STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Video games usually are a crucial part of every child's life, and my childhood was no different.
However, reaching a certain age, the question of how to win transformed into how it works. The
famous Mario moving and jumping on my command bewildered me and made me curious about its
working. In search of a few answers, I used to unscrew gadgets to try and understand the underlying
magic, but it resulted in a piece of damaged equipment with a lot of scolding from my parents.
Through my incessant endeavours to learn newer things, acquire novel skills and better myself
holistically, I have understood that I have much to learn and grounds to cover. However, I discern that
only when we challenge and push ourselves to newer pastures where the tides are different, we can
constantly learn and become better.

I have been a responsible student who has constantly fared well in my exams, done the homework and
submitted my projects and seminars on time. This moral nature of mine has carried over to my higher
education, where I scored an exceptional CGPA of 8.79 in my undergraduate course. Even from
childhood, I was fascinated by math and physics, which helped me develop impeccable analytics and
decision-making skills. This was one of the primary reasons I took Information & Communication
Technology in my undergraduate course at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and
Communication Technology (DA-IICT), where I was introduced to various newer subjects such as
Data Structures, Algorithms, A Range of Programming Languages and the Process of Software
Development. The more I learned about these subjects, the more I became fascinated with the same.
Studying these various topics helped me realise that doing the master’s program in computer science
will help me learn more about the same and immensely nurture my skills in the field of computer
science.

The curriculum at DA-IICT helped me build a solid foundation by exposing me to a variety of

subjects and programming languages. Being fascinated on the operation by which mobile calling
feature work and to explore more of it, in the very first year of my college I took the Project of DTMF
based Home Automation, in the project we were 2 team members and it includes the DTMF (Dual
Tone Multiple Frequency) Technology used by Mobile Devices for calling, and extending this idea
where a device can communicate to one another irrespective of the distance, I designed the circuit
diagram in the LT Spice and developed the circuit over a breadboard, converting our mobile to a
remote controller, using this we can control our Home Appliances from anywhere in the world.

But this was not enough I soon started looking for technologies where I could use this knowledge to
develop something more useful for a person or a community. Delving into the circuits, I also worked
on Auto Irrigated System (Solar Power) project, in a group of ten. Agriculture being a major sector for
the GDP of India and one of the major problems Indian farmer face is on power cut-off. Villages get
power only few hours of the day and farmers don’t have the idea when power will be available.
Irrigation as a result is affected due to this, and hence, I tried to organise this problem and designed
the circuit on the breadboard to demo it’s functioning where the irrigation starts on its own by
converting solar energy to electrical energy.

Later years in DA-IICT paced up my knowledge with challenging projects. I had a strong desire to
build an end to end system i.e. acquiring knowledge of all domains in Software Development. So
initially I chose to design the database for an Airline Company. In the team of four, To create such a
real-life implementation, there was a need to design and develop the database from scratch and to
provide a proper foundation to it, I designed the Schema of the Database which captures all the
relevant information for an Airline Company (For E.g. Schedule Specific Routes, Manage Booking
Details & Bookings) and wrote Stored Procedures which helps improve the performance of database
operations, PostgreSQL was used for creating the same.
Finally to get an insight of Frontend and Backend Technologies I chose the Human Speed Detection
project in my last year at DA-IICT. We as a team of 8 members worked on detecting the speed of an
object from the video (live or recorded) provided. From this project I get to know on how we can train
a computer program by providing various data models. I developed the User Interface (using React
JS) through which user will be interacting with the program and also developed the backend (using
NodeJS) which forms a link between the Python scripts and the user interface. This really helped me
in getting an insight on how an end to end system works.

Along with my academics, I actively participated in extracurricular activities for my all-round growth.
I have participated in workshops organized by Microsoft on Cognitive Services (December 2017),
over here we were introduced to a range of new technologies developed by Microsoft and familiarized
us to its leading tool “Azure” through which we learned how Azure can be used for Face Recognition,
Web Services etc. Another workshop was of the Goldman Sachs for Market Analysing (April 2018),
where we were provided with an overview on how market works, also with that we learnt Risk
Assessment for client and their assets using various games, it was quite a fun with learning. Acquiring
the knowledge of Risk Assessment has become a habit for me now to analyse each and every task
thoroughly and cop up with them if any hazard occurs.

Also with that I was also active in doing internships to get a grounds on knowledge of the industry. So
I interned at organizations such as TheITWebCare, Rajkot (May – July 2019), here I learnt on
developing a full stack application(using React JS, NodeJS and MongoDB) which can help user get
recommendation for the places he is looking for based on his/her location, it was a great experience
on knowing how this stacks (frontend and backend) are linked to each other. Heliconia Solutions Pvt
Ltd, Rajkot (January – May 2020) was where I interned for my final semester and this time I focused
on getting familiarize to the Mobile Technology so I developed a mobile app (using React Native) for
both Android and iOS. It was here where I become so customer centric and started focusing more on
the UX designs parts, this helped me till date where in my current job I provide suggestions on how
UX can be made user friendly. I also collaborated with projects for a good cause, like Covid-19-India,
which helps users get an overview of the Covid-19 cases and conditions of a given region in India.
These activities have helped me enhance my leadership and multi-tasking skills.

Taking my learning forwards, I started working as a Graduate Analyst Deutsche Bank in August
2020. So far, I have worked on several projects, and with continuous efforts and consistency, I have
reached the position of leading the project as a UI Frontend Engineer. Apart from this, I have worked
as the UI Lead in developing a project named Athena, it helps to make the placement process much
smoother, also because of the practicality of this project, it is now adopted globally by the company.
Along with that I proposed up with an idea on having Knowledge Transfer sessions where every time
one of the team member discuss on a topic, he is familiar with. This idea was really applauded by the
company and is being started implemented across various teams too. This job really helped me in
upbringing my skills on communication, time and group management.

To excel in anything, one must take winter hard training and prepare herself and not propel herself
rashly into something which one is not completely aware of. So, I decided to do a master’s. Studying
at Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana), would mean prospects to study under the guidance of
world-renowned faculty in academia as well as industry professionals. My interest in working on
Distributed and Database Systems resonates with the research work of Prof. Y. Charlie Hu & Prof.
Walid G. Aref. Moreover, if given an opportunity to work in Software Protection Technology under
Prof. Mikhail Atallah, it will complement my theoretical understanding by providing exposure to
cutting edge technologies and solutions such as “Arxan” which run over billions of devices to secure
applications and used across many industries. This would advance my knowledge about Software
Protection and help undertake challenging projects in this domain.

As a student of a master's degree, I would have the privilege to work with computer scientists or
engineers who are doctorate. Looking at the positive impact the university has made in terms of
boosting interests in acquiring knowledge and developing skills using Computer Science, it will be a
great opportunity for me to learn new things and fuel my innovative prowess in the ever-improving
field of technology embraced by software. Therefore, I am convinced that Purdue University, is the
right place to further my academic career as I will have an opportunity to work with the best and even
indulge myself in research work.

I would like to return to my homeland and start working with the companies like Flipkart, Amazon
India, Sprinklr or resume working with Deutsche Bank but in a leadership position. As an employee, I
will grow at the same pace as an enterprise because ascending as a person is the smartest way to spend
the life. I desire to test my potential amidst international competitors and am keen on stretching the
limits of my academic career. I have the aptitude and the ability to make contributions of this kind for
I have a prolific imagination, analytical and technical skills to visualize the needs of society and to
appreciate what is possible. All this coupled with a soaring ambition will undoubtedly place me
among being an envious breed of organized and successful professionals who control and monitor the
forces, materials, and advancing technology for the benefit of the human race. I am looking forward to
following my dream.
