status of population growth.

lesson. Let the students discuss the importance of Biodiveristy.
Biodiversity is very important because it sustains through flow of energy the
C. Presenting examples/instances of food web on earth and contributes to environmental stability. Stability of an
the new lesson ecosystem can be described as the resilience to withstand changes that may
occur in the environment.
D. Discussing new concepts and Let the students watch a videoclip and let them discuss the evidences of
practicing new skills # 1. evolution.
E. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills # 2. Let them discuss a population is a group of organisms of the same species that
live in a certain area. Ecologists regularly monitor the number of organisms in
many populations, but why do they do this?
Why should we care if the number of organisms in an area is increasing or
decreasing?
Well, populations that are growing or diminishing can be indicators of
potential problems in the organisms’ environment, and such conditions alarm
the ecologists if something is going wrong. But it is not enough to simply
know if the number of organisms in an area is increasing or decreasing;
ecologists need to know why the number of organisms is decreasing. So, one
of the main questions ecologists ask themselves is this:

Why is a population’s size increasing or decreasing?

F. Developing Mastery Let the students analyze and explain these two scenarios:

1. The human population is currently growing at an exponential rate. How can

this be explained in terms of birth and death rates?

2. The monkey-eating eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi) is considered an

endangered species. What does this mean in terms of the birth and the death
rate of monkey-eating eagles?
G. Finding practical application of Let them explain that while populations would probably to continue to grow

independent factors and density- dependent factors.
As a student, how will you relate the carrying capacity and population
density?
