    A RESOLUTION INSTITUTIONALIZING BF1KD AN EARLY


    CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT INTERVENTION PACKAGE FOR THE
    FIRST ONE THOUSAND (1000) DAYS OF A CHILD OF BINGAY,
    BORBON, CEBU.

    WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government
    Code of 1991, states that Local Government Units shall endeavor to provide health
    services which include the implementation of programs on maternal and child care;

    WHEREAS, the World Health Organization, strongly recommends proper health


    care on the first 1,000 days of a child, to grow, learn and lead a long term healthy and
    stable life;

    WHEREAS, the first 1,000 days - starting from the first day of conception until the
    second birthday – is the most critical period for growth and development;

    WHEREAS, any nutritional deficiency in a child’s first 1,000 days will have
    irreversible effects on their health and their physical and mental development;
    preventing them from completing their schooling and eventually acquiring decent
    employment. These children are also 4.6 times more prone to dying of illnesses such as
    pneumonia, diarrhea and measles;

    WHEREAS, this Executive Order, seeks to establish a sustainable early childhood


    health care program in Barangay Bingay, Borbon, Cebu;

    WHEREAS, the program aims to provide prenatal and postnatal maternity care
    services to pregnant women in order to protect her health as well as to ensure the
    nutritional diet of her newborn child. The program shall include awareness on the
    significance of good maternal nutrition and proper infant and young child feeding
    practices, particularly, exclusive breastfeeding; timely, safe and appropriate and high
    quality complementary food, and appropriate micronutrients interventions;

    NOW THEREFORE, on mass motion and duly seconded by the same;

    RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, to approved and confirmed


    institutionalizing BF1KD an early childhood development intervention package for the
    first one thousand (1000) days of a child of Barangay Bingay, Borbon, Cebu.

    RESOLVED FURTHER, to give a copy of the resolution to the Barangay


    Nutrition Council and to the Borbon Rural Health Unit for favorable action.
    UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of AUGUST 2019 at
    Barangay Bingay, Borbon, Cebu, Philippines.
