immigrants. One-third are women and a quarter are children.
Bosnia - about 2.2 million people are still struggling from the aftermath of the Bosnia War
which ended in 1995.
Bulgaria - homelessness in Bulgaria is not a government priority. Most homeless people are
refugees, elderly, or young people that do not have foster homes.
Croatia - considered a transit country, Croatia is full of migrants and refugees.
France - facing issues such as poverty, unemployment, rising rent, domestic violence, drug
abuse, and mental and physical illness. This is mostly caused by the rise of demand in
France causing poverty prices and prices in general to rise.
Germany - the immigration and refugee population in Germany has been on the rise; half
come from Syria.
Italy - there is a shortage of beds in homeless shelters so people have to sleep on the street.
After the death of a homeless man the Italian Pope declared that more should be done to
help.
Lithuania - about 10% of people struggle with alcohol abuse disorder, this doesn't help
those who are trying to get into a homeless shelter.
Sweden - more and more houses are built every day but most aren't affordable

Costa Rica - has been doing good but the slum housing areas are still struggling, especially now
that 80% of the population is in urban areas.
Panama - most of the people impacted by homelessness are indigenous people, mostly children.
Children suffer from malnutrition and the unemployment rate has spiked because of the global
pandemic.
USA - those who don't live in a homeless shelter are punished. Since the 21st century punishing or
imprisoning the poor/homeless is the "American" response.
Argentina - most housing in Argentina is single-sex housing, leaving couples and families to prefer
to live on the street. This has caused the demand for beds to rise.
Brazil - struggles with access to running water, sanitation, healthcare, and public education.
Chile - considered one of the most unequal countries in the world!! Citizens have to live in tents or
shacks because of minimum wage which causes unaffordable houses.
Colombia - has dealt with 5 decades, 50 years, of armed conflict which has led to having one of
the highest displaced people. They have received the largest amount of refugees, asylum seekers,
and migrants that flee from Venezuela.
Paraguay - indigenous people have been evicted due to corrupt landowners. Has also been struck
by a lot of floods.
Peru - has been affected heavily by landslides and floods. They also get immigrants fleeing from
Venezuela.
Venezuela - food is not easy to afford in Venezuela. Venezuelans are losing 24 pounds each year
due to eating less than 2 meals per day.
