PCA-Human Resource Frame Worksheet

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

The organization I picked is called Markham Contracting which is a construction


company in Phoenix Arizona. This company specialized in excavation and land management.
They are responsible for making pads and foundations for buildings and they also deal with
water management. This is an important part of the construction phase and it is what initiates all
other construction to begin. They are one of the biggest excavating companies in the state with a
great reputation and countless successful projects. My role in the organization is the project
manager of the excavation process of the new TSMC plant out in Anthem Arizona. My role is to
oversee and supervise the building of the pad for the new semiconductor plant being built. I have
to organize the contractors and the excavators in order to get the pad to its completion before
construction can begin.

2) Describe how the human resources of the organization influenced the situation.

The human resources of Markham Construction aided in the deal making of the pad and
excavation work on the TSMC construction contract. There needed to be communication
and deal making in order to properly facilitate the deal and agreement between the two
companies. They had to speak with clarity and understanding in order to get their idea
across and make it understandable. Without the ability to talk there would be no room for
negotiations.

The crews working on the excavation are coordinating in order to be the most productive
they can be. If they didn’t communicate they would be on different pages making the
work hard to complete. Staying organized is critical to teamwork and cooperation.

3) Recommend how you would use the human resources for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.

If it was me I’d use better communication between the crew members which makes for
better understanding and a more quality level of human resources within the organization.
Communication and the way people talk to one and other is the best way to fix the
situation and make it more understandable and digestible. In my organization they could
improve by using better forms of communication like walkie-talkies instead of our hand
signals which are misleading and indirect.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

In my organization I wouldn’t do anything different than change some of the


communication levels within the company and the way we all communicate. For
Markham’s situation I’d increase communication amongst different levels of management
in order to communicate times and processes. I’d have the actual workers communicating
weekly with upper management which would increase understanding and facilitate timely
results to situations.
