Personal Statement for Ph.D.

The health sector is at a crossroads worldwide, struggling to balance quality care and

understaffing. What comes to my mind the moment such thoughts dominate is how we can

improve the quality of care in health facilities. It may be achieved by ensuring that experts

mentor graduates to handle patients professionally in the future. This insatiable desire to help

underserved people and see patients being dealt with well has triggered my motivation to

advance my skills in nursing and become a resourceful mentor both now and in the future.

Challenges in the medical field morph with time and the current problems require an in-depth

understanding of the profession. Taking care of people's physical and emotional health is what I

strive to do in my future career.

My previous education ascertained that proper training and knowledge help students

learn hands-on skills and handle patients better. While pursuing my BSc in Nursing. I took the

time to do rotations under the supervision of senior nurses. I realized that I could fulfill my

assigned duties well, and through observing what the sen iors did, I could replicate their work

while handling my patients. Mentors were there to correct us in instances where we could not

figure out how to manage patients in critical conditions, and through continued practice, I

became better. I gained much confidence, which triggered my interest to do this for the entire of

my life. After graduating from nursing school, I was fortunate to work in different roles,

including a nursing instructor, clinical supervisor, nurse specialist, and now a nursing instructor.

Working in all these positions helped me to work with graduate nurses. I enjoyed sharing

knowledge and preparing the next generation of nurses for professional practice.
My counseling background has enabled me to gain confidence in both clinical and

academic areas. I have discovered that the only way to impact the nursing field is through

sharing the diverse skills I have amassed through work experiences. Thus, joining your

university for a doctoral degree will assist me in becoming a more refined educator. The growing

need for compassionate and competent nurses is a challenge this institution proudly accepts. It

will provide me with an environment that will improve my technical and critical thinking skills,

which are necessary to excel in this expansive field.
