 Wavy lines seen in the sky, in the background and also the body of the person screaming.

Color
 The color of the sky is red orange. The seawater blends with the color of the sky as seen in the
area where there are two small boats sailing in the painting.
 The surroundings are black in color with matching bluish, gray and beige.
 Clothes are black and the color of the face of the person screaming is a combination of gray
and beige.

Shape
 The person screaming has a curve-shaped body, skull-shaped head and oval mouth.
 The railings of the bridge are rectangular in shape.

Texture
 The light blue pattern under the bridge indicates fluid or watery texture.
 The railings of the bridge seem like sturdy wooden texture.
 The texture of the painting is smooth since it uses wavy lines.

Size
 36 in × 28.9 in
 91 cm × 73.5 cm

Space
 There are spaces between the three diagonal lines of the railings of the bridge.
 The painting shows wider space because it illustrates an open area.

Value
 The artist uses dark colors in the painting since it signifies sunset.
 There is a combination of dark, mid and light tones of color specifically in the bridge, sky,
water and the area near the person screaming.

II. Choice of Medium and Technique:

 The Scream painting uses oil paints, oil paints thickened with beeswax and also oil crayons
containing beeswax and Japan wax, as well as casein pastels, a paraffin wax crayon and at
least one gum-bound paint.
 The original was painted in 1893 using oil, tempera, and pastel on cardboard. There are four
other versions: the pastel version (1893); the lithograph version (1893), the second pastel
version (1895) and the tempera version (1910)

III. Format of the Art:

 Since the size of the painting is 91 cm x 73.5 cm, meaning the painting looks like an upright
rectangle known as portrait format.
 The artist uses 2D and 3D format in his painting. The railings of the bridge are in 3D format
since it has a rectangular prism while the rest is 2D format.

IV. Other Physical Properties and Marks of the Work:

 The painting illustrates the beauty of sunset because of the colors of the sky.
 It represents human condition since it shows a person who is experiencing a trauma in life
that caused him to panic and at the same time stressful. Also, the colors used signifies
darkness and troubles in life with severe emotions.
 It persuades and conveys emotions and feelings to the viewers (e.g. viewers felt no peace
and severe destruction while seeing the painting). Viewers are able to define and identify
directly the message of the painting without any explanation especially if the viewers can
relate and have the same experience with.
