DAILY LESSON LOG IN SCIENCE GRADE 10

THIRD QUARTER SY. 2022-2023

Day/Date: APRIL 2, 2023 Teacher: JOMALYN Q. DADUYO

MONDAY
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
the information stored in DNA as being used to make proteins
B. Performance Standards
C. Learner’s competencies  explain how protein is made using information from DNA;
S10LT- IIId-37
 explain how mutations may cause changes in the structure and function
of a protein;
S10LT- IIIe-38
1. Cognitive* Describe the structure of DNA and RNA;
2. Psychomotor* Identify the functions of DNA and RNA;
3. Affective* Recognize the importance of understanding the concept of DNA and RNA.
II. CONTENT Topic: Heredity: Inheritance and Variation Sub- Topic: Summary of DNA and RNA
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. REFERENCES Strategy: Inquiry-based
1. Teacher’s Guide Pages 181 2. Learner’s Materials 3. Subject Integration: Health, English & AP
Pages 248-249 4. Skills: Language, Visual and differentiated
5. Additional Materials from LR Slideshare
Portal

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previews lesson or Provide review.
presenting the new lesson Let the students discuss the Nucleic Acids.
Let them discuss also that the two major types of nucleic acids are
Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) and Ribonucleic Acid (RNA). They both differ
in terms of the composition, role and location in the cell.
B. Establishing a purpose to the Provide motivation and introduction.
lesson. Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) is a double-stranded helix molecule. The double
helix consists of two complementary chains twisted together around common
C. Presenting examples/instances axis while Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) is a single stranded molecule that is
of the new lesson responsible in converting the information stored in DNA to proteins. DNA and
RNA differ in their chemistry and role in the cell.
D. Discussing new concepts and Let the students analyze this photo:
practicing new skills # 1. Directions: Label the parts of the chromosome. You can choose from the pool of
E. Discussing new concepts and words below. Write your answers in your notebook/on a separate sheet of paper.
practicing new skills # 2.

Let them discuss the Watson-Crick Model.

Let them elaborate the parts of the chromosome.
F. Developing Mastery GUIDE QUESTIONS:
 What are the components of DNA and RNA?
 Enumerate the Nitrogenous Bases.
 Differentiate purines and pyrimidines.
Discussion:
The function of DNA is primarily for the storage of genetic information while
RNA converts information stored in the DNA to form protein. The types of
RNA involved in protein synthesis are the mRNA (messenger RNA), tRNA
(transfer RNA) and rRNA (ribosomal RNA). Messenger RNA carries
information from the DNA in the nucleus to the site of protein synthesis while
the Transfer RNA supplies the amino acids to the ribosome to form proteins,
and Ribosomal RNA binds tRNA and various molecules necessary for protein
synthesis.
G. Finding practical application of How will you apply the concept of DNA and RNA?
concepts and skills in daily living.
H. Making Generalization and Discuss the Human Genome Project.
Abstraction about the lesson.

I. A. Evaluate Learning (EVALUATION) The activity itself.

remediation who scored below 80%
C. Did the remedial work? No. of learners who have caught up
with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation

E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did this

worked?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or
superior can help me solve?
